      I just jumped head first into xenon territory and im taking out the shipyards = no Ks and the dreaded I s, however some my squads have just fallen out the teladi some how, i swear when find out whos responsible shooting stations by accident heads will roll

    Ion is usually a good choice, single or in pair. I usually use 1 x Ion + 4 x Bolts on my Nemesis, which is acceptable universal setup against everything. It is good for capturing S/M ships (e.g. Minotaur Raider), in this case I use only single Ion to avoid destruction of target, and also against capital ships. I put Ions also on S class ships, which (used in grups) become almost OP with this kind of weapon. 10-15 small fighters destroy isolated K in about a minute with no losses, in system or out of system.
    About plasma: plasma turret is of course a good choice against slow moving or stationary targets, but as a weapon I prefer Muons, because of much higher sustained (not burst) damage. This is specific weapon which practically do not overheat. I destroyed solo few Ks using Pulsar with 2 Ions and 4 Muons (maybe not the most effective method but definitely fun in this paper-thin ship).
    And final note: when in doubt, use Argon pulses. It may be not the best choice, but definitely not the worst.

    My personal favorite against capital ships are thermal disintegrators. You can melt down their XL Shields pretty quick since thermal disintegrators partially ignore shields. Once their big shields are down its easy to finish them of with "typical" weaponry

    I understand why alot of players ask questions about what type of weapons to use with certain types of damage. I'm a new player to X4 and I must say this game is very confusing to me and complex but that's what I absolutely love about this game. I'm finding it difficult to make money I have 4 mining ships but they don't seem to want to automine even though I have it set to that. As for weapons I see alot of people use ion weapons.

      Dark InPresser , community @ egosoft.com forum will help you. Ship info/orders you can set up automining/trading if your captain is skilled enough. Resource probes will help miners to find good spots and satelites can help them to sell with profit.

    Im 2 years late, but thanks fro these videos, helped me alot who decided to jump back into X games, last i played was Rebirth and that made me stay away from X series until now. Spent way to much time playing this game this week, and have no idea what im doing half of the time.

    FLAK does shoot 4, but you get 2x damage. There is a dev post in the forum somewhere...

    For Raptor the Argon M Beams are ideal to melt any M or S away. Any other weapon needs longer because when the enemy flys transversal they do not hit, or the enemy flys away if taking some dmg. Raptor is the only ship that can mount enough of Beams to compensate the lack of dmg.
    Personally i like the L Split turrets most, because they look great-but they have the worst range.

    Hey Captain, loving your videos, keep up the great work. I do have a single suggestion, not sure what you think about it, but wouldn't the Space Operations Delta Logo look bad ass, if there was the actual Delta sign inside the triangle, opposed to just the "D" ?

    i love missiles
    all my ships use primarily missiles and missile turrets, i had to learn real quick how to set up an auxilary with a Bunch of small class couriers doing resuplies.

    i never take down shields when doing boarding operations. does it make that much difference? i just use burst rays to take out turrets and drives and board from there.

    I use the odd couple of missile turrets here and there as strictly anti fighter (maybe 1 m group per destroyer). For me the rationale is for longer than flak and pulse range damage. Also by only having a couple, ammo lasts long and when empty the ship isn't too crippled

    I prefer Paranid L plasmas. Faster projectiles means more hits to moving targets.
    I also find flaks totaly useless on L and XL. Bolt or pulse turrets are much better. Flaks are good on frigates and corvettes though.
    Also note, that if tou wish your AI controlled ships to stay at range, put beams or no weapons to M turrtes.
    Anything else makes your pilots suicidal maniacs.

    So what should I do if I want to arm a cerberus that's not for boarding specifically? It's the only good combat ship I have right now which I get from the story, and it's going to be my flagship for a while until I get better ship

    usually the main idea of flak is detonation near the target. Does it works like that or need direct hit in x4? Any reason for using shotgun turrets or they are useless?

      D. S. , look "logical overview" @station. There you find drones and what they need to get build (3 resouces, dont remember all but energycells, nanotronic?, dronesomething?). You have to deliver these goods.

    Did they change the dmg of ARG M Flak Turret Mk1 since this video? My Encyclopedia shows them with Weapon Output 82 MW in the video yours is showing 165 MW

    My L Ships have a hard time hitting the enemy. Even when using the Argon Flack most of the shots are missing the enemy. Lost an Osaka equiped with Argon Flak Turrets in an OOS Fight against 7 Xenon N.
    And how to avoid the massive collateral damage of the flak turrets? after a few seconds the whole sector comes for you.

      I mean, it's one ship against seven. Two Osakas wouldn't have this problem. 🤷‍♂️

      Another tip I saw elsewhere is to just go with Pulse turrets for the M-class on the Osaka. They're a kind of jack-of-all trades master of none. The projectiles are the fastest in game (for turrets that aren't missile or laser) and while they don't hit hard, they hit more often, and with multiple banks on the Osaka hitting targets, you'll whittle them down. Alternatively, Terran bolts aren't bad either on Osaka's (I am also very biased towards the blue bolt they fire, but aesthetics aside). they do alright against ships flying right at the destroyer. In one instance, I limped back to safety flying a single Osaka with some of the M-turrets knocked out and on 1 engine against multiple waves of small/medium class ships by having my L-pulses firing at everything with the bolts focusing the fighter screen. I also probably got lucky so they get the job done when they hit.
      But yeah, you can't go wrong with pulse turrets and for me. I hypothesize that projectile speed is more important for dealing with S/M's than turret rotation speed.
      But as Capt. Collins says in the response above this one, there's no subsitute for mutually supporting fields of fire...and escorts.... Even the defense drones help screen fighters more than I originally suspected.

    Forgive me for giggling, but every time you say "shard" (i.e. "shard turret") I hear "shart", which is basically a fart with a little solid follow-through :). Which, maybe that's what shard turrets do, I dunno, but it's funny as hell :).

    Swarm missiles in med slots actually works pretty well.
    But in generel, the reason you buy a destroyer is to have a perpetual damage machine you do not need to look after.
    For missile deployment, any m or s will do the same job, for less upfront cost.
    Always use fire and forget guided u less you are torp bombing.

    X3 Reunion still best ships, best space battles and best weapons by far. Really has no logic for every new game trying to reinvent the wheel instead of expanding and refining and adding in a sensible way
