'Her' style reminds me Mary from Ib like blond haired and green clothes. When 'she' changed to him it's fuckin cute. Lovely game, bit sad but happy ending somehow.
This kind of reminds me of the tragedy of Bruce/David Reimer and John Money's unethical experiment with him, since a part of the genitalia were damaged during surgery when he was a baby, Money suggested for him to have a sex change and for him to be raised as a girl, his parents complied and they tried to raise Bruce's twin brother as a boy and him as a girl. However this didn't go well and Bruce started rebelling more and more, he managed to live somewhat of a normal life as a guy when adult but he ended up comitting suicide at 38. It's sad but there's enough nutjobs out there forcing their child into the other gender before they even hit puberty for their own interests. Parents who do that should frankly have their child taken away because they're putting that kid onto the path of suicide.

It's a simple story, it explains itself alittle too much, but I think it's overall pretty tight. Is it wrong I feel bad for him though? Having to deal with stigma and then having it all be for nothing. I know he's a murderer but seriously those guys were assholes.

I love seeing rpgmaker games with polish, I love when you can look at the gameplay and not see ugly sprites and instead see fantastic proportional art. Hopefully this game dont disappoint.
It was really nice to see an rpg maker horror game. Although the plot was really predictable, I really enjoyed watching Manly play this game. The art was nice and I agree that it didn't overstay its welcome. Thanks for playing and sharing Manly.
Not bad. I do feel like the gloom is a bit too heavy, especially the idea that no one at school would speak up for him. Perhaps that's just his personal hell focusing solely on the negative though, making Matryona forget anything positive (bullying can tend to make you ignore the good around you at times). The highlight here in my opinion would the CGs, I think they look quite nice for a short free RPG Maker horror game.
I feel like this game should have been made much sooner, kids bullying a guy for dressing like a girl seems like old news, but that's because my high school years are long gone, thank goodness.
Just finished... Damn... Just... Damn. That was dark. I understand most of it, but I need clarification on something. So, he murdered his family for obvious reasons, I get that much... Then things get weird. So, was he stuck in some kind of purgatory for murdering his family? Doomed to relive those last few days until he deviated from fate? Got kinda lost there. Also, after deviating, he was reincarnated into a normal life? Why? Did it have to do with some symbolism about shedding his hair? Like I said, the base story is pretty simple, then it gets complicated with the whole purgatory thing thrown in... I understand WHAT happened, but some of the symbolism and reasoning is eluding me. Sorry if I sound dumb or if I missed something obvious lol
Yes, it wasn't actually a time loop it was just how they interpreted the events of being in limbo. Making the deviation and acceptance was what allowed them to be reincarnated in the end.
Ah, I think I get it now. Thanks to you both :) Gotta say, I actually really enjoyed this. When I heard "RPG- Maker horror game", I was expecting more traditional style of horror (jumpscares, monsters chasing you, etc. I was definitely expecting to see something in the mirror lol), but I was pleasantly surprised when it took a more down-to-earth afterlife and reincarnation theme with, like you guys said, themes of regret, breaking free, and acceptance. Anyway, thanks for the responses and making this a little clearer to me.
I think the hair cutting thing was mainly symbolic of cutting away the past and all that, but I do recall there being a huge tradition of cutting one's hair in Japanese folklore when someone completely cut themselves away from their family and people so it might have something to do with that.

I can't help but feel that on the next looping day he might have just commited suicide and didn't kill his family. He let his build hatred condemn himself and his family for what they all had done to him. When he cut off his hair, it was his first but small step to freedom from being a doll. Taking his own life on his own hands was another but major step since it's his way of saying "its my life now"; hence the true ending of him looking like he was reborn into a "different world". That different world may just be simple as a new family. So his previous family may be alive after the loop ended and just cast him away as just a dead body. I really disagree with what they had done; but killing them is not the best answer since they already carry no regret nor care for their son. In this case death was the door to freedom and take charge of his own life. It's kinda how I see it and again I apologize! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Simple concept, decently executed, bit too much telling for my taste, especially since the plot was predictable enough for Manly to call it within the first few minutes. Main good point is the art quality. Makes me think of Charon games in that way

Actually, here in Russia where I live some parents are also crazy about gender norms, so real girls are often raised this way as Matryona was. So I kind of hoped it won't be a twist that matryona is a boy. But, whatever. Not a bad game, not a good one either.

Well, seeing this 6 years later, it and especially the comments section certainly is a "time capsule".... Am I seriously the only person that feels bad for the father? Like yeah, he should've stood up for his son against the mom, but he actually seemed nice and not malicious like the other two... And of course, he got it the worst despite that. If it was an @bu5ive overbearing father and a kind but meek mom just going along w/ it to appease him, I'm pretty sure a ton of people would sympathize with her. What's especially wild is there are real life cases like this where the dad DID try and stop the mom, and got demonized for it. So, I guess dads just can't win... Doomed either way.

Interesting game - very sad with the normal ending. Wished the MC didn't jump off the veranda. In my opinion somehow the true ending is rather heart aching to see as it would seem like a far away dream (which never happened in the reality)......but anyway, just opinion only since others see it differently QwQ...
This game didn't leave much up to the imagination, but I think it's preferable to games that leave EVERYTHING to the imagination. I get lost easily, and take things pretty literally, so a lot of otherwise good games just confuse me. PERFECT EXAMPLE--Pocket Mirror. Loved the game, but I would have been so, so lost the entire time had it not been for Manly's pro figure-outy skills.

Also, NO ONE - teachers, counselor, nurse, principal, nosy neighbors, NO ONE - followed up at Matroyana's home? That is one mighty flawed premise. I appreciate the message really. No one wants to live out the unrealistic, unfair expectations of others about anything & parents can be horrible. Sadly tho, stabbity stab, lemme cut my hair. ta-da the timeloop is over is not a story. If this is a first game, I hope the dev takes the time next time to actually make a plot to deliver the message without whacking the player over the head with it.
+NaturalFlirtGamer I don't think the hair cut was supposed to end the time loop. The first timeline perhaps was supposed to be left open with the "maybe I can escape" line. There is no confirmation nor denial of this, and perhaps the dev intended so. The dev, however, mistakenly placed the second timeline immediately after the open end, thinking it would better match the flow of thought, when all it did was imply false connections. The presentation of the second timeline is supposed to be completely unrelated to the gameplay of the first timeline. Alternate timelines occur simultaneously, after all. Throwing in the alternate timeline at all, however, I didn't like. It's probably for those who wonder what would have happened if a few things were changed. While the sentiment is nice, doing that in a game not focused on alternate timelines only winds up raising more brows. Why not show little bits of even more timelines? The consideration to do something to please the gods of headcanon was nice, but it shouldn't be done with only one variation. Zero Time Dilemma gave players enough choices and enough timelines that players wound up not needing (or wanting) to ask for more. This game here took the player's what-ifs and answered one. But that's no good. Either answer none and let the game be open ended like a strange dream, or answer so many player's heads start to hurt. But not exactly one! Don't do that to your players! _"But he's a guy..."_

NaturalFlirtGamer Thinking about it, why don't we treat the MCs house as a separate space. If he's stuck in a time loop, it can easily happen. He kills his family, they decay, he commits suicide and it resets. In real life, he may already be dead and this is just his form of hell. I'm just making assumptions here but the loop has probably happened more then 2-3 times. He just follows the loop until in one loop, he finally does something different. He finds the scissors and cuts his hair. This probably allowed him to escape from whatever force was keeping him there. He was reborn and this is the true ending. Let's be real, if the developer made us do more then a few loops, we'd have a similar situation to the "Endless Eight" episodes from Haruhi. It's not fun and it just pisses people off. As for why no one interferes, think about it. His neighbors knew his family was abusing him psychologically by making him be a girl. He had no friends and everyone was disgusted with him. If they don't care about him, what reason do they have to follow up on him and look into his life. Even if he was alone until the bodies decayed before entering the loop, no one would care enough to see the situation. I mean, using myself as an example, I can disappear for a month and the friends who I'm close with wouldn't say anything. It's really easy to not be concerned with other people, even if you know them. This is twice as true, if you find them disgusting.
This actually happens to intersex people. Their parents often choose (or are coerced by the doctors) to force unnecessary cosmetic genital surgery on them at birth so that they fit uniformly into one sex. If that doesn't sicken you, you have issues.

I can't help but feel that on the next looping day he might have just commited suicide and didn't kill his family.
He let his build hatred condemn himself and his family for what they all had done to him. When he cut off his hair, it was his first but small step to freedom from being a doll. Taking his own life on his own hands was another but major step since it's his way of saying "its my life now"; hence the true ending of him looking like he was reborn into a "different world". That different world may just be simple as a new family. So his previous family may be alive after the loop ended and just cast him away as just a dead body. I really disagree with what they had done; but killing them is not the best answer since they already carry no regret nor care for their son. In this case death was the door to freedom and take charge of his own life.

Actually, here in Russia where I live some parents are also crazy about gender norms, so real girls are often raised this way as Matryona was. So I kind of hoped it won't be a twist that matryona is a boy. But, whatever. Not a bad game, not a good one either.

Well, seeing this 6 years later, it and especially the comments section certainly is a "time capsule"....
Am I seriously the only person that feels bad for the father? Like yeah, he should've stood up for his son against the mom, but he actually seemed nice and not malicious like the other two... And of course, he got it the worst despite that. If it was an @bu5ive overbearing father and a kind but meek mom just going along w/ it to appease him, I'm pretty sure a ton of people would sympathize with her.
What's especially wild is there are real life cases like this where the dad DID try and stop the mom, and got demonized for it. So, I guess dads just can't win... Doomed either way.

In my opinion somehow the true ending is rather heart aching to see as it would seem like a far away dream (which never happened in the reality)......but anyway, just opinion only since others see it differently QwQ...

This game didn't leave much up to the imagination, but I think it's preferable to games that leave EVERYTHING to the imagination. I get lost easily, and take things pretty literally, so a lot of otherwise good games just confuse me.
PERFECT EXAMPLE--Pocket Mirror. Loved the game, but I would have been so, so lost the entire time had it not been for Manly's pro figure-outy skills.

Even suspending belief, this story was very hard to swallow. Somehow everyone's body decayed even tho Matroyana was in a time loop? Whatever. The specifics don't even matter. If they did, the MC could have just used a bone to break the glass... wait, how long was the MC living alone before jumping that the bodies decayed? Again, whatever. Also, NO ONE - teachers, counselor, nurse, principal, nosy neighbors, NO ONE - followed up at Matroyana's home? That is one mighty flawed premise.
I appreciate the message really. No one wants to live out the unrealistic, unfair expectations of others about anything & parents can be horrible. Sadly tho, stabbity stab, lemme cut my hair. ta-da the timeloop is over is not a story. If this is a first game, I hope the dev takes the time next time to actually make a plot to deliver the message without whacking the player over the head with it.

I don't think the hair cut was supposed to end the time loop. The first timeline perhaps was supposed to be left open with the "maybe I can escape" line. There is no confirmation nor denial of this, and perhaps the dev intended so. The dev, however, mistakenly placed the second timeline immediately after the open end, thinking it would better match the flow of thought, when all it did was imply false connections. The presentation of the second timeline is supposed to be completely unrelated to the gameplay of the first timeline. Alternate timelines occur simultaneously, after all.
Throwing in the alternate timeline at all, however, I didn't like. It's probably for those who wonder what would have happened if a few things were changed. While the sentiment is nice, doing that in a game not focused on alternate timelines only winds up raising more brows. Why not show little bits of even more timelines? The consideration to do something to please the gods of headcanon was nice, but it shouldn't be done with only one variation. Zero Time Dilemma gave players enough choices and enough timelines that players wound up not needing (or wanting) to ask for more. This game here took the player's what-ifs and answered one. But that's no good. Either answer none and let the game be open ended like a strange dream, or answer so many player's heads start to hurt. But not exactly one! Don't do that to your players!

To be fair, the "killr waz u" thing is also a broken record. At this point, even people at a party getting food poisoning from a negligently-delivered pizza sounds like good story fuel.

NaturalFlirtGamer Thinking about it, why don't we treat the MCs house as a separate space. If he's stuck in a time loop, it can easily happen. He kills his family, they decay, he commits suicide and it resets. In real life, he may already be dead and this is just his form of hell.
I'm just making assumptions here but the loop has probably happened more then 2-3 times. He just follows the loop until in one loop, he finally does something different. He finds the scissors and cuts his hair. This probably allowed him to escape from whatever force was keeping him there. He was reborn and this is the true ending. Let's be real, if the developer made us do more then a few loops, we'd have a similar situation to the "Endless Eight" episodes from Haruhi. It's not fun and it just pisses people off.
As for why no one interferes, think about it. His neighbors knew his family was abusing him psychologically by making him be a girl. He had no friends and everyone was disgusted with him. If they don't care about him, what reason do they have to follow up on him and look into his life. Even if he was alone until the bodies decayed before entering the loop, no one would care enough to see the situation. I mean, using myself as an example, I can disappear for a month and the friends who I'm close with wouldn't say anything. It's really easy to not be concerned with other people, even if you know them. This is twice as true, if you find them disgusting.
