    If she just asked the Witch if she could eat from the garden none of this would have happen.

      What if there was a version where the mom actually wanted to get rid of her child? I feel like that'd make an interesting Studio C skit.

      That's assuming the witch would have cared about the stranger and her unborn child. The Witch could have very easily just answered 'No, go away'.

      @Torrential Zephyr.
      in one of the oldest versions of Rapunzel, she was sold to the witch by her parents for some rare food/plant the mother wanted to eat.

    The red markings on the Mother's dress, especially the one leading down to her womb, only makes things even more symbolically disturbing. Still, the artwork in this game is pretty nice.

    What I kinds got was a lot through the ending puzzle? The man is the Brave, courting the middle woman. The puzzle piece by the tree is obviously the witch, Hidden. Considering how closely the middle woman looked like Lavender, I actually think this is the witch's daughter possibly. The potraits, though seemingly meant to be read bavkwards, are actually read in the order progressed. They tell of the witch's daughter, who was much loved by her mother and probably in the tower as their home. She married the man, who somehow left the picture, leaving the daughter pregnant. Judging by the progression thereafter and the bald woman picture in the secret ending, the daughter probably died, probably with the child dying during birth as well. The witch, in her grief, turned to the embryo spell to try and make a clone of her daughter with her hair(hence the baldness in the picture, which was probably painted after death as was a common practice), failing multiple times but unable to physically kill the abominations herself because they were too similar, rather leaving them to die of starvation or the such. Lavender was probably NOT the first successful clone, and not the only clone to figure out what was going on either. The barely alive duplicate we see at the end is also probably the one Lavender accidentally made through the ingredients puzzle, judging by the cauldron and table.

      Wow- uh- that's... Actually what I thought. It makes perfect sense though. Although, I have another theory. The "mother" after her child was taken, may have resorted to witchcraft herself to clone her daughter who was taken by the witch and possibly died? But the clones never actually made it through the tests the mother set up. Both theories may make some sense, but I'm kinda going out on a limb here to create another option in case this one isn't the story. I do think you did good though. It makes a lot of sense!

      Actually I think it's a love triangle too, Brave is the man we see in the extra room- Florian- along with "Lily" who is hinted to be Lavender's real mom, seeing as they looked the same and Lily looks exactly like the woman in the last puzzle. At first I assumed Lily was the woman Florian fell for, despite being with the Witch, Rosalie, but after going in the extra room then going back to the pink room and reading the book, it seems like it actually was a love triangle of the Witch loving Lily, but Lily chose Florian who stepped up and confessed first instead and gave birth to Lavender, they both died, and she took the hair from Lily to make a clone and we continue this story and the continued pattern of the clone dying because she found out the truth

    This game got updated with an extra room after my recording of it so I can confirm a few things *READ ONLY AFTER YOU WATCHED THE VIDEO*
    *Spoilers*
    *
    *
    *
    *
    The mother figure is The Witch as her mother and witch are listed as separate characters. The story told in the paintings is basically the standard Rapunzel story setup so I believe it's just a darker ending version of Rapunzel where "Lavender" discovers you're a replacement for the Witch's assumingly dead daughter that she has tried to clone or capture other women to replace for whatever reason. Maybe.
    *End*

      I didn't think it was the mom creating replicas because she wouldn't know magic/genetic science so this older woman is definitely the witch. My guess was she's creating replicas to either soul transfer into or absorb their energy for longer life. The bald head picture is the witch before she used magic to make herself younger. Basically it's a similar plot with the Witches house only instead of live humans she's using copies.

      Well, all I'll add is that in the classic Rapunzel story, unlike most the witch has a name (Mother Gothel). So even in the original story, Rapunzel referred to the witch as her mother.

  • @TheMerryMagpie

    I think the story it's trying to tell is that this "mother" is the witch from the story and the girl the baby. Simple so far.
    But the way that the "mother" talks about the witch from the story seems to reflect a certain amount of guilt/self loathing, just not enough to stop her from continuing and trying to get what she wants. Namely the return of her original daughter. (I think.)
    The garden and cottage are a honey trap and genuine resource (potentially her original residence). It's meant to lure hungry travelers and keep her and her daughter/experiments feed. Magic keeps it fresh and tempting along with her continued maintenance. A traveler will eventually steal from her and she will demand a child, one way or another she gets it, then she takes the kid to the tower, may or may not alter kid with magic/daughter's DNA, if the kid finds out or is a failure they get used for ingredients or to further keep the witch young. Rinse and repeat. (This could get messy if she already has a kid in the tower and the new one is also a success. Is there a back up plan?)
    The witch is getting closer with each iteration/kid. There's not enough detail to now how close lavender is, if the witch has made a reputation for herself, or where the witch got her magic in the first place. My guess is that lavender has been the closest she's ever gotten. Especially if the difference in size and shape of the others in the cages are anything to go by.
    I did have a theory about the witch being the original child who was raised/trained by the other witch in the story or that she was the original mother who's kid was taken, but both times I struggled to come up with either a motive for murder or reason for knowledge of magic. *shrug*
    Well that was fun. No idea if I'm right but fun none the less. I especially liked when you got confused at the happy ending, I was right there with you, even had to check the time stamp to see if that was it. XD
    Thanks for the video!

    i love these most generic rpg maker musics they use, they are so pretty (not kevin macleod's, but i like these too)
    and the art, it iskinda simple but still so cute, that is one the reason i love RPGmaker games so much (even more if horror) it can get so pretty and cute even if it is simple

    _The woman was the witch_
    It was such a great idea & cute puzzles, tho simple. I really wish there was better explanation of the plot.
    Little Rapunzel was taken from her mother. I think the witch was trying to make other girls - maybe so Rapunzel wouldn't be lonely. Or something. The pink hairs are probably hair she collected from Rapunzel to make homunculi. Maybe. Anyway, was cute.

    I think that the Lavender in this game is actually just another clone. The mother is the mother in the story, and she can't bring herself to give the clones to the witch, because they look to much like the real lavender, and it maybe bothers her. As for why the lavender in the game gets special treatment..... I dunno. I'm just making a shot-in-the-dark theory.

    The witch fell in love with the woman. But then the woman married the man. The witch did nothing to stop this and let her be wedded to the man. After that she waited for the right chance. She killed the man and then took the mother to her tower and kept her in. She waited until she gave birth to Lavender but at the end she couldn't let her love die. So she tried to keep her alive in the basement. That's why at the end you hear a heavy breathing and there's a beating heart on the body laid on the table.
    If anyone had a better idea of how this might be, feel free to comment below.

    • @alchemysaga3745
      @alchemysaga3745 8 ปีที่แล้ว +48

      I mostly came up with the same idea, but I think the woman/Lavender's mother did die. She notes that the clones/more babies aren't "viable"- but that just means they won't STAY alive in the outside world. I think she's either trying to clone her lost love, or make a child that is equally her's and the other woman's child. The "living" child on the table is the latest attempt, that the witch is letting die the slow way because she can't bring herself to mercy kill them. (Note- the heart is outside the chest- which, in a medieval-ish setting, would be lethal.)

    Based on the paintings, I think that the Witch used to be in love with the father of Lavender. The three figures at the bottom of the tower are the witch, Lavender's mother, and Lavender's father. The hidden heart is that of the witch, and the brave heart/unaware heart could belong to either the father or mother, unaware of the witch's feelings. Lavender's mom became pregnant, and she wed the father. The witch grew a garden and poured all her love into it. When Lavender's mother ate some of the fruits from her garden, the witch took her revenge by forcing the mother to give her the child, who was the offspring of her crush, and something else she could love. The witch then brought Lavender to the tower, where she would be hidden from others. Lavender grew up with the witch as her mother, until this moment in time. As for the experiments, perhaps the witch was trying to make the child look more like her? I have no idea what she was trying to do there...
    I'm sure there's a lot more that can be read into, such as the 3 flowers that grow (I'm pretty sure it's a calla lily, daffodils/lilies, and an iris) but i'm not going to go into it :P

    Neutral:
    *The music is from another games i think
    *Easy puzzles

    Maybe too short
    Only 2 endings, hard to get the secret ending at the first time playing.

    I think the twist is something like in Alien Ressurection where they made failed attempts of cloning Ripley.
    Your theory of the mother of Lavender actually being Rapunzel herself is an interesting one, I've also seen variations where Rapunzel ends up making the same mistakes as her mother by angering a witch. There are really so many possibilities to what's going on here, and there not that many clues to help.

    Hmm, well as you noted if this is the first game this person has made I think one criticism would be to make sure the plot is a bit... well less vague. Basically vagueness works well for games where the primarily focus is on something that isn't the story, like with FNAF its mostly about surviving the nights and for Yume Nikki its mostly about exploration. This game can't really get away as much with having a plot that doesn't explain itself because its focused on its narrative more than anything else.
    Just my criticism :U

    Ok. Here's my take on the story.
    The witch loved a woman, but a man got to her first. The woman married the man and got pregnant, but sadly she was dying and her husband took off.
    So she asked her old friend the witch to cure her illness or care for the baby, and the witch agrees.
    However the woman dies anyway.
    But the witch was unable to live without the woman and she attempted to clone her. The clones were all duds but they reminded her of her daughter so she couldn't really dispose of them properly.
    The puzzles are themed on the witch's point of view.
    They are the 3 flowers. The man was quickly satisfied and took off. The witch was forever patient for her love. The woman was glorious but fragile.
    In chess, the husband is the king, the woman is the pawn, and the witch is the rook. I guess the sickness is the queen separating the king and pawn. The king does not move to save the pawn from danger, thus the pawn is forced to move toward the rook. It's the only move white can make.
    The witch watched from afar because there was nothing she could do, but she found a way to tip the scales.
    The witch is the greedy hand reaching for her ideal life with the woman. The witch is exploiting the situation to get what she wants. The witch actually feels guilty about this.
    I noticed with the ring puzzle that not one single ring is still intact, which says to me that the man and woman's bond in marriage was easily broken.
    I think the next puzzle indicates that the woman died before giving birth as insects were crawling over her and the baby had to be cut out. But the birth opened the witch's eyes to a possibility. (cloning)
    The final puzzle reinforces the first puzzle with a picture of 3 flowers once again. Following the placement of the figures. The man is right flower (quickly satisfied), the woman is the middle (tall and brittle), and the witch is the left (patient). Also it indicates the witch was afraid to come forward with her true feelings, while the man was like "yo gurrrrl."
    Part of me wants to say there was a war that killed the husband, but I don't feel it fits as well.

    Okay after reading Manlys little blurb, I think it would have been a good story. Just didn't translate as well as it could. Or maybe we need to see that other room to find out. I love the art style, and I think it's a clever story.

    Well this is good but yet...bad. I say that because the first ending seemed rather lackluster and rather boring even the second "secret ending". I mean, unless you find the first pink hair, you wouldn't even know to look for it. Even if you did, you still don't have a reason to look for more--such as you (and me). I do applaud the simplicity of the puzzles despite the complex--which I'm assuming was intended to make players over think things--descriptions.

      @kaigeplays6905 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FallenAngelHiroko I think the secret ending should have been the only ending. I didn't find this to be a Horror RPG until that ending. Added a level of creepiness that wasn't there in the game. It's cute and has a nice art style. But the story wasn't relayed well ether

    I feel like this isn't the MOST confusing ending in a game played by Manly...but still, yeah, there's multiple possible answers to what is going on. I think it would work as it is if the creator/s just explained the exact details of the ending. Need more information.

    Witch's Tower.

  • @tori_aviator
    @tori_aviator 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    There are no hints in history that the witch had a daughter. and lavender is probably just one of the clones. and the real child most likely stayed with his parents. (it turns out there was a picture with a bald woman and a child in her arms) probably the theory will seem strange, but I believed because of all the details: that the witch loved Lily, and took her hair to make a clone or their "common child" when she ate food from the garden, and refused to give the child away.

    Now you mention it, the hairs might have been used to extract DNA. Perhaps the mum pictures herself as bald because she took out (some of?) her hair?
    I thought the things in cages were dead birds. The first thing out of my dumb mouth was "Is she trying to replace her lost pet bird?" (My mother had a pigeon she doted on, so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility.)
    There's nothing to indicate Lavender isn't the 'original', I guess. There's no mention of siblings anywhere, so the mum isn't 'innocently' trying to make a little sister for Lavender... And there's no sign of the other two adults from the story. I would have wondered about trying to resurrect the husband, but it seems we're supposed to interpret the clones as girls. From the painting of the two women, it seems like the mum was the one being begged, not doing the begging? Just going from hair colours. But hair colours change throughout the game - I couldn't work out the reason for the changing colours of the save files. Yeah, I'm stumped! But I'm certainly staying out of any basements in woodland princess towers for a while.
    Edit: Ah, just seen the comment from Manly after seeing the newly released content. That makes kind of sense.

      I did this both at the start and end of the game and got nothing so if it's a bad end it was added later or requires specific timing.

    • @ROAD-HORROR
      @ROAD-HORROR 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ManlyBadassHero Yeah, it's just a simple bad end... Pretty sure all you had to do was inspect the window two or three times? Pretty sure only two. I initiated it with a later save at random, so I don't think it had any specific timing to it.
      It SHOULD be in the most recent version of the game and the last version prior... Not positive if it was in any of the ones before those two.
      I don't even recall if there there a unique CG for it, it was just a fun little added end. Nothing important to the story at all.
