I was in the Blue Top, Lonnie led me to speaking in tongues on his back perch. Had prayer meetings in Lonnies & Connies living room. Lonnie was very instrumental in my spiritual life. Chuck you used to pick me up when I was hitch hiking. Moved to Kansas taking Chuck's teaching tapes with me, my church let me set up a library. Got drafted, I passed out tracts and witnessed for Jesus until they kicked me out with an honorable discharge. Anyone remember Roman who was an elder at the CC in the early days? The person whol led me to the Lord was Greg Means..

We see a pattern. If you serv the Lord with all your heart - they will kick you out. Christ is the new wine and you become a new wineskin. You become a new creation. Pastors like David Wilkerson have problems with you. They do not rejoice when someone has come to Christ. But we sing How great thou art! Praise the Lord my soul.

My older brother in Jesus, more a brother to me than my birth brothers, is Walter, lives in WA State, but he is from S.Clemente and helped Pastor Chuck build CCM and helped start MARANATHA MUSIC, and Walter told me about this video - I got saved at 16 in 1973, Pastor Chuck baptized me in Pirate's Cove that summer. I had to sneak to CCM so my sad abusive catholic non-Jesus family wouldn't find out; when they did, I had to move out. I almost moved into THE LORD'S HOUSE, the Calvary safe house on PCH at 6th. This - and Walter's stories - are a huge blessing to listen to. Love Song and other Christian groups from our Jesus Movement time were phenomenal and helped cement our love for Jesus and each other. Thank you, Chuck, for uploading this!

I had to cry when the Filipinos gave them nothing. Also shame on the full gospel businessmen. Since this was my era & I wasn’t a hippie, I have always loved this group. I play it everyday for the last year because it lets me worship & fills my heart with joy from the losses I’v experienced recently. I'm a little surprised to hear Tommy Coomes say "maybe not so much on the East Coast" (referring to the Jesus movement).
The Spirit moved HUGELY along the east coast and just as spontaneously-appearing as He was moving everywhere else. People in towns next to each other sometimes had no idea that what was happening to them was also happening to their neighbors. My husband preached, as a teenager, at a little Christian coffeehouse where hundreds of kids and adults came to Jesus.

But yet in retrospect I can remember sensing even as an infant Christian an energy among the youth to be the best THEM for God that they could be in using their talents for Him. 1Timothy 4:1-5 The Spirit clearly says that in latter times some shall fall away following after deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons by means of the marching of hypocritical liars. Those whose conscience has been branded. These are those who forbid marriage and the receiving of certain foods that God has intended for those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving. For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

That move they speak of was real (nothing even 1% of that since), God knows what He's doing.....do a deep dive on Chuck Smith....was on the radio everywhere in late 70's early 80's....I was around fierce seekers of God (they had the fruit of the Spirit).......Chuck is being honest there (he disliked hippies)........he took the best from Lonnie Frisbee and kicked him to the curb.......I learned that the infiltration of a pure thing was people like Chuck Smith!

Additionally....I have a friend who ministered with Lonnie Frisbee for years (he was very young at the time, name was Danny C).....Lonnie may have had sexual problems but Danny saw none, he saw other things he did not like.....but "0" homosexuality (although his gay thing did happen)......Lonnie had a mandate from God to "not build up the local street corner church", but to promote house and group meetings....Lonnie messed up associating with Chuck Smith!

Lonnie said he was in the gay surfing scene at age 15, then again in Haight Asbury he said he would screw anything. You cannot be a gospel leader with sexual sin. Smith and others did the BIBLICAL thing by having him leave. Lonnie died of hiv aids and almost no hetero men get that. I did not know him....I am much younger than this group but Lonnie is recorded numerous places. I hope Lonnie was right with God when he passed, as I wish for everyone.

      Project Design,
I understand exactly what you're saying, but if you take a look at what happened to Chuck in his childhood through to the time he left home, his parents took him to a church where they not only overemphasized the Holy Spirit...he saw a lot of 'manufactured' activity and was just very turned off.
When Lonnie first started ministering, he knew the Lord, but didn't know very much about the Word of God yet. This bothered Chuck and he saw that the people needed both; the Word and the Holy Spirit!
Now here is where I agree with you, but because hindsight is so perfect it makes it impossible to judge. It's soooooo unfortunate that Chuck did NOT have the sight to see how to help Lonnie in his struggles. Yet, God is Faithful and who can claim that they've brought tens of thousands of people to Jesus Christ? Lonnie Frisbee has been a magnificent blessing to our world, may I be more like him.
      Love in Christ,
      Cindy

Speaking only for myself, I appreciate the diversity of music. I love progressive and classical music for the complexity. I love some of the great hymns of the faith for the depth of the lyrics. And I love a lot of those “good lines, repeated over and over, oohs and aahs” for their simplicity. Maybe I’m just stupid, but I find some things need to be repeated and repeated and repeated before they get through my thick skull.

From 1970-1974/76 when they were active, they ministered free of charge with their wives and children and were supported with room and board by two retired school teachers.
