- Bodycam footage shows police arresting a Florida woman after determining she was allegedly neglecting her children. Marion County deputies responded to a 911 call about a man screaming inside a Dollar Tree, claiming he was both Jesus and the devil at the same time. The man was Baker Acted and his wife, Cassie Quick, was questioned by officers after they noticed her kids were covered in dirt and begging for food. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner breaks down the shocking case.

I've been dressed crazy while my babies are clean. I've gone without food and my babies have been stuffed with food. I struggle but they have never felt it. Me and their father both do our part to make sure of that. She's kept nice and feed um sure. Pathetic
@@AmauriColeman when my children were younger . I was a single mother. I went without happily . So my children could have more of the little bit that we had. I wouldn’t eat dinner , or eat what they didn’t finish . I most certainly didn’t have fresh looking expensive tattoos like that mom does . But maybe she doesn’t know better , and that’s how she was raised . But it’s extremely sad . Pray and hope that when these kids grow up they don’t repeat the cycle.

A TEN year old that doesn't know their birth date, their own last name, and has never had anything resembling an education! That's an appalling thing, these poor children have clearly been horribly neglected their whole lives. This isn't a recent development with the husbands MI. It's clearly been an ongoing pattern of neglect and potentially worse from day 1.

There was a very rough time in my life many years ago but I planned each meal out with sales & coupons ect. They had 3 meals everyday & fruits for snacks.I would've never let my kids go hungry

She eventually became a lawyer and opened up the first women's resource center in the the state writing grants to open many others all over. Today ppl have no clue about hard times like us old ppl
That happens so often. I cannot get pregnant, & adopted my daughter & do everything to ensure she’s happy & healthy. Her biological mother is an alcoholic & meth addict that uses drugs while pregnant. When CPS arrived, my daughter had been in the same diaper for days, was extremely malnourished, her bottles were moldy, & she was hungry & crying while mom was passed out drunk during the day. 😢 This woman had 5 children including my daughter & they were all taken away from her. She would get kids taken & just have more, 4 different fathers. It’s not fair that neglectful women seem to easily get pregnant & people like me who actually WANT children cannot have them. She is my world though & I am so thankful for her! ❤

Most children can't wait to tell you their exact age, they famously say "I'm 5 and 3 quarters!" to make it sound like they're older than a just-turned 5 year old. For a 7 year old to not know their own age is honestly a huge red flag.

She didn't even thank the officer for grabbing her children food and feeding them, that's the least she could've done. Even if the officer had no problem and wanted to do it she should have at least thanked him for doing something that isn't his job to do.

If she was intentionally starving her kids, she might feel that they didn’t deserve the food the police gave them. Look at Ruby Franke. She intentionally starved her two youngest as punishment….and I doubt she would have appreciated the police feeding them.

DHS need to find a permanent home for these children asap! The dad has untreated mental health issues and has an established non-compliance history. Mom is not that moved by the possibility that the dad is no longer qualified to be a caretaker and the children maybe placed elsewhere. When she shrugged her shoulders about knowing the dad had been non-compliant with mental health treatment and said she had no other options of leaving the kids with him made me shiver. Although mom is the stable one between the two parents I'm not seeing a connection between her and the kids. She appears to have a flat affect about what's going on. She also appears to have mentally removed herself from her kids situation. Being pregnant with a third child is scary because this situation is going to get worst. Neither parent is capable or willing to be an appropriate caretaker for these children at this time.

Permanent placement isn't just there waiting on children. Dhs need to be involved, but it's kinda idealistic to think they will just be placed in a new, loving home.

when it turned out she'd had multiple interactions with dcfs, my jaw dropped. this was the behavior of somebody who had _never_ had her parenting called into question and assumed she never would, not someone who'd received warnings before!

The shocking age difference, her having not a single family member or friend who has intervened, the kids not being in school, and the fact she doesn't have a driver's license are all red flags for someone who has been groomed and is under coercive control. I'm guessing she is forced to go out and work to support the family. She has no emotional reaction and then the end she finally breaks down. I hope she gets help and the kids get a decent homelife.

The woman is around 36 the man, although feral-looking, is around 46 max (imagine him clean shaven, hair cut short clean and dressed - he's no more than 46/48. However, there are many may/nov relationships that do not pan out like this one where CHILDREN are the ones targeted for neglect and abuse. She is entirely evil and selfish.

Everyday I drive past this rode that has a bunch of peacocks that live around the area. This time of year is when they have their babies, and just today I saw one mama peacock HOVERING over her babies, like a shadow, protecting them as they explored their new surroundings. According to news agencies, the family lived on a bus in the woods. And it would appear they are a prime example of what homeschool advocacy groups are alarmed at; that parents are using the label as a means to cover-up neglect/abuse, both physically and educationally. Mom deliberately chose this lifestyle for herself and her children. She clearly has some mental health issues of her own.
The mother should have a mental assessment as well. Something is off with her and she is also an unfit, dangerous parent. Appears extremely narcissistic, as she is caring for herself very well and is unconcerned about her children, and has turned down assistance previously.

I have seen both of them multiple times, the father lived in the woods by my place for quite awhile, I would see her and him walking together. They had a huge setup with multiple tents and shelters. Would never have guessed she had a house.

When the officer talks about how his daughter slept funny last night and was sick, so he slept by her, and now he's paying the consequences (of putting his child first) you could TELL she did not relate! Any other parent would TOTALLY understand! My son doesn't climb in bed with us, he climbs ON me at night. I wake up full of sweat, sore, and unable to move because he looks so comfortable, i don't wanna wake him. Her? Shes never experienced anything like that, and it shows!

I was looking for someone else that may have noticed & commented about it & this is the only comment I found. He was beyond kind to both of them and was trying his best to be helpful/give advice in this really horrendous situation. I know this should be how ALL officers are but we all know that is not hardly the case. Props to him! I hope he keeps that compassion.

They’re usually based on financial need and/or if they fall below the national poverty line…which most people needing services of that nature do.
Unfortunately though, many people are unaware of the resources available to them &/or lack the ability (for whatever reason) to navigate getting the information & the application process. There are also people that are just too lazy, can’t be bothered or have no interest in trying to help their situation.
In this particular case, the father could even possibly qualify for disability based on his diagnosis of mental illness if they applied.

Whenever I hear about circumstances like this and the mom seems detached and her husband looks about 30 years older than her, I wonder about their relationship history and if there was a grooming situation that occurred. (Wouldn’t be the first time!) Mom is out of touch with reality if she actually believes dad “puts the kids before himself” while simultaneously refusing services, isolating and starving the children right along side her. Shes deluded if she thinks her kids are fine. She needs a psych eval of her own because clearly her empathy for her children and decision making capacity is significantly impaired. Those kids need a guardian ad litem pronto.
