    Gary, this was FANTASTIC!!! I don't know how you do it. You know this stuff SO well. This one is definitely going into the archives, because I like that Automater idea - and - also would love to set up a stream deck shortcut to get that functionality onto a button. I will need to watch this again to get the specifics, but everything I need is there, and I am looking forward to it. Another hit out of the park!

    Thank you Gary for today's wonderful tutorial. I learned a lot, and yet my favorite use of this valuable tool remains "Print>Open in Preview". This allows me to expand the as-yet-unprinted document and examine every aspect in full screen and even beyond full screen for a detailed preview. This has really saved me on numerous occasions, prior to sending off an email with the document, allowing me to catch any embarrassing mistakes I might otherwise incorporate into the document. Keep up the great work! Your videos are the reason you are the only TH-camr I support on Patreon, and I urge anyone who benefits from your tutorials to do the same because your presentations are, indeed, valuable! 🤩

    I always incorporate graft or chart I made into a graphic works I do but I screenshot the chart for example and pasted it on the graphic artwork. I never thought that by opening it in Preview, I can actually crop it nicely without losing details. Great tip Gary. Really appreciate it.

    Hi, thank you so much for your content!!
    Is there a way to right-click using only the keyboard ( no track pad or mouse)
    Many thanks

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว

      No. A right click is still a click and it has to be at a position on the screen. So it is a function of the pointing device, not the keyboard.

    Thank you for this very informative video.
    At 1:40 to 1:50 the option for just clicking on the PDF button is mentioned. However, on my MBP with macOS Big Sur 11.7.7 the arrow is colored blue and when clicking on the PDF button the menu opens - so no shortcut appears as in the video. Maybe this PDF button function is only available in macOS versions after macOS 11?

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you are using an older version of macOS so things will be different.

    I find that to add locations to the PDF menu I can click the + and navigate to a folder and click the choose button and that location is added to the menu. No Automator action needed.

      In that case you get e.g. "Desktop" instead of "Save to Desktop". But anyways, the trick is done.

    any way to convert pdf to numbers without using google

    • @macmost

      Depends on the content in the PDF. You can just copy from the PDF and paste into a Numbers table in some cases.

    For the Print to PDF function using keyboard only, I just press Cmd P, then Cmd P again.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว

      That doesn't work. At least not without some other app helping you.

      @@macmost I can't remember now how it does it, but I'm sure it was a tip from one of your videos.

    • @duncandavies1966
      @duncandavies1966 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@macmost Found it… go to Settings->Keyboard->Keyboard Shortcuts->App Shortcuts, then allocate the shortcut Cmd+P to [Save as PDF…] and also [Save as PDF].

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@duncandavies1966 Interesting. That shouldn't work, but some Apple engineer must have built in some special code. It doesn't work for Open in Preview also in that menu, but it does for Save as Postscript...

  • @mbonani
    @mbonani ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can also create a keyboard shortcut for "Save as PDF...". I use ⌘P. Then I just hit ⌘P twice when I want to generate a PDF.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as long as that is a menu option offered by the app and it does what you want. Often File, Print does more (like scaling and page selection, etc).

    • @timstringer6384
      @timstringer6384 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@macmost This doesn't rely on the app having any PDF support. It adds the keyboard shortcut to the Print dialog, not the app menu. I learned this tip from David Sparks (aka MacSparky) years ago and have been using it ever since. p.s. Thanks for another great video, Gary!
