    I think everyone forgot Lacey's meltdown because it was an inevitability compared to Nilka; however, I think the biggest meltdown came from Giovanni in Season 5 because he had been pretty consistent all season. Only had a couple bad moments then in the top 6 the steakhouse chef completely failed on meat, talked back to Chef Ramsey, and severely burned Robert's hand because he put a 500° plate in the cooler without telling anyone. Turning a potential 3rd place or runner up finish into a 6th place finish.

    When you said Nilka wasn't #1, I thought it would be J! Since he sucked on fish, ruined both team's risotto, got booted midservice, and there were no other boots that nigh because they had NO chance after him. But, that was a GOOD curve ball as I forgot about Lazy Lacey. Great video!

    What's ironic about Vanessa's elimination in episode 3 is that she wasn't even one of the nominees for that night. Manda was the original second nominee, but Ariel (whose turn it was to announce the nominees) threw Vanessa in the bottom along with Meese, since she felt Vanessa was the actual weakest of the team. So basically, she did what Gabriel did to Ralph on Season 12, except Ariel wasn't trying to save herself. And yet this somehow started Ariel's villain arc for the season. Though I do wonder, if Manda and Meese went up, if Ramsay would've called Vanessa down anyway, as he's done that before. He probably would have.
    You are right about one thing though: Vanessa absolutely would've been the first out had the red team lost that service. Having basically the entire team bail you out is kind of a death knell in this. And honestly, I'm not sure who she would've been up against in the bottom there.

    I will say that Elise is a good enough chef, but she's WAY TOO INCONSISTENT service wise, and makes way too many service mistakes to get a black jacket let alone place third, especially given her performance in episode 14 of season 9(which was a worse performance than both of Elise's performance that you did put up there), which was horrific, I will say though that I think Tommy is a worse chef than Elise.

    Another great video! I'm looking forward to more of your future HK content. I was surprised Nilka wasn't #1, but the more I got to thinking toward the end of the #2 entry, I just knew #1 had to be Lacey. I don't think she's as awful as some HK fans make her out to be, but her constant whining definitely became nerve-grating. Like you said, at least Nilka tried to fight back and get through the service. Lacey completely gave up, and I'm surprised Gordon didn't eliminate or kick her out when she said she couldn't cook meat. On another note, I would rearrange some of these entries in their order, but I still respect your choices.

    An interesting observation I've noticed about some of these meltdowns that resulted in elimination (as well as eliminations on HK in general) is that Natalie, Frank (S13), Kashia, and Nilka, had their meltdowns on the fish station. Both Cheyenne from Season 21 on her AMA and Season 10 winner Christina Wilson on her Instagram stories have both stated that the fish station is one of the hardest stations (along with garnish) in Hell's Kitchen given how many likeable chefs and strong frontrunners had their HK runs end after a bad night on the fish station. There's the previously mention Natalie and Nilka, Mr. 100 aka Sterling in Season 13, Kevin (S6's runner up) when he returned in Season 18, Alison in Season 14, Cheyenne in Season 21, Anthony in Season 11, Van in both Season 6 and Season 17, even Jon Scallion (one of the most beloved chefs in HK) had his HK run end in Season 11 after he was placed on the fish station.

    • @ultranaticproductions3103
      @ultranaticproductions3103  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I went back and observed the 4 main stations (Apps, Fish, Meat, Garnish), to see which had the most eliminations, and Fish did by a considerable margin, though Meat came close to closing the gap.
      Now, while the stats would suggest fish being the hardest station, any individual chef might say otherwise, it's just going to depend on their experiences. But fish does seem to trip the most people up for whatever reason. I'm not a professional chef, so I don't know what those reasons are, but you're correct about it being an interesting observation.

Dude was getting so boggled down by his mistakes that he completely lost it out of nowhere. I believe that singlehandedly cost Brian a black jacket as he was definitely more consistent than Robyn but he couldn't keep his composure when it mattered the most which lead to Robyn getting a Black Jacket over him.

    Apologies if I keep commenting here, but for me, the meltdowns for me that are the most heartbreaking are when they happen to contestants I'm rooting for. Mainly because I want them to succeed and pull through, but they just can't. You already mentioned Natalie at the number 8 spot, but an another example I can think of was the first black jacket service from Season 3, the same one where Josh got booted mid-service and Rock threw a temper tantrum. During that service, Julia (my favorite contestant that season) was struggling on the garnish station and mentioned she forgot where the monkfish garnish was. Julia herself admitted during her confessional that it felt like she was missing and Ramsay accused her of giving up. You could actually see her crying in a couple of scenes and, again during her confessional, she was saying, "Okay, get it together, get it together." And then we cut to a shot of her in the confessionals crying and calling herself "stupid." Despite not being the biggest meltdown that season, that one hurt me as Julia was a rootable underdog that I wanted to succeed and go much further in the competition.

    • @ultranaticproductions3103
      @ultranaticproductions3103  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Comment as much as you want (as long as it stops short of spamming obviously), I otherwise don't mind that.
      And I agree, it's pretty heartbreaking when it comes to chefs you root for. For what it's worth, I doubt Julia was winning anyways. Yes she had a great underdog story, but she was showing weakness at that point in the season too, like in the F7 Part 2 reward, where she made a straightforward lobster risotto for the challenge, despite the goal being creativity. Not that she can't be, but given her lack of experience, she was doing her best to just perform professional before going fancy with dishes, and I can't fault her for that. But as who'd make a better winner b/w her and Rock in *terms* of creativity? Rock, with all due respect to Julia.

    Having completed Season 2 a couple nights back, would Virginia failing at making Beef Wellingtons in the season premiere also count as a meltdown? From what I recall, she brought undercooked Wellingtons to the pass, acted confused and told Ramsay that she had no idea what was on the menu and (in an act of desperation) went into the Blue Team's kitchen to look for lamb sauce only to be shut down by Keith. He unquestionably acted like a jerk...but based on how I personally defined "meltdown", that doesn't qualify. I said it would lead to a "tear-filled breakdown", which didn't happen at all to Russell. A loophole to that criteria would be if he were ashamed of his performance, but he wasn't. He blamed his team, not himself. So while that reaction is one of the most bitter things to ever happen in reality TV, I don't consider it a meltdown.

    Look at what happened when she switched teams. The Red team imploded into vicious catfights.
    She had a bad attitude, and the bullying didn't help.
    At least she wasn't Elise, who was had a bad attitude all around. Look at the beginning of season 17, when the women had to take down all the rafters and everything. She may have had the biggest guns, but she wasn't doing anything to help out, even commenting on how she could get hurt. There were scrawnier women who were working hard in the punishment.
