Entitled Mother Assaults Officers After Being Arrested For Leaving Her Young Kids Alone

- Albuquerque, New Mexico- On October 19, 2021, APD officers were called out to the four hills studio apartments complex after receiving a 911 call reporting 2 very young kids being left alone by their mother.
Officers arrived and located a 7 year old girl and a 9 month old boy. It was reported that the mother who was identified as 27 year old Samantha Sanchez would leave her kids alone for 20-30 minutes at a time. Staff reported that Samantha had done this frequently for more than 2 weeks. Officers were able to call Samantha and have her come back home. Upon arriving, Samantha was visibly irritated by the officers being there and having been reported to police. Officers attempted to talk with Samantha in a civil manner before ultimately placing her under arrest for child abuse after she became belligerent and uncooperative. As officers were arresting her, Samantha decided to resist officers by pulling away resulting in them taking her to the ground. Officers were able to get Samantha into handcuffs but she continued to fight and kick officers before even pinching them. Backup officers arrived and placed feet shackles on Samantha before she was placed into the back of an APD unit.
Samantha was transported and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) on charges of battery on an officer, assault on an officer (attempted battery), abandonment of a child, and no drivers license. Samantha ultimately took a plea deal which dropped the battery on an officer and no drivers license charges in return for pleading guilty to the attempted battery and abandonment of a child charges. Approximately 6 months later, Samantha was arrested after she shot her little boys toes off after her and her boyfriend got into a fight. In that case Sanchez was charged with 2 counts of child abuse where she pled guilty. The District Attorney filed to have Sanchez held behind bars until trial however the judge denied that motion and released her on probation. Samantha faced up to 9 years behind bars, but she was ultimately given a suspended sentence of 1 year in jail and 5 years of probation.

I REALLY hope she has lost custody of those kids. She didn't even try to come up with an excuse for leaving her kid and infant alone. Instead she seemed proud for doing it.
When I was about 9 years old, my mom and her boyfriend left me alone at home for a couple of hours to eat out. I didn't want to go along, and I could be trusted not to do anything dumb or dangerous (but maybe not to handle an emergency). When she called to check on me, I ran toward the phone and banged my toes so hard I was sobbing. I told my mom it was no big deal, but she felt so upset and guilty for leaving me that they got home 10 minutes later. That was the only time she left me home alone until I was 12, and then just as a 'latchkey kid' after school. I get so disgusted by parents who have no qualms about leaving little children- and babies!- alone.
The judge who handled this case needs to be taken off the bench. This woman abandons her children, doesn’t see anything wrong with it, assaults cops, SHOOTS her son’s toes off and doesn’t get any jail time…this is a joke.

Insane! She’s 9…… I think at 11 yo (6th grade) can stay home for 10-20minutes for a quick store run but neverrrrrrrrrr to be left to care for an infant. I used to walk home from bus stop at 6th grade and stay home alone from 245-4pm starting in 6th grade at 11/12yo. I leave my 10yo home alone to run to a store a few blocks away for no longer than 20 min. I have his location on his iPhone, I FaceTime him, and call him a million times. I trust him, he’s very responsible. I would NEVER leave my 8yo daughter home with him alone. I don’t trust her and she’s way too young. Even when I walk my dog without my kids on my block, and my 8yo is home w my son, I stay on FaceTime w her, that’s how much I don’t trust an 8yo.

I gotta say - growing up in the 80s I was certainly left alone at home at age 7. Not long stretches, but a few hours here and there
I know of a mother who left a nine year old to watch a baby and the baby ended up falling out a two story window and almost died. The danger is real and her reaction was so disgusting.

I’d call her a egg donor, to be a potential parents you become a mom or dad, to become the next step is to become a parent a parent means teacher a parent equals a teacher that teaches discipline, love affection, basic understanding of life, and financial teaching. It is not a crime to teach your children early how to handle in finance their money that you will give them with their allowance. The minute you start giving your child an allowance. You should start showing them bills and then teaching them how to equalize their spending and understand how to stretch money.. phenomenal parents equals phenomenal children teach them how to treat others the way they would wanna be treated and teach them how to survive on their own early before it’s too late

Insane! She’s 9…… I think at 11 yo (6th grade) can stay home for 10-20minutes for a quick store run but neverrrrrrrrrr to be left to care for an infant. I used to walk home from bus stop at 6th grade and stay home alone from 245-4pm starting in 6th grade at 11/12yo. I leave my 10yo home alone to run to a store a few blocks away for no longer than 20 min. I have his location on his iPhone, I FaceTime him, and call him a million times. I trust him, he’s very responsible. I would NEVER leave my 8yo daughter home with him alone. I don’t trust her and she’s way too young. Even when I walk my dog without my kids on my block, and my 8yo is home w my son, I stay on FaceTime w her, that’s how much I don’t trust an 8yo.
In Michigan, you have to 13 to watch kids. The mother needs help before they give the kids back. I feel sorry for her kids

When I read your comment it made me think of that women who (falsely) told everyone her 8 year old son was being bullied and was depressed so she could then hang him and his four year old sister from rafters in the basement using a dog leash she bought specifically for that reason, and then said her son did it. And as both children sat on life support and then had the plug pulled, she went online and milked everyone for sympathy, including men she exchanged explicit pictures of her and her….. dog….🤮 with. I think this women is 100% capable of doing that.

Meanwhile those of use that wanted to adopt, are put through the wringer. Every detail of mine and my husband’s life was examined under a microscope. We were denied as he was on active duty….. apparently because we moved so often, we weren’t approved. So unless we had tens of thousands of dollars, to do a private adoption, we were out of luck.
