What could any atty for the Eagle's or Henley say?? The vocal waves were virtually identical. All it would do is have it validated in court, when a court agrees it was a pre-recorded vocal. And FAR more people are likely to hear about it then, then those of us wise enough to follow Fil lol ETA and that likely would open the door to countless people who paid big bux for tickets into a class action lawsuit saying they paid to hear live vocals. It could potentially lead to a huge, expensive mess! Especially since Fil proves the point. They would be smart to ignore and pray people don't hear about it

I saw Fil's video (I have been subscribed to him for years). He does a great job in his all of his videos to show the greatness of so many performers. Love his videos on so many great guitar players, and vocalists. He really tends to be complimentary. Even in his analysis of the Eagle's vocals, he was not condemning, he only showed the facts.

Henelys performance of Desperado in 2023 was 98% identical to his performance of the same song in 2024. In the studio, it's likely some effects were added to the Henley vocal to make it sound live. Fil Henley of wings of Pegasus is exacting in his song analyzes. All those people who spent money to see the eagles perform live we're cheated by Henley (perhaps others) by Don not doing his job and miming another version of Desperado. If I'd been there and paid, I'd be absolutely livid. Thanks Fil and Wings of Pegasus. And thanks to this channel for joining in, adding an extra voice to the eagles participating in something that should be against the law.

That sounds as absurd as the time Saul Zaentz sued John Fogerty for plagiarizing his older songs just because John didn’t have ownership over his original catalogue that Saul purchased. He criticized Fogerty for creating songs that sounded too much like himself and even the judge felt confused

I am a huge eagles fan and while i hope this is false the video I seen on wings of pegasus site is a well put together piece and knowing how the eagles deal with things I think the fact they haven't had this taken down speaks volumes, now as I said at the start I am a huge eagles fan, and there are 2 sides if the coin. I can understand. That using ba king tracks coukd give the fans a better performance on the night, but I woukd rather hear one if my fave artists performing live on the night with dodgy vocals than have them mime, nowadays fans are not allowed phones etc at gigs to stop videos if shows being recorded,I think it's time that some sort of legislation is brought in that if artists are doing a live tour they should be banned from using backing vocal tapes so the fan's are getting what they pay for especially with ticket prices as high as they are now

Lip sync or fake "real bands" like Journey with Arnel Pineda. All the same in my opinion. Don't get me wrong...I like Arnel, but it's not Journey. There's a market for these cover or fake bands and so the bands sell it. A lot of rich boomers want to re-live their childhood. Perhaps it reminds them of their first kiss, or first car. I get it. I personally wouldn't go to these concerts. I choose not to reflect back on my teen years too often because I tend to want to go back...and I can't anyway. Life is great right now in my 60s, so I need to enjoy the moment here and now.

Same with Steve Perry. I personally believe that's why Steve cuts his own albums, but never returned to Journey. Steve's voice is still ok, but I think it would become painfully obvious if he tried to sing songs like LaDoDa...that he just can't do those songs anymore. Most of these artists have tons of money, so I don't see why they do this sort of stuff. But hey...it's the people's money and they will fork out hundreds of bucks to see these cover bands. Honestly, I don't understand it, and I personally would rather see a tribute band because they are usually 5x cheaper. But that's just me I guess.

I’d say context is required. A solo musician like Buckethead plays live guitar over backing tracks (the “band”), and there’s nothing fraudulent because he makes no attempt to hide it or deceive the audience. There’s no one on stage besides him, so it’s impossible for anyone to think humans are playing drums and bass live in his concerts.

    • @circlemover
      @circlemover 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Not true. The artist is there and performing live on stage even it is lip-synced. Its still a performance. How an artist presents live, is up to them. As it is up to the individual to go and watch the performance. Don't get hung up on using technology and post-production tracks on live performance. After all, the artist makes the music in the first place and produces the backing tracks. Many vocalist have ruined their voices on arduous live tours, after all, they are only human.

    • @dannyc7839

Depends on the genre. I just saw Gary Numan, and he was fantastic for his age, but his style of music has many layers to replicate live , even with a band. So some are obviously backing tracks or samples. The Eagles on the other hand are known mostly for their vocals and vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars , so Henley in particular deserves to be ridiculed.

      @christophercripps7639 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I guess heritage works because at least one original is left. After that it is a tribute band or cover band unless promoted by the “Eagles” (rock band)* trademark owner. There is a TM & SM owner who can trot out any old live bodies to go so far as to lip synch & fake playing to backing tracks.**
*As opposed to the NFL Franchise Philadelphia Eagles LLC which owns “Eagles” Reg’d TM for various sorts of apparel offered for sale in a “different market.” The Eagles of Henley is a Reg’d Service Mark owned by Eagles LTD in Cal. and covers “entertainment services provided by a music group in the form of live performances.”
**”Live performances” under TM law is probably classified as a “service” and “live” would seem to include a living body lip synching in front of a living audience. There is probably a Red’d TM that covers the products & goods of music and entertainment distributed on tape, vinyl, CDs, streaming, etc.

Fil’s Wings of Pegasus channel is amazing, I really respect how he calls out things like this. He has done several things on autotune and pitch correction that also show how as music lovers we are being ripped off.
As to the Eagles , I am a huge fan, but I do not see them as a band anymore, it's shameful if Don is miming and sadly now Glen has passed away, it feels like they have become their own tribute act. I would be happy if they recorded another album with the latest lineup and toured with that(with tickets that are actually priced realistically), but I wouldn't cross the road to see them doing what they are doing now.
We need people like Fil and yourself to keep getting the message out there regarding how we are being duped, and we need the bands/acts to listen and respect the fans again.

I honestly don't think it would get the reaction you think it would. Back in the 70s-90s, sure, this would be sacrilege, but have you seen the younger acts of today, the ones people are shelling hundreds to see? With as much dancing and gyrating, you'd have to have ungodly breath control to keep pitch & tempo while dancing all over the place. Audiences today are used to act using backing tracks and probably miming, because they are entertained by the spectacle. Musicality and respect for live music were things that past audiences cared about, not todays' audience.

      I am in your camp.
I remember the Rolling Stones at the Super Bowl. Compared to earlier live videos quite a bit rougher at the SB. I think Stevie Nicks has kept it fairly real. Compare “Edge of 17” live at Red Rocks or at the Whiskey in the ‘90s (?) to Crystal Visions (Melbourne 2006) or at Chicago: not as sweet vocals as Rumours and maybe auto-tuned but different arrangements. (All/mostly available on YT.)
I remember listening to an old Grand Funk RR live album on vinyl (parent’s) which on the jacket clearly stated the recording retained all the grit of a live performance - crowd noise, buzzing, etc.

The way Fil breaks down any video is quite frankly amazing. Add to it that he's an accomplished musician himself makes his analysis videos that much more compelling. Fil has made it a mission to point out the state of today's music and the fact that most musicians and / or producers feel the need to mechanically alter EVERY singers' voices is a sad state indeed. As for Don Henley, why would it surprise anyone that he isn't singing. The mans 76 yrs.old touring day in day out was tough at 36. Michael your video made me look at recent live Eagles concerts. Yes Don Henley is looking sad, I noticed during Desperado he grasps the microphone with two hands (to hide the lip sync) and is heavily backlit. Maybe whats more alarming is it's taken a few years for concert goers to unpick this fraud. With Kiss it only took a few initial concerts of the EOTR tour for hardcore fans to pull up audio analysis of the concert sound. It revealed every concert was identical, and Pauls vocals never altered. As we all know the EOTR tour went of forever. This revealed to many when Paul was caught away from the microphone yet was clearly in the soundtrack or when the sync skipped a gear and the drumming track drifted from the instruments. It only takes one missed que to reveal the little man behind the curtain running all the smoke and mirrors.

I’m fine with an occasional backing track, such as a synth loop needed for a specific song, but lip synching lead vocals is ridiculous. This also removes any possibility for improvisation, since all tracks have to run at a specific time in the song. What if the guitarist wants to play an extra 16 bars of solo? Can’t do it, the vocal track is timed to come in at a set time. I’ll be saving my money for live bands instead.

Back in the 80’s I was starting, put in a show in park west, park city Utah, don was promoting his solo record “ building the perfect beast “, Danny Kortchmar, burnin lead guitar.
Don utilized something called “ Lyn drums” a sequencer, sampler, for playback of the horn / synth parts on “ Sunset Grill”.
My memories of him are pleasant, very fussy- professional.

I was 23, graduate of “ Sound Master” under the brilliant Brian Ingoldsby/ Hugh Allen.
    ABC/ Dunhil- Gotham NY/ Scully-Neumann.
I saw the first Digital recorder, called “ Sound stream”. 8 bit -4 k. It sounded fake.

Macca's voice is clearly not what it once was (surely one of the greatest vocalists in his prime, I would suggest, but not over the last 15-20 years admittedly) but at least the fella is honest in concert and gives it everything he has with his fading chops. We are all getting older now, and just like the rest of us, his high notes are ruff, happens with age. It just does. I sent Fil's link to him. He was furious! Called FIL a Lil weasel. Lol. Swears if anyone can still sing perfectly, it's Henley! 😮 I used to sell pro audio gear in 1998, I knew this was going on with many big time singers, just by the gear they bought, ( in pseudonyms) of course, for their home studios, their production companies, including all touring engineers. We all had to sign NDA's, for certain clients. It's been an industry norm for a long time. Double edge sword really, how heartbreaking to hear them sound awful, as well as knowing what we now know. Some artists don't lipsync. Change the key is a better choice for me! We all grow older. Vocal chords change with wear! Lying for the big bucks, isn't cool. But oh well. I'm gonna say it, Henley has ALWAYS been a music nazi! Wink wink. It IS true.

It's Don Henley playing the songs of The Eagles. Another example is The Who. They should be called Who's Left. Foreigner is also not Foreigner. And the list goes on..... I would definitely rather hear the artist sounding not so good, as opposed to backing tracks. And like the Bible says, the love of money is the root of all evil. You hit that nail square in the head! I personally would not fund their retirement.

I would have loved to have seen the original Who. I play bass and John is probably my all time favorite bass player . I do reject any use of auto tune, because I find it physically painful to hear (as far as I know, Queen doesn’t do that, but aside from this song, I’m not a big fan).

Notice how the big screens never have any close ups of him doing lead vocals? Audience photography allows us to see the scam at least and it's shameful! Felder and Meisner were victims of the greed and bullying of Henley and Frey for a long time. No idea how Gill, Walsh and Smith go along with the fraud. 1. Timothy got chosen by Glenn to quickly replace Randy because he asked Irving about him and Irving said he saw Timothy drunk at a bar but even he questioned the choice and Goenn just saud hes sure of it. Timothy probably just is happy he had that lucky chance to land a spot in a great band and he more than respects Randy for the fact he refuses to sing Take It To The Limit
      2. My idea of Joe Walsh continuing the Eagles tours is Michael's guess that he sees joining them as his way of sobering up and probably finds it easy to just stay with them
      3. Vince Gill is star power. He surely isn't an Eagle from how late he joined

Wings of Pegasus has a new video, in which he demonstrates more with that sound analysis program. He pretty much perfectly sings the same note 3 times in a row, and visually, the line doesn't match at all, due to the imperfections in the vibrations of our vocal cords. He then shows how a recording of Don Henley singing "Desperado" in 2015 (actually live), and it doesn't at all match up with three other recordings in more recent years (which match up perfectly with each other). Many, many moons ago ELO was accused of using prerecorded strings and other instruments during its "live" concerts. It was proven true and ELO's reputation (for their concerts) was deeply sullied. And then came along that wonderfully talented duo "Milli Vanilli." They had to give back their Grammy because they lip-sync'd *everything!* Now, "artists" have no issue at all charging $ hundreds and $ thousands to do the same thing.

If they don't do this, THEN IT'S FRAUD!!!!!!!!
You're paying for a LIVE PERFORMANCE! If they're lip-syncing or using prerecorded material, then the consumer should know that so they can make an INFORMED DECISION on whether they want to pay so much to see them. That seems fair!
