Thank you John Ruttkay for making this video about your dearest friend Lonnie. Your video popped up yesterday just hours after I returned home from watching the Jesus Revolution movie. I am 71 now and lived in Los Angeles County during the time of the Movement so I am very familiar with it but didn’t get Saved until 1989. I walked away from that move yesterday feeling like there was so much history about the movement that was missing, especially about Lonnie after he left for Florida. I was hoping the movie would have had a dynamic impact on people like The Passion of the Christ did; a real gut puncher, an enlightenment, magnificent wonder and hope. In a lot of ways it certainly did but there was so much that was left out, and it ended up being an evangelistic love story about Greg and Cathy. It was sweet but not powerful enough to draw the unsaved to the movie house. I have a deep respect for all the Pastors you mentioned but the main character, Lonnie, was left out at the end of the movie. I feel that they should have gone full circle with Lonnie’s life story. Greg is truly anointed and has gone on to do amazing things with the Harvest Festivals at the Stadium, radio programs, etc., but Greg was a part of the Revolution. Lonnie and Chuck were the Jesus Movement! In my opinion the ending could have been done more powerfully with a heart-wrenching effect. I was waiting for so much more. Thank you John Ruttkay for making this U-tube video. ✝️🕊 (I was a psychiatric nurse for 35 yrs. I completely understand what mental health issues Lonnie suffered through) Issues or not, God used him mightly. ♥️
I love this comment and say a hearty AMEN! I'm nearing 69 (my husband of 49 years is 71) and I received the baptism with The Holy Spirit in 1979. God spared my husband & me from all the effects of the drug culture at that time, but many of our friends were deeply affected and some died. I believe Lonnie's story needs to be told. I will share this and more testimony from Lonnie. I listened to the entire 1980 Mother's Day service and bore witness with Lonnie's spirit throughout. Thank you for sharing the history of the "movements" that followed Calvary Chapel as I was touched by each one. New Wine magazine and the 5 teachers ministered to me, along with the anointed music from Vineyard, but Larry Tomczak was a "pastor" to my heart back in 1979 as I listened to many of his teachings on cassettes. We encountered Andrew Wommack in 2016 and completed 2 years at Charis Bible College, where we remain connected & active with people from around the world here in CO. God has been so FAITHFUL to bring us to this next great awakening and we, as older people are being equipped to minister to the young people as they receive the Fire of God & His Life-giving Word, and move with The Holy Spirit in Wisdom & Truth. May we live out our remaining days as the "burning ones" who have been captured by God's jealous firey LOVE and move with HIM with Passion & Compassion for the "whosoever" He brings our way.
I saw it too and agree that it was a sweet relationship story and it was Gregs testimony but...... untapped potential wasn't used. It could have been more. -There was some interview where a producer (Greg?) said Christians wouldn't be ready to hear Lonnies story.
I was saved as an 11 year old in '74. In the Midwest, I believe the Jesus movement was still taking hold and my testimony will always be that I was saved as a result of the Holy Spirit moving during that period. I agree whole-heartedly that the movie was the testimony witness from Greg Laurie. Which is what I was unaware of. I expected the history and glory of God moving during the "revolution" and I hoped for a spark to start the next revolution. Praying that Ashbury is that spark.
I really enjoy this video, as a young person (19 years old) who was graciously saved out of the new age/ witchcraft I really see parallels between the Jesus Movement in the 70s and now! There are so many people my age who are hungry for God, and they all are searching for it in the wrong places, as I once did. We need a movement of God, we need people to be saved out of sorcery, fornication, and all the other sins that keep us away from the one true God! I'm praying earnestly that the Lord Jesus will help my generation and bring a move of the Spirit among us.
Wow you should have been born 50 years ago. Yes precious one there is another one coming and it’s wrapped around Psalm 24 you see it soon it’s just the beginning.
Hey sister. That is great to hear! I got to saved out of drugs and other pretty bad way of life. The next day, all I could do is share my story with my friends at work, and many of them became believers, even the Satanist. Just don’t let the church wear you down. Christians and Christian leaders are people too, and they can put a lot of force burdens on you. Always remember where you came from, don’t try to be a big shot. Absorb the word of God, and tell people about Jesus every day, and do not be ashamed. Never be on the defense, always the offense, just not offensive. God bless you richly!
@@SM-wv7iu Thank you! Sister actually, I'm a woman lol :). Thanks for the advice! I got saved coming up 4 years now in July. And when I was new in my walk, I shared Jesus with everyone, but now I have lost that zeal a little bit due to bad experiences, but I still need to keep up the good work in Christ, and I need to work on not being ashamed. Thanks again, God bless you!
Thanks John,,, Excellent word, I as a Jewish boy who received Yehushua (Jesus) in California in 1967 during Israel' Six Day War. We minister on the streets, presently in Wales UK, where ever He takes us and have seen many sexually molested dear ones healed and delivered, as well as blind eyes opened and broken bodies healed and excepting Yehushua as their Lord and Messiah, Savior. Your words were so gracious and helped fill in the gaps of the different movements. So grateful to hear your testimony and would love to Midrash (Fellowship) with you, Shalom and Blessings dear Brother.
Blessings to you as well and thank you for your stand with God and for your work in Wales and everywhere you are. The Jesus movement is not just ancient history . It continues and is eternal lasting through the 2nd coming and forever. Your hands and feet are the Lords hands and feet and you are an ambassador for Christ! Blessings from Silicon Valley California USA
Thank you for what you do. I live in wirral, not far from Wales. It's great to know people are still going out and ministering to others in public places ❤️
Lonnie’s own words, not his story told for an agenda. God is using this, I can feel it! May Samson slay more in his death than even in his life, and in Lonnie’s case that was so many! Thank you for telling his story and for sharing his own words.
Wow, you were a true friend to Lonnie! That is what God commands us to do is to love one another! I too was a victim of child abuse, molestation by family members, and broken heart and then tried homosexuality because of the pain! But God set me free when I was 18 and began to preach to anyone who would listen! I blessed now, married, 3 grown children and still preaching like Lonnie to anyone that will listen! God bless you brother for sharing the real story of Lonnie and we will all meet in Gods kingdom one sweet day! John 3:16🙏🔥🙏
Go head and set these self- righteous hypocrites in order. Right now, Lonnie spirit is with Jesus, and have a new body. Some of us NEED a new mouth, because we shol like to condemn the dead. Many was led to Jesus by Lonnie, and he's still leading people in death. Let me set us free in here. No we don't keep living in sin, but when we do, we go immediately to the Father, repent and change, but if the sin overtake us, that's the body of Christ " supposed" to come in and try to help them back. He said he was married to the backslider. Lonnie knew who his source was, that's why he returned, and was restored, ALL that was important was that he made it, STOP tearing him down, and STOP denying his anointing, there wouldn't be a Jesus movement without him. My life is very similar to Lonnie's. I was violated as a 6 year old girl in School by a female Teacher. I received Jesus in Highschool as a Senior, but the devil waited and was Cunning, I knew also what was right from wrong. Got caught up in sin right there in the church with a woman, lived the lesbian lifestyle for 8 years, until one day Jesus said to me, if you die tonight, your going to hell. I begged him night and day to set me free, HE DID! It was if I was never in that lifestyle. I have never looked back, I have not even a little desire. Now, I'm happy with a wonderful man, and want to give him a son. I'm saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost, and is a Prophet, a REAL one. So that's why I pull so hard for Lonnie, nobody know until you have walked into someone's else's shoe, there's power, love, forgiveness and true Deliverance in mighty name of Jesus Christ. It's available, if you have fell away, get back up and come home. I have heard of many people, getting saved before they left here, because Jesus loved them so much, he made sure they got in, look at the thief on the cross, did bad all his life, but that ONE chance encounter, even in death Jesus was saving. STOP bringing dishonor to beloved Lonnie.
John if you ever see this I'm one of the young men who lived with you guys at the house in Poway in early 1990. Yeah, that was a motely bunch! So ironic I found this video 38 years to the day after I was filled with the Holy Spirit under Lonnie's ministry when he was a traveling preacher in 1985, working with Jon Johanson and Dave Lee in Seattle. Apart from the stint in Poway and a stint in Pullman I've been serving in my local church ever since. Completely changed the course of my life for the better.
Thank you John. This video needed to be made. A lot of people will watch the Jesus Revolution movie, then research Lonnie’s story online which will expose them to judgmental criticism of his life and ministry. To our Shame, The Christian Army is the only Army that shoots it wounded. I was stationed in Germany in the 70’s and the power of God was sweeping through the Servicemen Centers much like it did during the Jesus Revolution movement. The minister who led me to the Lord was a druggy surfer dud who got saved on the beaches of CA in the late 60’s. Love poured out of Mike like rivers of living water. I’ve never known anyone like him. I pray our country and the world will experience God in this way again.
I left the film somewhat disappointed so this has been so helpful as is the vid with Lonnie’s brother. There were moments in the film we need to remember but the biggest take away is God is word and Spirit and another revolution is on its way. Even now it has begun
But to hear Lonnie live doing the Mother's Day thing at Calvary Chapel Yorba Linda that is on You Tube. That's Lonnie and what he looked like and how he preached. I just found that an hour ago on here. Powerful. John brought him to San Diego Vineyard once. I wish I'd paid more attention but I'm 70.
Thank you John. After seeing the Jesus Rev movie 2xs and having learned later in my life of Holy Spirit power and gifts, I was a little unsettled that Holy Spirit gifts and Power appeared mostly to be treated as the 'dramatic' instead of the miraculous blessing during that unprecedented time. I remember the Time magazine cover.
Thank You for sharing Lonnie's journey..... difficult times and being close to Jesus..... I loved the Lord as a young person...... and being raised in a violent alcoholic home for 18 years...... my heart began to harden in my 20's and turned away from the Lord...... like Lonnie my journey has had consequences.... but Jesus never let go of me.... and now I love the Lord so much .... and repent when I stumble❤️ May God Bless you and forever Lonnie
I came from another country in 1972 when I was 18 and got saved. I left the ‘Shepherding Movement’ in 1978. I was glued to this whole video to the end, being very grateful for it. There’s a lot I can say…but for now… “Thanks, John - you did a great job in this video”.
BLOWN AWAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this. After seeing the movie I just HAD to know more about Lonnie. When people quickly told me how he fell away, and died of AIDS, I was so disappointed. Now I get it. The rest of his story needed to be told. Thank you for speaking John. (I was in tears by the end). Before I heard this, I had a realization that Lonnie's testimony was meant for these times NOW. Praise God. ❤🙌 Let it be heard. JR 3.0 😉
That was wonderful to hear, because I had questions that weren't being answered. Thank you! We are all "Ragamuffins", just like the movie portraying Rich Mullins life, where he struggled with alcoholism, but God used him to write one of the greatest Christian songs, "Our God is an Awesome God". God uses the broken, the unpolished, the prodigals of life, sometimes to show that we are all flawed in some way and we need Him to overcome the flesh and the things of this world. The testimonies of the broken that have received His healings show hope for all the lost.
Thank you so much for doing this! I felt a shifting even taking place within me as I was listening. I came to Christ in 1976 and have been in the charismatic movement ever since. Your words resonated deep within me. At first, I thought, I don’t have time to listen to an hour, I’ll just hear the first few minutes. But your demeanor, your sincerity, the Spirit of Christ in you, drew me in like a magnet, as if I’ve known you my entire life, lol, what an awesome gift we have to walk in the Holy Spirit!
John, thank you for this. Lately, I have felt drawn to learning more about Lonnie and to listening to his preaching. I've been grieved when reading about his struggles. Some seem to dismiss him as having backslidden, some mention his childhood wounds, but no one that I have read has shared about Lonnie with the degree of love and understanding you have. This video puts so much into perspective and is redemptive. I also appreciate your heart as you speak about movements that went off kilter. Having gone through such a derailing of a move of God, I know that the enemy can tempt us to bitterness, but you express love and wisdom in speaking about these things and the people involved. Thank you for a video filled with love and grace.
I hope that everyone who sees the movie sees your video too because it's like a Part 2. You answered my questions and completed the movie experience for me about Lonnie's life and much more. Thank you for your obedience to God to do this for so many who need to know how his life ended and what he said. It's so important.
I'm so thankful for Lonnie's story and I can relate on how he felt. In 1966, at the age of two, my dad started molesting me and no one did anything about it. I overdosed and died at the age of two. Jesus' sat me on His lap and told me that I had to much work to do and that I was protected through my life by Him and guardian angels. I am going to be 59 this year and I have gone through a lot of things. But Jesus' has always been there for me. I now have a lot of medical issues but I'm not giving up on Jesus' for anything.
I'm so thankful for getting to know about Lonnie's story and the Lord's anointing over him. He didn't give in to such sad people. Thank you John for being such a great friend and a blessing to his testimony.
God bless your heart Joyce I'm thankful and inspired by your story. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways and knowledge Him and He will direct your path. AGAPE dear one!
Thank you so very much for your compassionate look into the real Lonnie Frisbee…Loved also the history of the movements of the Holy Spirit . I was the editor of “Spread the Fire,” the magazine published by Toronto for ten years. I love hearing everything I can about genuine revival and also about what quenches it at the end of each movement. Thank you for your honesty. This must have been hard for you, but it took spiritual guts to tell the truth. So many leaders have struggled and fallen. It is wonderful that Lonnie came back!
Hi Melinda...(fellow Canadian), I was at the last outpouring in the Northwest (big one)..was saved 3 days prior to Jesus Northwest 1978.....wow, the Holy Spirit swept a gathering of 35 thousand people....weeping, repenting galore....shocking really....the thing that I saw, even though I was diffused with His Holy Spirit for 3 years after that was "tradition", like John said "money changers".....many many gifted were seduced with their anointing and went after position money and fame...this killed it!
John, T Y so much for sharing Lonnie's life . I'm 78 yrs of age and was saved and recieved the Holy Spirit in 1979 at a Full Gospel (Women's Aglow) lunch at a local resturant in their banquet hall in No Ky. I'm so thankful for the Jesus movement and all who answered His call and spread The Good News of Jesus. And thanks to all who have shared here. I'm sooo looking forward to seeing this movie and Pray God will provide more for the World to know Jesus our Savior.
John, I saw the movie Tuesday and thought there had to be more to Lonnie’s story. I’m so glad you shared this. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to him. Blessings.
I saw the move yesterday and needed to know more about Lonnie. I'm so thankful you made this video and I got to hear it. Thank you for being a faithful friend to Lonnie and a spiritual friend to us brothers and sisters who are looking for understanding. God amazes me how He works in the depths of our sin to heal us and provides revelation through the hardest of times. It's beautiful. Most people think it's sad, but it's beautiful to see God's great mercy, grace and never ending love to rescue His beloved. May God continue to use this for His Glory!!
The Lord is mysterious in his ways; here Lonnie is healing others through the power of the Holy Spirit, yet can't get healed himself that way. His ultimate healing actually seemed to come through his suffering, and even after that, God will work that to help others at such a time as now.
I was a child of the 60s and came from a drug induced background, I remember hearing the name of John Wimber and the Vineyard movement. Thank you for sharing how it started. I came to faith on a beach when I came to the end of myself and taking a kicking from the enemy of our soul. You had me clapping and laughing and a tear or two. I am looking forward to meeting Lonnie in the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus, and yourself John, I will be getting the book. 👏👏👏
My husband was at Canyon High School when Lonnie was there and witnessed the Holly Spirit shooting through the gymnasium. He says it was awesome and a time he truly felt God’s presence. Thank you for sharing about Lonnie!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thank you so much for sharing this personal look into Lonnie's life. I felt that the way you shared was extraordinarily redemptive and it was certainly encouraging to see how God helped Lonnie through many difficult chapters of his life particularly at the very end. I was particularly struck by the part that you read where Lonnie shared from his heart even on his deathbed. All of us are flawed and fall short in many ways. As the Spirit says in 2 Corinthians chapter 4 we are truly earthen vessels with the great treasure of Christ within to demonstrate that the exceeding glory is not of ourselves but in Christ Himself...
I am sooo glad that this kept popping up & I finally clicked on it. Wow, what you read from the end of that book was sooo prophetic -- that was 30 years ago & 20 years since same sex "marriage"& now trying to normalize pedophilia, transgenders & mutilating one's body ... Wow, oh wow how God moves, oftentimes slower than we want. Look how all of this is now dovetailing w the Asbury Awakening and what's happening in our dark culture; and how the Lord is giving honor to Lonnie for not only what he suffered as a child & struggled with healing, but also for all Lonnie did to serve God & with such openness & purity to/for Him. And credit to you John, for being such a TRUE friend & very sincere, loving, dignified & honoring to your friend. Thank you also for the background history on the various movements. My dad was "born again" right around 1980-ish. He passed away two years ago@ almost 90. He had a ton of books & newsletters from various ministries etc. Now I have many of them & it all makes more sense. I'd like to create a Christian library as that was a vision of his or donate them. But now I have to get these 3 books!
What a beautiful first person account of friendship, love and the struggles we have as individual believers as well as the Body of Christ. I'm so blessed to have such a deep friendship together. Hearing your stories and knowing how difficult it is to navigate these moves of God by personal experience, makes me appreciate you even more. Bless you dear friend for your faithfulness to Gods People.
Our brother Lonnie Frisbee deserved this kind and respectful summary of “the REST of the story.” I was saved after this move of God but oh my, we all heard of it and saw the fruit of what God did. Thank you sir for taking the time to share this important story. I believe Lonnie is enjoying Heaven as we speak.
What an awesome teacher to let a student who may struggle in one way be able to express what they learned in the classroom Using a different medium of expression
Wow.. wonder where it is now? I'd LOVE to see that painting. What a GREAT teacher, to have allowed him to use his gift of painting his 'essay'. Very cool share!
Thank you John! Of all the characters scripted in the Jesus Revolution movie, Lonnie is most fascinating for me personally. My dad, also named Lonnie, was a sort of rebel within our own small town country Baptist world in south Mississippi. Dad fought addiction, insecurities, and mental health illnesses throughout his brief years in Baptist ministry during the 60s and 70s. Your ‘interview’ of Lonnie might just be the catalyst that moves the nomads and bohemians like Lonnie, towards the Love of God. That’s certainly been the case with my dad’s life, as he is now in Heaven as well. Again - thank you! 🕊
Thank you for this very personal look at Lonnie's life. You filled in so many gaps and honored every individual involved. The cycle of rejection by fathers and mothers must stop - especially in the Church. We're going to keep journeying around this mountain until we get it right. I pray today's leaders can model both grace and truth to see the young revolutionaries in our generation mature and fulfill all they are destined for. Blessings to you!
Thank you Wanda. I'm so blessed that God is continuing to use our brothrer. His story will/is to be used for this generation who suffers as he did. I have so much respect for him. God is so gracious to use him for such a time as this.
Wanda!!!!! Yay! I’m one of your listeners and bought your book 📕 Words to pray by. Awesome to see your comment right after mine! ❤️ much love to you and the Lord’s blessing for you and Bobby!
John, Thank you for sharing, this is the most honest well balanced telling of Lonnie’s story that I’ve ever heard. I Like Lonnie am a Christian who struggles homosexuality, not a homosexual that struggles with Christianity, those two mind sets are very different journeys. I grew up gay and in the closet in a large Calvary Chapel, in fact I still attend that church after 38 years now. I relate to so much of what you describe in Lonnie’s’ life. Feelings of rejection, Isolation and loneliness having to process the sexual abuse and the fear of what others might think. I know from personal experience what mental torture Lonnie must have been dealing with. In some ways performing and pretending to be someone that he wasn’t, a sexually broken servant of God. In those days the church like most of society fostered a “Don’t ask, don’t tell’ attitude towards sexual issues. Unlike today, where we have ministries like Celebrate Recovery in the church. Unfortunately for the last 40 years the church has been busy protecting its children from the issue of homosexuality; instead of preparing them. The problem with that is that the world is now coming after our children, and they are just not prepared to deal with the topic from God’s hart and a biblical world view. I believe that we need a new apologetic in the church, one that includes sexual orientation and God’s heart for those confused. Homosexually has been one of the defining moral issue of our time and all the church has done is put it’s head in the sand. I’ve met many of the original Calvary pastors like Mike Macintosh, Greg Lourie, Don McClure , Jeff Johnson, John Courson and many others. For years I held a grudge against them for perceived bigotry and the missed opportunity to reach what I believe are the equivalent of the hippies of the 60’s, the LGBTQ community. But I’ve come to realize that we are all human trying to serve God the best way we know how, so God help us all.
Blessings and peace brother thank you for your stand with God who knows your heart more than any human. Stay strong and walk tall as a Son of God who sent His Son for you as much as any other and all human beings. Agape!
Thank you for sharing your testimony. You make some excellent points. If we don't educate our children, the world will. May you be blessed and walk closer each day with the LORD Jesus.
Thank you so very much for recording this!! I believe Jesus’ healing power is still working thru Lonnies words ❤ I’m so glad he is no longer being hidden from history in these incredible movements too 🙏🙏🙏
John, I have wanted to know more about Lonnie after seeing Jesus Revelation movie. Also I saw an old documentary on Greg Laurie but he didn’t talk much about Lonnie. Which left me wanting to know more about Lonnie. You did a great job of explaining more about Lonnie’s life with much love. Thank you so much for sharing. I am so glad Lonnie is with our Lord and is truly free of sin and satan’s cruel temptations. My heart breaks for what happened to Lonnie as an 8 year old boy. Thank you and may God continue to bless you. ❤🙏
John, this is an epic interview and exposé on Lonnie's life, ministry, struggles, and victory through Jesus Christ our Lord! Thank you for sharing the good, great bad, and the ugly. Real life is messy. But God! Able to do more than we hope for or can imagine. This interview will be used of the Lord. Thanks again from Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦. I loved the hippy clothing and music jamming in the Jesus Revolution movie! I wanted to be there. I was born in '65. My mom became Spirit-filled in a Catholic charismatic Bible study when I was about 11yrs old.
“This is my friend Lonnie.” This is what I’ve been searching for on the Internet, when I heard the movie was coming out I started watching a ton of TH-cam videos, and I noticed there were a lot of people who had Deeper stories to tell, much of it about Lonnie… I did go see the movie, I pray lives are touched by it… But I was grieved that there was so much about Lonnie that wasn’t told… I think there needs to be a movie about Lonnies life…I am burdened with homosexuality in my family, I relate to so much of the chapter Lonnie wrote…thank you for sharing this… I also pray that the movie is a catalyst to sharing more of Lonnie’s story and that his ministry would continue through his life story and his own written words
Amen! GOD is still able to use Lonnie after his earthly death to lead others to Christ and to heal from child abuse of every kind as well as overcome bitterness and truly forgive like on the level of David's forgiveness of King Saul who betrayed him and sought to take his life because of jealousy. 🙏💙🙌
I came out of a pastor who was heavily influenced by the shepherding movement. Huge amounts of spiritual and mind control. This story about Lonnie is so encouraging. The enemy so tried to ruin Lonnie's life because He has a special anointing. But Man, God was faithful to him in the end. Lonnie was saved because he was born again, and everyone born again will overcome and get the victory (1 John 5:4).
@@toolegittoquit_001 God knows whether he was or not. But it matters how you finish, and if you watch the last 20 minutes you can see fruit of repentance.
He was a new creation and He showed that fruit by how he recreated with the authority Jesus has given all who belong to Him. The proof is in the pudding.
I am grateful to you for filling in the spaces missed by the recent movie. My wife and I saw the Jesus Revolution over this past weekend and it was very powerful. However, it appeared to suggest that the gifts of the Spirit were all about Lonnie’s ego. However, revisiting the birth of Love Song and so many of the dynamics of that era were so refreshing as I was saved in 1972 and remember virtually all the details the film brought out. After salvation, the coffeehouse I attended was loaded with Jesus people here in CT. We were outcasts from traditional churches, but on fire for God. In our particular case, we became aligned with the Florida Five. All the excesses you mentioned eventually destroyed the church in the mid-eighties. I came away from that experience feeling much the same way you expressed in this video. I wrote my first book: Spiritual Abuse: How to Break Free From Toxic Churches Without Losing Your Faith as part testimonial, part instruction in how to redeem a bad church experience. I have now been in pastoral ministry for over forty years and have no regrets. Your video was extremely valuable to me and I will recommend it to those wanting a fuller picture of the man. I also just ordered the first volume of the trilogy. Thanks!
I agree, this was so good to hear, as people who see the movie are really left wondering what happened to Lonnie. I have read his autobiography and am fascinated by what God did during those decades in CA. I was on the East Coast, but the movement swept the whole country. Many charismatic fellowships were popping up on college campuses, coffeehouses were gathering spaces for Christian musicians, Catholics and Protestants were coming together,... it was an exciting time. But there was a pattern of authoritarian abuse that crept in as a result of the shepherding movement, and I know many people who were hurt and left the faith during the 80's (or at least left the church). It's terrible to see how an over-emphasis can skew and distract from the good news of the gospel. I'm curious to know if you are aware of the beginnings of the Jesus Movement on the east coast. Did it have roots in the Calvary Chapel movement? I know the Christian bands from Calvary and Maranatha had a lot of influence as they toured the country, as did Keith Green. Would love to hear your thoughts on that. Will have to look up your book, as I have thought a lot about the abuses over the years, yet long for the Spirit and passion of those early days.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful, true story of your dear friend Lonnie. His words in his book still speak loudly today. Very prophetic. God's anointing was clearly upon this man. "Heartaches and broken pieces, ruined lives is why HE died on Calvary. His ❤️ love is what I longed for. He has given life to me🎵🎵 God Bless you! I received Jesus as Lord and Savior at 19 years old while in college. So many young people in the colleges here in the Philadelphia area and the whole East coast were falling into the kingdom. That was in 1974. So many Viet Nam vets in college at that time were getting saved too. It was an awesome time.! God had mercy on our generation that was so lost. It has begun to rain again on young people today. The fullness of His outpouring has just begun. 🙏🙏🙌
@@cindybenson7594 The shepherding movement began with good intent. I learned a great deal from Derek, Charles and Bob Mumford particularly. There was an anointing on it but many leaders used the teachings as a license to abuse and so the movement fell into disrepute.
@@newsfromthepews6391 yes, I remember hearing Derek Prince speak at Jesus 75 in PA and we were all getting his books and learning so much. You're right, the abuses came later as leaders became authoritarian in their approach and prophecy was misused.
I appreciate your mentioning the shepherding movement. I'm a survivor of the controlling toxic beginnings of that movement. I bear the scars, but my faith is not shaken. It saddens me the damage it inflicted on so many who carry the same scars. Now, I only feed from the hand of Jesus. I deeply appreciate you sharing all of who Lonnie was, the good, the bad, the ugly, and lastly, repentant and redeemed in the end. The death bed confession is compelling, insightful, and powerful, and sums up Lonnie's authenticity to the end.
Oh my goodness this is so good. What a treasure. I had a vision of the huge dark storm that was coming. It was the very thing you and Lonnie were speaking of. This helps so much. I had a feeling when I heard of Lonnie’s end that there were things that had happened in his childhood and even before he came to Christ that had hurt him and that no one had really “fathered him” or helped him to be free from those things. Wow. Thx for sharing. Lonnie is indeed healed and preaching the gospel in this day just like Jesus told him.
I was kicked out of the Shepardship movement in 1972. But, after people began to come out of it, I was a healing gift to them to help the damage they had experienced. I was so saddened by Lonnie's life, but he was used mightily by God. Thanks for sharing.
@@edmundsmith7199 No. I lived in Colorado. But, I went to California for a visit in 1970 and then got save and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1971 in Colorado. I was kicked out of the Shepardship by Jim Reed and Charles Simpson in Colorado in April of 1972. I was marked as non submissive because I challenged not being able to pray in groups or have Bible study without an elder present.
@@jimmyalexander8717 glad you got out of it. A lot of people were burned badly by that movement. It’s not fun to be called undesirable, but staying would have had consequences. Did you know Ron Burks, while you were there?
This IS SO SIGNIFICANT .. ..A MOVIE NEEDS TO BE MADE ABOUT THE REAL BATTLE WE ARE IN RIGHT NOW. THANK YOU For revealing the whole story . Yesterday, after I saw the movie, I was deeply troubled, but this cleared it up for me. I had such a check in my spirit.
Thank you John, I love your unscripted version. I know we are in revival and the "Jesus Revolution" movie is so timely. It is helpful for us all to remember that amazing move of God! Thank you Sylvia from PB. Vineyard days
The full blown assault of satan to take hold of the youth through all the vile tactics Lonnie discussed at the end of his book. . we war not against flesh and blood but against the invisible rulers of darkness . We need to all go low , wash each others feet, and pick up our cross.. Asbury is demonstrating the simple message of the cross. No big name leader, no flashing lights, etc. just the Holy Spirit and the Word and pure worship
All I did was watch one video of the "Jesus Music" from 1969 to '79, and suddenly, your video came up first, the next time I opened TH-cam! Thank you, for speaking about your Friend, Lonnie, and reading excerpts from the book. So much rich truth in there... being Saved by our Lord, falling down, Jesus continually reaching, lifting us from the depths of deception, Loving us with an everlasting Love that will never fail.... even those of us who were so screwed up from the time we were very young, so broken, so fragile. This video and Lonnie's words moved me to tears and to praise, thankfulness for our amazing Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ!
Perhaps they should make a film about the victims he left in his wake; like how many died because he gave them a fatal disease, or what became of his wife when he ditched her because he was a pervert. No movies or memorials for them.
@@jonnyfrench19 I think you are sad and need to look in your mirror at a person that did not deserve to be saved but Jesus loved you and died a horrible death and was resurrected so your sorry pathetic sin filled life could have Hope. I pray for you allways I hope to see you at the Gathering Together. 🙏👍💞
Exactly what I was saying- make the movie about Lonnie & not the 2 others it seemed to be about! That’s what I thought it was going to be- about his life & encountering Jesus & all that he had accomplished- even through the mixups of his life- how God still used Him. Which would’ve showed all us- to don’t have to be a Pastor or a Elite person to be used by God!! That’s what most of us have All been taught! 😔
What you’re saying about the shepherding movement is so true. We made it through that heavy-handed control. At first when we heard Bob Mumford as teenagers, his messages were so powerful. Then maybe 5-6 years later he came to our church with his “disciples” and met with our leadership (a bunch of young, now married leaders). He had a q&A during this time, and I asked a question. My husband told me later that I wasn’t supposed to ask questions since I was a woman. Our Pastor didn’t say a word to quiet me. My husband said all the men knew that was Bob’s “policy,” but no one mentioned it to me :-) No pushback from me on what you’re saying. That discipleship movement shipwrecked many of my peers (those of us who were saved during the Jesus movement).
The Jesus Revolution was an incredible story of redemption & revival. It was good to hear the rest of the Story of Lonnies life. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you John for this video as I started going to Calvary Chapel when I was 15 and attended Newport Harbor high school. I remember Lonnie coming to our school at lunch and having Bible studies at the time. I also remember going on weekends to Newport Beach pier with Lonnie and other Christians from school and witnessing to other kids. I left and moved to Hawaii about the same time Lonnie left for Florida. Again, thank you for sharing this with us.
I went to the church in Fort Lauderdale a few years after Lonnie was there. By that time the shepherding/discipleship movement had disbanded and Derek and the pastors didn't teach it anymore. I was saved in 1971 in upstate NY during the Jesus movement it was pretty awesome. I moved to a college town and went to a former AG church called Christian Center. College kids would come in high on drugs and hear the worship and tongues and fall down but get up sober and saved....
Thanks for remembering the cult The Way, John. I got involved with them in '72 for several years and went to start "twigs" -- their "churches" -- in El Paso, TX, where I left the movement. By God's grace, I'm walking with Him now.
John, thank you so much for your sensitivity and obedience in posting this☺I'm a screenwriter/actress/director 🎦 who grew up singing Jesus people choruses, getting filled with the Spirit in the Vineyard in the 90's🍁, and longing for revival 🌊 for my 20 something kids who've been through betrayal, sexual confusion and a fatherhood and leadership vacuum in their world. Enter the voice of Lonnie Frisbee, for such a time as this, just as his influence blessed me significantly in two major life seasons already. Asbury and other revivals are starting 🙌 and his voice is so necessary for my kids (Gen Z), my industry (Hollywood), and the world we now live in. Bless you for sticking your neck out for Lonnie (once again). And Lonnie (in that wonderful cloud of witnesses ;) way to go! You got to preach with your life because you dealt with your stuff and went "to be gathered to your fathers" with clean hands and a pure heart ♥. Beautiful & thanks to you both! (By the way, I have children because I was physically healed in the Vineyard, as well. Such an amazing legacy! 🙏)
Thank you for giving us the amplified version. I have not seen the movie yet, as I have to travel over two hours to a theater playing it. I was born again in the Jesus movement. Pastor Raul Ries led me to Jesus. It was an amazing time of life, to have to leave for church 11/2 hours early just to find a parking place let alone a seat in the sanctuary. All to hear the Word of God and worship ❤️
Having listened to several testimonies around the movements , this fills in the gaps - perfect complement to the book launch event gathering with Phil A., Lou Engle, and others riding the waves. We’ve all struggled and need the strong support of our family in the faith to overcome, if only we’ll be honest enough to admit we’re fighting demonic spirits in these failures .. we need help.
WOW!!! my brother died of AIDS in '87. My brother came out in the early 80's. Lonnie has a beautiful way to describe what happened to those who sampled 'free love' with everyone. God used Lonnie in a new way - his life was astounding and his book sounds remarkable. May others learn from his incredible teachings in books and this movie.
What an honorable tribute to a true influencer. You served him well. I was part of Harvest for sixteen years and never heard about Lonnie Frisbee. I agree with what you said about Holy Spirit and The Word. You need both. I will always honor the role Harvest played in my life but I needed more. I walk fully with the Godhead and the gifts. It is a richer and fuller life. Loved everything you shared. Learned so much more than the movie. Thank you❤
This friend of Lonnie's is so full of love and humility. So glad he told this story. Lonnie's life is still producing a harvest for the Kingdom even in death. What a powerful testimony. Lonnie is no doubt in the arms of Jesus. I don't know exactly what those who have gone on before us are doing, but I can imagine God showing this to Lonnie and Lonnie being overjoyed that more people are coming to faith seeking out his story, testimony, prophetic visions, and gospel message.
Amazing testimony. I love the insight and the background of Lonnies life. How beautiful to see God’s story, in all of this , his redemption, and his forgiveness. He truly sees the depths of our heart and the brokenness, and longs to heal those deep wounds. God is so good I can’t wait to meet Lonnie in heaven. I love how genuine he was is and how he loved people. Thank you for sharing this story God bless everybody involved . May God get the glory ✝️💝
Three thumbs up. Cannot stop thinking about Lonnie’s story. And reading his three volumes is like reading the book of Acts; the same spirit pervades both. Had a chance to meet Lonnie around ‘66 but i passed it up. Great regret.
I see a sequel in the making about Lonnie's life. I'm so thankful for this for many rumors have been running rampant on line, even concerning Asbury. Satan is a liar. Jesus is the truth and the truth does set us free. Thank you for your wisdom in making this video.
Thanks, John Ruttkay, for giving us a personal, insider's story of your years with Lonnie Frisbee. I was saved in Illinois in 1973 and see myself as part of the Jesus Movement. It's hard to think that Lonnie died 30 years ago. Thanks for letting us know about his book, and for reading the excerpts from the end of his life. The "Jesus Revolution" was a good reminder of the music and turmoil of the times we lived in.
I was in the Children of God in Tucson Arizona and my first husband was with them in Florida. God was good and things always come to save people out of evil peoples grip when your heart is sincere. Thank God! I completely understand the evil of the church and for many years stayed away. I just in the last few weeks started to go and again have seen ego and church building as the center of the church. Lord keep me safe and finish the race with you! I really feel many spirits (evil as well) come into the church and a very discerning leadership is needed.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for making this video!! I just saw Jesus Revolution thinking it would be fun to see the context in which my church affiliation for the last 25 years has been: the Vineyard. And was caught by surprise by the epilogue remarks to learn that Lonnie started the Vineyard movement with no mention of Wimber. I was like, what? I’ve been to Vineyard trainings, pastors’ and church planting conferences, read their books, met or am familiar with some of the names you’ve mentioned, and had NEVER heard of Lonnie! (Correction: his name and Wimber’s were mentioned in a Berean blog I once read about false teachers.) I shrugged thinking he couldn’t have been that important to the movement, and forgot about it. That’s it!! So, I quickly looked him up and shocked, I watched the documentary. This left me speechless… I went to the Lord trying to make sense of all this and what it meant to my life and perspective, on what’s going on in the world today and on the sexual trauma that has affected me and different members of my own family. And on my own experience with church hurt as leaders. My heart was broken, troubled, and angry for Lonnie and even reopened some old wounds. This video helped me gain the necessary insight I was seeking God for, and helped ease that conflict in my heart. Lonnie’s books are essential for this day and age! Especially after the revival in Asbury, this movie, and the 2005 documentary that many will turn to afterwards. It’s very confusing. Keeping Lonnie’s side of the story hidden for so many years is an injustice. Keeping things in the dark is the devil’s playground. Everything eventually comes to the light! This video IS VERY IMPORTANT. Thank you so much!
Think I was in the overflow of this in North Dakota going to UND and getting saved in 1980 at 19 yo. Found Kieth Green's music and was so on fire and in love with Jesus. Hope something even greater happens in these dreadful times we are living in🙏
John Ruttkay, thank you so much for creating this video! I've been watching videos of Lonnie preaching and to my dismay when I go to the comments, I find unapologetic judgements and condemnation from so called 'Christians' who have forgotten the grace of God and His plan of; our honest repentance to receive His forgiveness! I question how many of them have brought tens of thousands of souls to Jesus Christ, or even have the burden for the lost? Lonnie was sold out to Christ! The saying, 'the higher the level, the higher the devil'...no one can know what Lonnie went through after being so rejected by 'the church', sure, he should have been strong in the Lord, but we are so unloving at times. In the moments we are the most unlovable, we NEED love the most! I rejoice in serving a God who is Faithful, full of Grace and Mercy to Love me at all times! He rewards me when I seek Him with all my heart! Love one another. ❤
Hi John! It has been a long time brother! This is Ken Kopelson :) Thanks for sharing all this about Lonnie! I remember how you and I would talk about Lonnie. I never really understood it all because the whole Jesus Movement was before my time by a few years. I really get it now, after seeing the Jesus Revolution movie. I'd love to reconnect with you. I am in Colorado Springs presently, after spending 18 months in San Diego rescuing my daughter from the streets, hard drugs, and a man who was abusing her. God sent me there to rescue her, which was totally successful.
Again, thanks John for having Lonnie’s back. I just recently read all 3 of his “Not By Might” books after watching “Jesus Revolution”. And the thing that broke my heart for the man, that most people don’t know about and what he opens up about in the 3rd book is, when the rumors started getting around that he was gay, on two different occasions, by two different men, Lonnie was beat up and sexually raped. The first guy tied him up, held him at knife point, cut him and left him for dead. And this is on top of every horrible thing that happened to him as a boy, and also being rejected by just about every church leader and person he came in contact with. And I understand that a lot of what happened later was his own doing and that he could be very difficult and hard to be around. But boy, was he blessed, anointed and used by God in a tremendous way! I’m just glad he’s home now and healed of all pain and suffering. Thank you Lonnie for all the souls you brought to Papa!❤
Love John's heart and the wisdom that came through his telling of Lonnie's story from a true friend. I read all four books and this was a great summation and commentary.
Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story of Lonnie’s life with us! I was saved in 1970 - Akron Ohio. I too was caught up in the shepherding movement and didn’t move past that until 1980. It’s amazing how this is my story and the story of so many of us. In the last 15-20 years I am focusing on Inner healing and so grateful for things like Celebrate Recovery, Sozo and deliverance ministries. We are truly going from glory to glory to manifest Him through us! Blessings!
I saw Jesus Revolution last night. It was good but I needed to know more about Lonnie. I ‘just happened to land on TH-cam’ after looking him up on line. John thank you for sharing your friendship with Lonnie. It helped me greatly. It is true none of us get out of life without sinning. I have sinned, Lonnie sinned--we all have sinned , but for the grace of God, His Son Jesus and The Holy Spirit that was/is to comfort and teach each of us, salvation and God’s Kingdom. As an old song I learned close to 40 years ago goes, “Now there is, therefore, now no condemnation, for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Lonnie is home in glory and maybe in heaven I’ll get to meet him. Praise the Lord.
Thanks for putting the record straight. The Lord saves sinners and produces fruit through broken people. Suffering in the body we rely totally upon the Lord Jesus. Forever in God's care.
Excellent broadcast. Thanks so much. Praying in the MOVE of GOD to come we will be wise and help the thousands-millions of hurting kids and adults who need healing and restoration by the power of the Holy Spirit. John Ruttkay you are wise, mature and so kind. Your leadership and this type of voice is exactly what we and they need.
John, you are a wonderful example of the wisdom and grace that can come to a person when they have a lifelong experience walking with Jesus. Thank you for your thoughtful, insightful, and loving thoughts. You make a great point that no Christian is all good, nor all bad. We are a combination of complexities, faults, AND God’s image at those times when we allow Him to reign in us. All praise to Him for His unconditional love in and through us! ❤
It makes me cry to know the pain that Lonnie was in. He wanted to abstain from sin, but fell back into from an extreme rejection in the body of Christ. God is still using him today.
I wouldn't say extreme rejection, as his friend said in this video, no one really knew what to do with this case in those days plus most leaders were already almost nuts trying to handle such a enormous growth in church all of the sudden. Nonetheless it was a tragic event but at least we know that Lonnie's spirit was free and saved at the end
Way more to it, than just his rejection...."rejection" is a Christians middle name,.especially if your fascinated to obey God....God gives people that straightway obey Him "a divine nudge" (towards people)....the mature and the seeker loves them......problem was, spirit filled Christianity went very worldly in the early 80's...few churches moved in the power of God ..maybe 1 or 30 churches.....now, I can't find any...this move went underground and is barely resurfacing today!
The story of Lonnie Frisbee reminds me of the warning to christians on 1Peter 5:8 Be sober minded,be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion , seeking for someone to devour.
You seem like a man who can be trusted. One of my older Brothers died early from Aids 1989, he was the first one to bring Jesus into our household. He went his way from coast to coast, and died eventually reading the Scriptures after trying everything from crystals to mediums to cure this fatal disease. My oldest Brother was a Preacher. I was always somewhere between them, that is until my older Brother kind of walked away from the ministry, now I cry out for his return to the pulpit. Pray for me as his life burdens me.
Dear John.. you need to see that a movie should be made about Lonnie’s life.. from beginning to end.. it was sad the way he was just dropped out of Jesus Revolution! That move of God would not have even happened without Lonnie
My goodness! Thank the Lord and you for finishing the story of Lonnie. I have not seen the movie yet, but have watched alot of interviews about it. When I saw Greg's video talking about Lonnie, I too was left sad in my spirit. So much was left out, but realize, like you said he probably did not have the bandwidth to go into details. I am left hopeful and encouraged from Lonnie's story and all that you shared. I especially am encouraged to find a believer such as you in my own backyard. I sat here this very morning in my home in Rancho Penasquitos praying for the Lord to lead me back to a home body of believers.....then your video popped up in my TH-cam feed. When I heard you say, Poway...................I almost jumped out of my chair.
I got saved in 1972 when I was 17 and my first pastor was Ern Baxter. The shepherding "movement" didn't move people towards liberty, but towards lockdown. Permission required for everything. I got married in December 1976. My husband and I left that church a few months later, got into a lovely church with a very dear pastor with a big heart. Nonetheless, I met wonderful people in that first church who were a great help and I love the songs we sang. They still minister to me.
Thank you for sharing this . As a person who was saved in 70s through the Jesus people movement…I have been lit up buy the Asbury out pouring …I love Revival …..especially ones that are geographical out pouring…I was in a church that embraced the Shepherding Movement . I received all I could from the Vineyard conferences put on here in Vancouver and was deeply impacted. I have always been hungry . I appreciated your insights throughout this ….it provides answers and truth . What you have shared is truthful encouragement in my journey . Thx again
Thank you for this John. It parallels my own journey. Adult conversion in 1974, joined Jesus Commune in Chicago , we fed on the Ft Lauderdale teaching continually. Heavy on submission to authority....light on personal , individual relationship at least in our circle. deep friendships forged in that close living discipleship, and so on. Eventually, God gets you on a good track and I'm so grateful for my relationship with him now and glad to see what He is doing now. It feels like a renewal of what He did back then. It has the sense of His Soverignty...not the work of men. Thank you for more info on Lonnie. The pioneers were used so greatly and paid a price in the course of it all.
Thank you for sharing your love for and friendship with Lonnie. I understand that the there are consequences for our sin. Lonnie is the man who Loved God and he was human. Just like king David, who was known as a man after gods own heart, sinned , and suffered the consequences of his sin. IE his sons behavior and his own death. But these men were loved by and greatly used by god. They are in heaven because they repented and were forgiven. Like you and I we are DAILY and HOURLY forgiven. Let us not be quick to judge but to forgive, just as we are forgiven ❤
19:24 So, Lonnie's best friend says Lonnie transitioned into a prophet, however in the movie Lonnie was depicted like he wanted glory for himself when he considered himself a prophet. If God called Lonnie to be a prophet, Hallelujah! Let's not make him look bad because of it.
John, thank you so much for sharing this. It is a beautiful tribute and very inspiring. I loved that he and you addressed the issue of childhood sexual abuse. Being in apostolic ministry while trying to recover from the common effects of those kinds of violations is incredibly difficult. I have lived that journey myself, but God knew my history and put me on that journey anyway. It has been both healing and tortuous. My heart goes out to Lonnie, and I am grateful to him for not quitting despite all the challenges. I have certainly benefitted from his faithfulness and from you telling his story. Thank you.
John, you are a Barnabas. A true gift of encouragement! Thanks for intervening for the body of Christ. Especially as these moves are coming to an end for a generation as they are going home.
Thank you John for making this video. It has cleared up many things in my own mind. Lonnie will always be known as a hero of the faith. And you being his friend, loved him at all time. Proverb 17:17
Thank you for sharing more about Lonnie's life and message. I saw the Jesus Revolution film last night and left filled with both hope for our generation and the church as well as grief about the reality of division in the church and brokenness in church leaders. We really need fathers in the church and I believe part of what God is doing in the current revival is flipping over the money changers tables, breaking down the corporate organizational structure, setting fathers in place and restoring genuine love for Jesus and brotherly love. The gospel is a story of redemption and that is Lonnie's story and all of our stories.
Agreed❤
I was saved as an 11 year old in '74. In the Midwest, I believe the Jesus movement was still taking hold and my testimony will always be that I was saved as a result of the Holy Spirit moving during that period. I agree whole-heartedly that the movie was the testimony witness from Greg Laurie. Which is what I was unaware of. I expected the history and glory of God moving during the "revolution" and I hoped for a spark to start the next revolution. Praying that Ashbury is that spark.
Let’s pray that more movies come
Out of this movie. I would love to see also the life story and ministry of Keith Green !!
For such a time as this. You have a ministry what we have been though we can help others
God is always moving. Be the move.
Would love that. I see an out pouring coming for your precious people
Blessings to you as well and thank you for your stand with God and for your work in Wales and everywhere you are.
The Jesus movement is not just ancient history . It continues and is eternal lasting through the 2nd coming and forever. Your hands and feet are the Lords hands and feet and you are an ambassador for Christ! Blessings from Silicon Valley California USA
Such a blessing to hear from you! Ty for sharing your experience. May His face shine upon you and give you peace!
Thank you for what you do. I live in wirral, not far from Wales. It's great to know people are still going out and ministering to others in public places ❤️
shalom
P
What a great testimony! Glad you overcame all that was meant for evil and saw God made for good! Preach!! ♡
God blessed you so much because you share His Love 🙏💞
Jesus commands us to to Repent And Believe!!
WOW 🤩
But to hear Lonnie live doing the Mother's Day thing at Calvary Chapel Yorba Linda that is on You Tube. That's Lonnie and what he looked like and how he preached. I just found that an hour ago on here. Powerful. John brought him to San Diego Vineyard once. I wish I'd paid more attention but I'm 70.
Amen 🙏
Thank you John. After seeing the Jesus Rev movie 2xs and having learned later in my life of Holy Spirit power and gifts, I was a little unsettled that Holy Spirit gifts and Power appeared mostly to be treated as the 'dramatic' instead of the miraculous blessing during that unprecedented time. I remember the Time magazine cover.
Thank You for sharing Lonnie's journey..... difficult times and being close to Jesus.....
I loved the Lord as a young person...... and being raised in a violent alcoholic home for 18 years...... my heart began to harden in my 20's and turned away from the Lord...... like Lonnie my journey has had consequences.... but Jesus never let go of me.... and now I love the Lord so much
.... and repent when I stumble❤️
May God Bless you and
forever Lonnie
JR 3.0 😉
Wow amen. God's timing,
That was wonderful to hear, because I had questions that weren't being answered.
You expressed this so well.
Did you know he referred himself in a so called sermon as a man under the order order of Melchizedek?
Thank you John for settling the record straight. Lonnie was so fortunate to have a real friend like you. God Bless you.
I hope that everyone who sees the movie sees your video too because it's like a Part 2. You answered my questions and completed the movie experience for me about Lonnie's life and much more. Thank you for your obedience to God to do this for so many who need to know how his life ended and what he said. It's so important.
And the go to TH-cam and Watch Lonnie live at Mother's Day at Calvary Chapel Yorba Linda. That is a whole hour of Lonnie. Just watched. Powerful!!!
So true! This was like the real and most powerful ending. (no offense) ❤
God bless you and your family.
God bless your heart Joyce I'm thankful and inspired by your story. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways and knowledge Him and He will direct your path. AGAPE dear one!
@@sirvicemanone The Lord is always with us and may you be blessed as well.

Thank you for sticking with Lonnie. Everyone needs a friend that sticks closer than a brother!!
John, I saw the movie Tuesday and thought there had to be more to Lonnie’s story. I’m so glad you shared this. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to him. Blessings.
Glad you enjoyed it
I saw the move yesterday and needed to know more about Lonnie.
My thoughts exactly
The Lord is mysterious in his ways; here Lonnie is healing others through the power of the Holy Spirit, yet can't get healed himself that way. His ultimate healing actually seemed to come through his suffering, and even after that, God will work that to help others at such a time as now.
It is beautiful beyond description, much like Jesus. God bless you
I received Jesus 1970 while Lonnie shared at Calvary Chapel 💕
This testimony has given me a new heart for homosexuals. Lonnies words are so true. Thank you for sharing. God Bless you all.
Amen!!
Agree, God did a mighty work through Lonnie. Sometimes we get lost along the way, but God never forsakes us, never abandons us, knows our hearts.
Hi Mark Vanouse!😁
I remember in high school his English teacher let him paint his essay instead of writing it. He was a beautiful artist then.
What an awesome teacher to let a student who may struggle in one way be able to express what they learned in the classroom Using a different medium of expression
💖
That sounds like one compassionate, insightful teacher. Did you go to HS with him??
Not until Estancia was built. He went to Corona Del Mar his first two years
Wow.. wonder where it is now?
Cycle of rejection…creates trauma.
Wanda!!!!! Yay! I’m one of your listeners and bought your book 📕 Words to pray by. Awesome to see your comment right after mine! ❤️ much love to you and the Lord’s blessing for you and Bobby!
John,
Thank you for sharing, this is the most honest well balanced telling of Lonnie’s story that I’ve ever heard.
@@projectdesign4675 Amen
Thank for sharing. You’ve giving me a deeper understanding of the struggle
Acts 10:28

Amen!!!
💯 agree 🙏🙏

Was he saved though ??
@@toolegittoquit_001 God knows whether he was or not. But it matters how you finish, and if you watch the last 20 minutes you can see fruit of repentance.
@@toolegittoquit_001 are you ⁉️
He was a new creation and He showed that fruit by how he recreated with the authority Jesus has given all who belong to Him.
Thank you. Ill check out your book. Have experienced thus as do many have.
Where were you at? Ft Lauderdale?
@@edmundsmith7199 No. I lived in Colorado. But, I went to California for a visit in 1970 and then got save and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1971 in Colorado. @@iknowheis I did too and I have been wondering why?
What battle are you referring to?
THIS IS POWERFUL!!!!! People NEED to hear this!!!! They should make a movie / documentary about this.
I could not agree more! His ultimate legacy could be reaching a whole new segment of our society.
Perhaps they should make a film about the victims he left in his wake; like how many died because he gave them a fatal disease, or what became of his wife when he ditched her because he was a pervert. No movies or memorials for them.

@@sirvicemanone I think the same things about you too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is awesome & powerful thanks for sharing
You are so welcome
Would love to have you on my stream!
Thanks for remembering the cult The Way, John. I got involved with them in '72 for several years and went to start "twigs" -- their "churches" -- in El Paso, TX, where I left the movement. By God's grace, I'm walking with Him now.

Hi that's so cool. I'm in the industry too as a MUA ..great to connect with fellow Christians.❤ I'm absolutely blown away by this video. 🙌
Thank you for sharing this! His deathbed quotes reveal the Truth of Jesus in his life. Every man dies, but not every man lives. ♥️🙏
So does his books.
@@loreneedwards6215 yes- I was referring to Lonnie’s quote’s in his books. Specifically chapter 22 of the last book. 😊
Wow so true.
He was loved and cherished by God. Such a great vessel.
Bravo, Chris..
It’s now streaming and for sale. Wonderful movie.
My story as well. Hugs
If you don't mind me asking did your brother repent?
@@raymondsmith2040 - I was a different person then - so I'm not sure - looks like that's between him and God.
How sad you think he was a believer… LONNIE will say, when he meets the judge, lord lord.
@@pmlatimerable how sad you have little faith! And Lord Lord s/b in caps!!

Yes
Just no
God does not let any hurt go to waste. What the devil meant for evil God uses for good
Thanks, John Ruttkay, for giving us a personal, insider's story of your years with Lonnie Frisbee.
Hope something even greater happens in these dreadful times we are living in🙏
Thank you for filling in the missing pieces! So powerful! Praise God!
Blessings!
Beautiful testimony! Im thankful for your friendship to Lonnie and your dedication to speaking the truth! God bless you. ❤️😊☮️
Thanks so much for sharing. My heart breaks for what he, Lonnie, went through but glad he was reconciled back to the Lord in the end.
Loved this. Only problem was how often commercials were, sonetimes in middle of sentence so had to rewind on my Roku
Greg Lauri said that too.
I’m glad you are speaking up
This makes me sad because this happens so much in “the Body”
Thank you Brother. Very powerful and you honored your friend in a Christ way.
I’m HIV+, since 1998. Thank you for sharing all the reality of this beautiful soul, imperfect as all of us.
The story of Lonnie Frisbee reminds me of the warning to christians on 1Peter 5:8 Be sober minded,be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion , seeking for someone to devour.
Vineyard worship changed my life & walk with Christ!
Thank you for being a good friend.
Thx again
THANK YOU so much for setting the record straight.
Especially as these moves are coming to an end for a generation as they are going home.
this interview made me weep as i reinvited the kindness of God into my life
Thank you John for making this video.
