No one ever said you need 20k. Only broke people say this kinda thing and cant get by. I currently run a 14ft canoe with a $100 trolling motor. Stop making excuses and just go out there and have fun.
I love that with not only the number but the caliber of fish that you catch, no one gives a damn if you did it from a 100k Bass Cat or a 3k Gregor. I positive there are dudes that would probably trade their fancy boat for yours in a minute if they could do what you do with big bass!! Love it man!! Thanks for the breakdown!!
LOL hilarious when you called the john-boat a death trap. That is keeping me away from a 16-ft grizzly, I like that those don't have carpet, you easily place rubber mats and even wash it when it's dirty.
Seems like you need to Re Prop the motor and will get you more top end, If you go stainless will get more grip and less cavitation under turns and pitch up prop shouldn't lose any holeshot and just gain top end speed :)
Nice Rig Geoff! 👍 Seems every inch was designed with thought, it reminded me of Butches boats he built. No frills, no non-sense, just fishability! Great minds think alike…….. 🎉
Like i said! It works and it is used as a tool! Those silly people crying that you don't have a 'proper' boat are just pointless. It's fine if it works for you 😁 i would love to have a boat like this! But only time i get, i will be building lures for others to fish with 😅 but one day!!
Hindsight 20/20, as a friend I would've suggested just sticking with the trolling motor as your main mode of transportation if you're getting that much life out of it and if you can still get to some spots (maybe not all of your spots) and continue to save. Good thing a change of prop and/or motor height can help with the speed issue. Also would've added the extra weight for padding on the front deck. Cool build either way. Oh yea, moving to say a 45" shaft trolling motor will only be more of a nuisance when stowed and give you an extra 2-3" in the water. It's a pain to raise them when you need to go shallow and cumbersome if you're flipping.
Great video man! Love to see that we both catch more fish on our 14 foot Jon boat than those guys with those $50,000 bass boats! John boats are the way to go!
I've a 14 aluminum boat as well, the same 15hp Tohatsu 4 stroke that you own, a 55lbs foot pedal motorguide and 2 Garmin striker 7, the one in the console it's a side view model and both are connected to share waypoints and routes.
Another really fun video, Geoff. Thanks for the walkthrough. I love that it’s a humble, reliable boat. My trolling motor just went out and I replaced it with an old Motor Guide. Do you know of any videos that show the button repair you’re talking about?
Dude this gives me hope. I am an older dude but can't afford a full bass boat and yearly managing it. Also my Edge may be able to tow that. I been wanting to do this. i don't want to do the bigger standing kayak, too afraid to pull a Griff and loose all my megabass rods and gear.
I suggest you get in touch with Mike from tbnation let him build you a live well he lives in Arizona as well I'm surprised your fish tank hasn't cracked or busted
On my 1436 flat bottom jon... with a 2006 9.8 Tohatsu.... and me (215 lbs), my son, and my daughter (90 lbs ea)... I am able to get about 18.5mph with a 9 pitch prop. That is with the 55lb trolling motor and 100AH lithium up front as well. I wonder if all you need is a prop change/motor trim adjustment??? What width is your hull? I bet I could get around 23 to 25mph with just me in there. Not sure though. Nice fishing platform! Thank you for sharing it.
Weird looking Paddleboard but ok
😂😂
Humbled by stages of life🎉
😂😂😂
Lmao 🤣
You guys are so fuckin lame 😆
This goes to show that you don't need that 20k to get on the water. Love the setup and ingenuity, Geoff! Keep sticking them biggins!
20? or 200 lol?

10/10 vid. Love the education you bring when it comes to all aspects of fishing!!!

EPIC" WALKTHRU SWEET SETUP!!! GO CBF!!!
You must have read my mind, I was going to text you about your set up and how I should go about building mine. Perfect.
Nice Rig, Geoffrey! Thanks for sharing your boat with us all. More proof that expensive rigs are not required for trophy bass hunters!
she's a beauty! and functional!! The Battery pack idea is a great idea!!
Like i said! It works and it is used as a tool!

Very nice. I, too, spend a ton of time in my aluminum decked 1448.
Music selection is on point.

Thank you for this just what i needed! I will also building something like this. Such awesome rig!

I Live your boat setup and that live well is so cool,I’ve never seen that before ❤👊

Seems like a perfect first boat
I’m building a boat just like this ! Gives me butch brown vibes
Need to let TrickedTins have a go at it for you!
You got it dialed in that's for sure.
Cool boat bro!!

Sheesh didn’t know a 36” shaft was short🤣
I didn’t have a bass boat but I had a fiberglass tri-haul .
Hell ya I have a 14ft gotta work on it tho!
Simply is the best way to be
What do you use as your transom saver and did you put that in yourself?
So what your saying is there is a future vid of putting 7 people in the boat throwing Hinkle trouts
how have you mitigated the gopro over heating problems?
Maybe a jack plate for your outboard will help with ur speed..
i fish out of 12ft Gregor 80lb thrust motor guide it gets the job done searching for those big bites
The reason the boat is slower, is all the weight from your lure junkie swimbait collection 😂
You might be able to get the speed back up by upping the prop pitch
I’m surprised you haven’t gotten a bigger kayak…
Looks like my valco boat
‘Ol Faithful!
What year is your boat? Do you know the model??
May be engine mounting height or shaft length impacting speed...
that whole boat probably cost the same as your artex rod 😝
I’ve got a bunch of motor guide parts that you can have…shoot me a note
Have a 12ft that i want to register. The boat was given to me as a gift so i have no information on it. Can i still register it under my name?
Change your prop. Hp is hp, speed should be the same
What anime have you been watching recently?????
Just throw a 20hp carb on. It’s the only difference.
Not at all a Jon boat but cool
