Nephew and son carrying the torch ❤
I was fortunate enough to see Duane and Dickie do this tune, about 6 weeks before Duane died. Memorable.
Duane isn't dead, is he?
@@jazzcookI think he's talking OG Duane.
@@jazzcook Sorry, my bad. Duane *Allman* not Duane Betts. It was early September 1971. Apologies for the scare.
I saw them at the Winterland in SF three weeks before Duane (Allman) died.
@@briangard2831 And neither you nor I knew how blessed we were to experience that before it was unceremoniously taken from us.
Man so blessed to be able to witness this last night in person. These 2 doing a proper Elizabeth Reed, my favorite ABB song. Derek and Duane really got into it up there. Pure magic
duane would be so proud
This is the best matchup I’ve seen with Derek. Both cut from the same cloth, both great players.what a joyous listen.😊🎉❤
The best rock n' roll instrumental song of all time, performed by two great guitarists with deep connections to the song, the band, and the songwriter. Magical!
UPDATE: RIP, Dickey Betts. Your music lives on.
@@peakbagger6805 I haven't heard that one, but I will definitely check it out.
I'll have to put Hot Tuna's Watersong up there with the instrumentals... maybe not so R&R though
@@peakbagger6805 Here's to R.B. played, sang, wrote real good tunes. really goods tunes. I can't say a fave for 'our ' music. sheer invention of ' Machine Gun' or 'Dark Star'. or East /West, came out about the same time as 'Revolver' I have Beatlemania in DNA.
RIP Dickie. I was blessed to see you live in Nashua NH at Hollmans stadium back in the late '80's. Blues Traveler opened for them. Thanks Duane for you and your dad's talent. It's medicine for the soul.
In memory of Dickie Betts, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed is perfect. I can’t think of two better guitarists Derek Trucks (Butchs nephew) and Duane (Dickies son) to play this. Miss Elizabeth Reeds grave is located in Rose Hill Cemetery with Gregg, Duane, Berry, Dickie and Butch. In earlier days the guys would write songs in the cemetery and as a matter of fact Dickie Betts wrote this very song.
Dual guitars and dual drums - the way it needs to be for this classic.
11:52 Derek smiles exuberantly at Duane’s playing.
so beautiful
Glad and appreciated to see the Allman Brothers Revival
The epic jams live on with Duane and the Tedeschi Trucks Band. Thank you.
I was a huge ABB fan and then followed Derek Trucks Band into my late 20s. I was aware of Susan from her set on ACL. When I met my wife and through the dating process, our love for music brought us to the marriage of her Susan and my Derek before TTB and we saw Susan opening for Derek at The Fox ATL. I knew for sure that this woman would be my wife and we married in 08. TTB is our band now and forever. We only wish tix would come back down for the true blue collar fans, ya know.
16 years ago on May 10th. Happiest day of my life. 💖
I learned a lot of my guitar style from the orig ABB. It's so great to see these direct descendants carry the torch into the future. Long live ABB!!!
Derek and Susan seem like they've been partying and playing for so many years they have the party under control quite well, while Duane here seems like he could use a glass of water . But they are both amazing and this is so great.
duane and derek nothing better ABB carries on Brilliant Video Thx !
Speechless... can't seem to find words to express my feelings right now. It's like jumping timelines 50 years.
So proud and blessed. Carry on dudes! ...GG
So satisfying to see this great composition skillfully played by the younger generation of the Allman Dynasty. Bravo!
Holy Crap, it is incredible ! Duane Betts is his father 40 years ago.
This is how we did it son!
Thank you so much, you just made this Boomer's Day! Wish they would all come on over to Hawai'i!
Allman Betts band is coming to Hawaii in the summer…
This song is my all-time favorite Allman Brothers band song. One way Out is also a top 3 AB song.
Derek Trucks once said in an interview “ I grew up between a Les Paul guitar and a Hammond B 3 organ. What a awesome place to start a musical career rock on forever
Very cool! Got to see Derek play with Duane's dad twice on the ABB 1999 tour in Mesa AZ and the Joint in LV(original one that was 2,000 capacity). Can't believe it's been 25 years🤯
THE ROAD GOES ON FOREVER!!! Fantastic performances all around and I especially appreciated the interplay of the drummers!! Magical!!
Damn ! Very cool ! Hope they bring Duane to RedRocks show . Throw him in on this tour .
Insanely GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cried at the end of this.
masterclass in musicality, just absolutely incredible
I’ve seen Duane play 20 years ago and was even lucky enough to jam with him on his dad’s guitar. He really has nailed down his dad’s style since then, the Arabian scale, volume swells, even did the finger tap one time as a cool homage, Derek liked that. 10 times more points for having to solo after Derek. I might have been too starstruck.
Great comment! I'm not a guitarist, but I think the finger tap must be at 11:51 ? Loved Derek's big smile there. 💖
Ty for sharing this
Takes a lot of heart to stand next to Derek on this
This is awesome. Hope they come together again when we see them in May in Miramar Beach
2 of the best & band is just smokin' hot!
amazing, the legacy these guys have. Doing this song justice
Glad to see this.
I was in DC on business and walked past the Warner Theater that evening and saw their names on the marquee wishing I could go in and listen.
AWESOME ❤❤❤❤THANKS ❤❤❤❤❤AGAIN ❤❤
Very rare to see a bass solo with TTB. Brandon kicks ass.
Both drummers are amazing
Sosorry to hear of Dickie passing. His son carries on the talent.
Mr. TRUCKS,GIVING HIS REPLACED(Allman Bros.) Dad's,SON A Lesson , About Dickies Signature Song!! ( Rambling Man , I Know.)😮
Band is awesome!
RIP Dicky Betts
Appreciate ya Ms Half Step for these vids
Awesome
So great
My God was that good😊
Great video
Excellent!
Nice to see young Duane get to play with a real guitar god in his prime! Having a guitar god for a dad just isn't enuf!
Duane is 45. He's a year older than Derek
@@hornsbykid I meant "Dickie's kid" by that, not actual age...
of course a deadhead would "tape" this, good job, thanks!
and after watching/listening to the whole thing, had to add - DAYAM!
Bring duane to Seattle in May please
that boy looks just like his papa
Holy shit are they good
I always want to give proper respect to the bassist when this song is performed. The bass is melodic but still anchors this song.
do you get all this footage yourself??, either way you are the goat man cheers
Trucks is one of the baddest motherfuckers on the planet
I went to Macon and saw ER grave recently.
absolutely nasty fooking bends at 7:02 and 7:30 - 7:50
If you close your eyes……..
Resident Rock And Roger Rolls... 🖕😁🤏😎✌️🌲🤘
Allman bros. it's like Kinzhal and Zircon to out run each other ,very brutal
..just a quick ?...where is Susan Tedeschi??...just a thought..
I might as well give up guitar No hope
I beg to ask, is this Dickie Betts or someone else ?
I thought it was CMaj7 and AMag7
I can't hear Falcon's floor toms at all!
Duane has really put on weight since he got married.
new face not dancer
What a cheep nostalgic garbage!
It’s called a tribute bro.
Pay your respects.
Sad for you.
There is not a less compelling professional guitarist on earth than Duane Betts. What a bore.
What should he be doing while playing? Would you be more entertained if he balanced a cake on his head, or if he set himself on fire while playing?
Listen with your ears and not your eyes 😉
His guitar playing, not his uninspired stage presence, was what I was referring to.
He hasn't got it , whereas Trucks has it in spades . Trucks is one of a very few players who moves me . Lots of slick operatives out there , but no soul in any of them .
he rips in the Blue Sky clip. I agree it's not always flowing in some performances...seems to have false starts and unrealized ideas at times. But the tone is very close to his dad. I guess it should be if he's playing Goldie@@richardchorley1593
