    "I'm not making this boat look fancy like all these bass boats you see on TH-cam." -Makes the Jon boat fancier than all the fancy bass boats on TH-cam. Seriously, your boat looks great.

    Industrial Electrician and Maintenance Tech here. I've been in this field my entire adult life. Residential, commercial, industrial and line work. Don't listen to the inexperienced keyboard warriors. You might not be perfect or doing it their way, but it looks good to me. I thought about a way you could've done the control board a little different, but that was just a personal preference of mine. You did a good job. It was a good video.

    Fantastic job explaining the electrical elements of a little build. The mansplainer rant was a bonus. I am rebuilding my 12 ft v-hull once again. This time, to get it lighter and easier to load/unload, I am trying to make everything in the boat removable. I have more time than I have back strength and my favorite boat launch does not allow trailers.

    I stumbled on your channel yesterday. My wife and I watched a few of em. Wasn't looking for boat stuff at all. Spent a few years of my life building boats and jet ski's for a couple of companies though, so I can relate a bit. My wife flat out said "Is he your long lost brother or something because you two act exactly the same". I'm not aware of any long lost brothers but she made a damn good point. I cannot wait to get in here and hurt the scooters feelings. Time to start browsing comments.

    This video was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Never thought about a cut-off switch to shut everything down. It's on my shopping list! You are so right about skimping elsewhere, NOT on marine grade wire! I have one suggestion and you can take it or tell me to shove it. Next time a troll starts giving you shit about what they thought was wrong, etc. simply say "Thank you for sharing that with me." They never know if you are serious or screwing with them. If our paths ever cross remind me I owe you a rack of beer for taking time to share your expertise and time with us so we can get it right the first time. Thank You Sir!

    Gosh this seemd so simple when I first bought the boat. After a few more weeks and a few dead ends, finally getting to doing this wiring seems a bit more daunting to be honest. I am not an electrican by any means and props to you for getting this done so smoothly

      @@NICHOLASBYRNE3931no, if anything it adds slight resistance but nothing that would change the amp rating of the wire. Tinned is just good to protect from corrosion.

    Love the Haters portion ha!ha!....... Come to Alaska during the winter !!! I've seen light bars on everything , Hard Hats , bicycles , Mini Van's, and a few Subaru's with them mounted right in the middle of the hood lol ......... Oh but you know you also can never have to many either , you evidently need them for fog lights , at least one the bumper , some in the grill , a great big 60" on the top of the cab and don't forget about back up lights!!!! lol ........ all for a daily commute on a populated 2 lane highway!!! Oh by the way don't forget to upgrade those boring factory head lights to HID's !!!!
    By the way, that boat turned out really nice !!!!

    Fine job on the wiring. Agree with the statement about NOT grounding the electrical thru the hull but it has nothing to do with electrolysis, if any of your hot wires rub thru the insulation then you have a direct short with a potential for a fire if no circuit protection. Seen it happen.

    Great vedio. One thought to consider is a 40 or 50 amp auto breaker at the battery on the main power supply wire. If damaged that wire will melt as is. Breaker would protect wire and boat. Love your vedios.

    Great info. Thanks fir explaining the difference between marine wire and automotive wire. All this time I thought I was just being ripped off. I really like the battery disconnect switch: I need it install one on my duck boat.

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I thought the same thing for years until I actually researched it, and then experienced some wire issues myself from using automotive wire.
      The battery disconnect is awesome, and not expensive either.

    Great explanation. One question- both bilge pumps on same circuit? If there’s a bad ground or power connection, both pumps are not functioning.

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wiring is good quality so I am not worried about it and the rivers I use this boat in are about 6 inches deep... so I am not super worried about sinking if they go out.

    Great tips. Very clean results. Those green manjamas were awesome 😃. I like to use to use that adapter piece (Reflector Nozzle) that fits on the end of the heat gun to concentrate the hot air on the splice, it also helps to save you from toasting adjacent wires or overheating the insulation on the wires you are splicing. I couldn't tell if your heat shrink was marine grade , I use the marine stuff it has a built in sealer. See you on the next one!

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The care bear onsie is awesome! LOL
      I forgot to order some marine heat shrink, so I just used the regular stuff since the rest of the connectors had the sealer in it.

    Great video! I have 30-year-old marine wire on my old boat, it still works.
    The previous owner did all the Chartplotter wiring with normal wires, 2 years later it all failed and roasted the Chartplotter.
    Always use marine-grade electrical components and wiring.

    • @SendItJonBoats
      @SendItJonBoats  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing, I try to tell people all the time that marine grade is worth it.

      A bunch, probably 100ft depends on what all you are wiring.

    25:30 I would add some silicone on both ends of the heatshrink tubing after that. It will prevent corrosion from taking place and your connection should last two or 3 times longer.
