    HOORAY! Finally, something simple!😊 I think that in their zeal to be flexible, Apple (and Windows) offer too many ways to do things, which generally only ends up confusing me, with the result being that instead of making things simpler to use, they accomplish the opposite.

    I like these types of videos that show the basics. I learned a lot of better ways of doing a few tasks that realy anoyed me on a mac.
    Thats the problem of using two systems for me. Windows at work all day long and dabbling with a mac when i get home
    Hope you do more about common syztem baaed tasks, maybe a guide to system changes.
    I spent some time the other night trying to find out why an app would not run. The help section on the app site mentioned i had to close an app in order to use their app. What they did not say was it had to be taken out of the startup services or what ever mac calls it in settings.
    I am nust not proficient in trouble shooting on a mac, but learjing a lot from your videos.

    The easiest way to move files is to use tabs in finder, in my opinion. That way you don’t have to open separate window. Just press cmnd+t and search for a file destination in a new tab, then drag and drop it there.

    • @alejmc
      @alejmc ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn’t follow this one, you mean open a new tab but somehow have both tabs open visible?

    • @CosBar_
      @CosBar_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alejmc You need to use tab bar when you drag-and-drop files.
      However, the fastest way is to always use keyboard shortcuts. cmnd+s to save a file > cmnd+t to open a new tab inside finder window > search for a file destination > cmnd+v to paste a file into new file destination. That's how I work, but the drag-and-drop method is certainly an easier way to move files for most people.
      Hope this helped :)

    Capture a part of the screen: Press Cmd+shift+4 and drag the area you want to capture. But I don't like screenshots i .bmp format, so I run a script or something that changed it to .jpg. That was rather complicated but I only had to do it once. I did that from the command prompt, sorry I can't remember how but it's somewhere on google.

    • @davidmadisontheguardian
      @davidmadisontheguardian 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for getting back to me. And I may have found a work around. Basically, I was opening the finder window. The photos and videos were stored in two places after importing... Photo Library and Imports. Both places did not show a file name, just thumbnails.
      But I found that if I dragged all of them onto the desk top, suddenly, I could rename them, as well as do a lot of other things that I couldn't do while they were in the photos library. It's an extra step or two; but it solved my main issue.
      However, you can only watch them back to back with the photo viewer, otherwise, you have to open first one and then the other, or highlight a batch and switch between the opened windows.
      So, the solution is not ideal; but it will work for my purposes for now. I'll see what the Genius Bar at the Apple Store has to say about it.
      Anyway... appreciate you getting back to me. I'd love to find a way to rename while they are in the Photos Library, where it seems that they automatically get imported when I transfer via a USB 5 in 1 C type hub and cable. But my main issue was just to be able to rename my files so that I could easily recognize which ones to pull for video editing.@@macmost

    • @davidmadisontheguardian
      @davidmadisontheguardian 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Once I'm able to import the rest of my videos onto the Macbook - the phone is full and won't allow me to record anything else right now - I'll see if I can't make a quick video, upload it to my channel; and include the link in the comments. Perhaps other people are running into this same issue.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@davidmadisontheguardian So these were in your Photos library? You shouldn't try to access or rename the files directly in the library like that through the Finder. By pulling them out of the Photos library you either made copies of them, or you damaged your Photos library by removing them. If you want them out of your Photos library, use the Photos app and export them (originals) instead.
      But if your goal is to find what you want then keeping them in the Photos library is fine. You can title them there (different than file names) or add keyword tags, or put them into albums. Make an album of the ones you want to use in your video project and then you can easily access them by going to that album.

    • @macmost
