2:01 😬 Never ever use those clamps on your figures, they’ll damage your figures over time due to the pressure on the materials. I only use them for a quick photograph and then take it off immediately after I’m done.

I wonder if a ratcheted clamp would be better. That way it's just set into position without putting constant pressure on the suit

PSA. If you ever take the head off your OWK Vader be incredibly careful. I am very careful with my figures and when pulling the head off snapped the neck connector. It now barely holds the head in place. I’ve seen a few listings of the figure indicating the same issue. It looks like it’s made of a more brittle clear plastic unlike other figures idk

Well I actually like that scratch thou, make it more realistic and kinda battle damaged😂

The worst part about this figure is that the legs has limited articulation because the seam underneath will rip

My question is why wouldn’t they use the same material Scarlet Spidey has? Is durable and it will last longer than this ones they’re using which is why collectors are afraid to pose? I like to pose them cuz that’s why I buy them not to be a dummy just standing there lifeless. #fixblacksuittobey

I don’t mine the creasing in the elbows and knees cuz I know it happens and I see it as such but the clamp 🗜️ heck no I use it around the thighs where is just loose and not hugging like a bear hug. Jedha Patrol has come up with an excellent idea with the Spider-Man’s that have the holes in the back where the spider legs goes and made a sort of stand that plugs into the holes to hold the figure in the air without using the waist clamp and it looks pretty awesome so am going with that for my symbiote Spider-Man and all the others. Tnx for the tip keep them coming.

If you put some 303 and massage it a bit, you might recover some of that arm after a few days. Try it out to see. Great vid dude.

This is why I always resort to crazy poses just to take pictures, and then I tend to leave them in neutral poses, or they go back to he box Im experimenting with Spider Gwen, she's doing well so far and that suit is already a few years old 👌 the worry of a $300 + figure damaging in 100% justified but losing the fear of it breaking brings a lot of enjoyment

This is why I use a piece of black foam for a clamp buffer

Damnnnn sucks that sometimes the material can ruin the overlook of a figure. But a good reversal to this is , sometimes these figures look so good POSED UP! Great informative and fun video Riley! Your collection is looking good man!

I collect figures, so this comment isn't intended to troll, but in 30-40 years' time these will all be subject to disintegration and rot, so just enjoy them now.

This is why when it comes to comic characters, I will stick with 1/12 figures. Glad Star Wars Hot Toys do not have this problem.

Damn! Hot Toys need to use an all fabric materials for their Spider-Mans for future releases. As long as I want to dynamic pose all of my Spidey figures, the long term damage I can't live with. 😢 Thank you for this wonderful video. I'm just happy for other collectors who's enjoying to dynamic pose their figures especially, Spidey.

I’d love to see how it rebounded in a week. I had classic Spidey in an upside down pose with his legs bent in like a diamond shape and when I eventually took him out of it, the legs looked so saggy. I thought I ruined the suit; but it bounced back and you can’t tell!

I wish hot toys would fix all the issues with stretch marks and indents. Their charging you 200 to 400 dollars per figures and you get these issues. I’ve wanted to start collecting hot toys, but I might just stick to 1/12 scale figs

these hot toys figures look awesome, but collecting them looks like a lot of hassle, can't really pose and use clamps in fear of damaging the suits. also pleather materials would flake as it ages.

Wow can’t believe this needs to be said again, there are so many videos dealing with how to avoid damage like this. I have numerous Hot Toys many of them are “grails”. 1. Stop posing them for months and then being surprised that there are creases, wrinkles etc. you have to repose 2. Check your humidity anything close to 60 percent you need to check your options for getting that down to 45 percent or so. 3. Both heat and cold are your worst enemies with Hot Toys again keep out of sun or freezer like conditions. 4. Add a lubricant or sealant such as Honda door grease or 403 it will make your pleathers, leathers and synthetic plastics last so long Come on guys

Tbh man its sad that the claps that come with hot toys did more damage than the poses we put our figures in. Glad to see that even though it was in such an extreme pose its not terribly damaged. Ive been collecting since i was 12 in 2012 and figures from that era ive posed and there in rough shape 😢 but, glad to see hot toys material is getting better and better.

Yeah, those clamps are atrocious, unless you're using them on a figure like Iron Man, or just straight up clothed figure. The padding on them is just way too hard. Would be an easy mod, but you shouldn't have to go out of your way and do that. And I absolutely agree with Justin. I don't usually sell my figures, so it's not about value to me. I just love my figures pristine. And if I DO decide to sell something, keeping them nice is just a nice bonus to have for the next owner. Good thing I'm a simple museum pose enjoyer, so figures like Venom, for an example, will never really have that material stress issue for me.

Hot Toys should try imbedding a magnet on the back of the body under the suit and using a dynamic pole with another magnet. If the magnets are strong enough, it might be the perfect solution.

Just buy statues over Hot Toys. Or at least skip the stupid material covered ones. It’s not worth the headache for the money. It’s not a good way to design figures. If you do cloth coverings, you design it to be interchangeable and not as sealed. I’m not even talking in terms of resale, I just don’t want to worry about posing an ACTION FIGURE.

Way back in the Dark knight days I was betrayed many times by hot toys. Had a DX joker eyes break, I left Batman with his arm out 90 degrees and his armpit tore open, hell boys knee disintegrated on me lol My Star Wars hot toys have held up pretty well. I have the Sony spiderman and he has the same issues as your Miles. They are beautiful but the anxiety of leaving them in any pose for longer than a few hours is just too high for the cost of these figures. To each their own but now I stick to TVC Star Wars 3.75” and Marvel Legends. Much more fun and way less anxiety if anything breaks.

I'm in the middle on this. I like to pose my figures but I like them being pristine. I pick and choose which figures I'll pose and which ones I wont. I dont want my new r&b suit to have creasing on the metallic blue areas.

this why stopped buying Spiderman HT until, the make a custom body for him and figure out the suit situation

Creasing doesn’t bother me too much but more so on material that will flake or peel. Appreciate you doing this experiment!

Thanks for making the experiment happen. Saw someone in the comments mention a blow dryer. If that doesn’t work maybe the steam from a travel steamer. Steamers get wrinkles out of clothes maybe it will work on that material too.
