Superb rendition of “Sweet Virginia” by the Tedeschi Trucks Band with the Wood Brothers. That trombone solo was excellent, and Derek Trucks killed it on his slide guitar. Mick and Keith would be very impressed. I sure was.

My good friend Mark Stead first turned me onto Susan's second album in like 1998 and I loved her of course. Mark was a great drummer, we were in a band together at the time. A few years later Derek married her and at that time Mark and I were working together full time 40 hours a week. We talked music for hours every day. He said "Just wait until they start a band together.". In November of 2005 Mark was killed in a car accident coming home from a gig. Within a week of the first TTB Album I went and played it at his grave site. He Knew they would be special.

They've gone on record as saying The Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour was pivotal in forming TTB. That falls in line with the earlier reference to similarities to Delaney and Bonnie and Friends. Lots of musicians were part of both bands. It's lost on too many people how influential Leon Russell was during this time. He put so many musicians together with other players that would likely not have happened without his direction.

Tasty rendition of a stones classic. Reverent yet original. Not too little or too much, medium effort, just right. Hard to imagine a better combo than Oliver W and Mike M. Sweet and smooth solo carousel from bone, piano and guitar. Then swimming, swirling vocals for the outro are sublime. Thanks ttb and wood brothers for keeping my soul shining.

Composed around 50 years ago - great performers have been born and died within that time - but the song continues to be performed.

The only way you can take the focus off what Boyd laid down, is with King Trucks. Well played Dave, well played sir. Imagine what Trucks & Tinsley would have sounded like. I guess we will never know; the "nobody offend anybody" world of today wasnt ready apparently.

Awesome! I graduated from Highschool in 1975. My nickname was "Stones". I was a huge fan since I was 8. I stopped buying their albums from "Some Girls" on. Personally, I preferred their early albums. I have to add "Ghost Town" is a great song.
