Thanks for helping me go naked mate! ☺️ I had a great time on the Super Duke & looking forward to sharing my version of events 😁 thanks for the shoutout too, really appreciate it 😎👍
No worry matey thanks for letting me try your beast, my doesnt it sound amazing!! Really looking forward to seeing your version, hope the lost audio is too bad
Lamb Chop Rides Your welcome mate, it’s great to see and hear the bmw in your hands! The video itself is great, the lost audio is awful, hopefully it’ll still be fun to watch 🤞☺️
Mate, just sold my Gen 2 SDR after 12 months of ownership (funny that eh) and bought a 1290 Super Adventure S and I'm loving it. I reckon for the roads I ride, I'm faster, safer and definitely having a whole lot more fun. Done more miles in 2 weeks than I'd done in 6 months on the Super Duke. Horses for courses 😉 You'll never find the perfect bike, but the one that makes you smile the most is the one you should keep. Then buy another for comfort, another for the scare factor, another for short blasts, another for sunny days, another for commuting, another for... 😂
very true Nick, I do the love the SDR but just a few niggles which annoy me. But I think its like any bike, none of them are perfect. Im really enjoying the GSXR which has shocked me as thought I was done with sportsbikes, so much so Im considering buying the longtermer I have.. But thats another story / vlog haha
@@LambChopRides haha, never say never. Given the time (and the money (and space)) I'd like to see a 790 Duke next to my 1290 SAS. It'll do what I need it too on the naked front. I guess it's about priority. Knowing what I know now, I should have kept my 1190 Adventure I had and bought a good used gen 1 1290 SDR. I'd have been better off, but hey-ho...
Jeez mate you really did get the sound of Grizz’s 1000RR and the performance of an incredible machine - now all we have to do it get the same recording equipment for SGM, done bloody well...
Hi Lamb Chop, I have the KTM 1290 SD Gen 2 and have invested in Andreani fork cartridge kit plus fork springs suited to my weight. I wasn't quite convinced by the Ktech fork service option so invested a bit more in a cartridge kit and it has transformed the ride quality and front end feel. I am now ordering a 180 x 185 rear spring to suit the front end work that I have had done. The Gen 2 isn't perfect (but is any bike) but it can be made a whole heap better. The Andreani kit fits your bike also, maybe try an upgrade first to get rid of the front end choppiness (pardon the pun) before blowing a bigger wad on a bike swap?.
Yes I think I did. Even if I decide to sell it (perhaps for a Super Adventure R as per Nick Bennett) i thought it whoever buys it next would only need to buy springs to suit there own weight and style of riding at circa £85.00. So in theory this should increase resale value in my head??. I also recently purchased an BMW R1200GS 04 model with full Ohlins suspension and an Akrapovic can for bugger all money. I am genuinely amazed by how good a bike that is as a road bike. I have to say that adventure bikes are bloody good on the road. God I sound old.
Still love the GSXR. I’ve ridden a couple of the new litre bikes and its definitely got the edge.. The sound of that Beemer is very sweet when you get in the power Band..
That s1000rr sounded very mean when pushed :). I also think maybe a tuono 1100 may be a good balance point for you. 1/2 way between sport bike and upright naked. That or an s1000r. I bought an '18 this spring and love it more and more every day. It definitely is a grower
Whatup chop 👍🏻 a pal of mine just recently brought a 2012 BMW S1000RR and let me ride it. First impressions of it were blimey little quicker than I'm use to but as time went by other than the obvious power difference to my 2013 Daytona 675R I actually preferred my Daytona 675R it felt more nimble and would you believe it better put together!! I'm not biased at all towards my bike just with it being a super sports i just felt more involved with the ride throwing it through the gears and chucking the bike about. Ive recently being looking at a lot of litre bikes 2016 ZX10R GSXR 1000 the 2017 obviously 2015 R1 but tbh I don't know whether I actually want one now 🤔 have you ever rode a Triumph Daytona 675R? If so id love to hear your thoughts if not would you consider trying one out id so love to get your feedback on it 👍🏻
Nope never riden the 675 but would imagine it's fantastic! Will try and get on one let you know my thoughts. Lot to be said for middleweight bikes on the roads
Lamb Chop Rides that would be fantastic mate like I said would love to hear your thoughts 💭 and I absolutely agree the super sports imo is great on the roads very useable and realistic power 👍🏻
@@FingersRides probably LED headlights and a bit more HP but i don't see how they can top the current Tuono. It already has all the latest tech and is future proof for the next 5 years at least
Ask your mate if he wants to buy a full exhaust system ?? It a Austin racing inconel headers 90mm big bore titanium link pipe and gp1 end can in titanium and carbon fibre ,took it off my 2011 bmws1000rr it's amazing bit of kit and sounds stunning !! £1000 cost over £2300 a few years ago :) taa
Your mods on the 2.0 would be lovely. I’m getting a little bored after a year and 9k miles but I’ve covered more miles on the SDR than any of my previous 5 bikes..... I still think the Tuono is too temperamental - my 1100 V4 had its issues and checking the forum there are still plenty of unhappy customers. I think we will see a new SuperDuke, Tuono and S1000R within the next 12 months. I’m holding out for the updates before making my next move!
Agree with you Jim, I think its itchy feet syndrome more than anything else! I too am going to wait out for a newer model, perhaps a Ducati V4 naked could tempt me... :-)
Cool intro 👍. Not sure about the bmw, looks nice, sounds awesome but it's missing something. It seems to look like a gentleman's sportsbike 🤔. Good review 👍👍👍.
Why did you change your into, I liked the other one which is like a cartoon ! That BMW looked ok, but the blue windscreen was a bit gaudy and the exhaust was a little loud, but it looked like you were having fun until the rain started getting heavy and then you went for a cold one, all is not lost !
Another new bike coming? My mrs calls its " new and shiny" when i start finding fault in my current bike and then trolling bike shops and youtube reviews
Lamb Chop Rides I have a 2011 so I was shouting at the screen lol! There’s not much down low on the gen 1 especially when you stick a full system on it. Still awesome bike even after 8 years. Best sports bike for sub 10k I think & ive had most.
That does sound lovely through the gears👍🏻👏 Listen to you sounding like a proper journalist Chops!!!! Well did you refrain?....or did you gorge yourself ya greedy bugger?🤔🤪👍🏻😎
so it's got an dongle mate. an illegal message comes up on the dash. forget that, they all do it. The back brake aint got ABS and the front brake aint all that. But try and pop some mingers. I'll leave all the electronics on. I mean off. Dunno! Ahhh, balls to it. Just go and have some fun!!!!!!
the powerparts triples have a steeper fork angle which gives you more responsive steering, maybe try going back to the stock ones? also, IRC makes a qs for the 1290 that has up/down with auto blip, dont upgrade, the gen 1s are so much better!
David West gen 1’s are so much better, you joker 🤣 clearly the 2.0 is a better bike... Not that the 1.0 is a bad bike, just a little rough around the edges.
