    Hi Laura - I love the idea of window boxes, but they might also make opening the windows less useable because what you have in them gets in the way. Moveable containers would be so much easier. So excited to see the finished shed!

    I bet using some unique stone benches in front on the flower shed would be cute. Not necessarily as a spot to sit, but more as a table to place potted flowers. Kinda like how Claus has a lot of his pots gathered around an entrance. I love the hidden garden behind the shed. ❤

    Looks beautiful !! Check the command strip instructions, most need you to put them up then leave them for an hour to bond before you hang anything on them. Benjamin is such a little ray of sunshine 🌞

    • @SenterStuff
      @SenterStuff 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, that’s what I was thinking as they continued to fall off. That’s the hardest part for me, waiting that time before hanging whatever I had planned.

      I bought the strips for glass, cleaned the glass with rubbing alcohol per instructions, let the strips sit for longer than instructions said, wreath fell 3 times. Never mind! And this was on the inside window of an inside door.

  • @nickles4652
    @nickles4652 2 ปีที่แล้ว +44

    Now that is dedication! Even Benjamin has lights, lol! 😂
    It looks great!
    Just a suggestion: if you plan on having lights around the roof line, you could get an outlet put in the eaves. We gad a house that had one and it was a game changer for Christmas lights. Ours was comnected to a light switch inside the house, so we didn't even have to go outside to turn them on or off.

    • @greenthumbelina7331
      @greenthumbelina7331 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a brilliant idea! I used the same concept inside my home when we rewired, such as outlets above my kitchen cupboards with a switch installed beside the GF outlets on the backsplash on either side of my kitchen sink.

    The shed is so cute - even unfinished. And so pretty with this touch of holiday decor. Good thing nobody stands still around there, or Laura would wrap a strand of lights and hang a wreath on them. 🤣🤣💚💚💚

    The section behind would be an amazing “unstructured play area” if that makes sense. Our kids have the same space behind a similar out building and it’s where they collect rocks and sticks and such. They make themselves truck ramps and fairy gardens and honestly whatever they want. It’s their favorite place in our yard and I never have to see the mess ✌️😹

    • @mirandasands74
      @mirandasands74 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Our family did this as well. It was such a blessing to have a space for our boys to dig with their bulldozers and building to their hearts content while I worked in the garden.

    I like the shed. I would not go with drywall. With all the wood on the outside it will give it a natural look. On the inside i would keep that same theme going and use ship lap siding. I would give the wood a white wash. Ship lap would be more durable than drywall. I would want to be patching holes in drywall. With ship lap you can easily hang things on it and not have to find studs.

    • @2ManyTomatoes
      @2ManyTomatoes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I agree, shiplap would be the way to go. In our finished garages, we put thin plywood under the drywall so you can hang anything you want wherever you want.

    • @gretchenburton7184
      @gretchenburton7184 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shiplap would be great!!!

    • @kevinmeyer8068
      @kevinmeyer8068 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@2ManyTomatoes Wow, I am in the building trade and never thought of that idea. Only thing you would have to do is install electrical boxes a little farther out from the studs so everything sits flush after finishing drywall. good idea.

    • @ritasicari7518
      @ritasicari7518 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Reclaimed pallet wood would look great, too.

    • @anitahadley2871
      @anitahadley2871 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I like this idea. I think drywall would make it look like the studio. This would give it a different look. It could be painted a solid white if and be more like drywall but like you said, more durable.

    Good morning! How cute is that flower shed. The wreaths and trees are just the right amount of Christmas for the shed! I vote for no window boxes, I think that would overwhelm the shed. I’m a fan of less is more. Can’t wait to see the finished flower shed.

    Hey Laura! I love seeing the progress on your shed and can't wait to see the final result! Since you have yet to have the shed wired I thoughtI would share a little detail I have used on my home. I included an outlet in the soffit under the roofline and connect it to a timer switch in the garage. That way I don't have to have extension cords running down the side of the house and over to the nearest outlet! It made putting up Christmas light a breeze! Warm wishes from Canada!

    She is so anxious for the shed to be done. It looks very pretty and sweet. The dreaded "Command Strips". A lot of the pre-made greenery comes from the Pacific north-west (think of the logging industry there) so they have an abundance of tree sources and don't have long distance shipping to pay for.

    I would just use the hayrack window boxes for the cut flower garden shed, that way you can have them filled and looking nice during the growing season when you are in that area every day to enjoy and take care of them, and just remove them in fall/winter. Also I think it would look great and very farm-like, a good fit for the orchard area
    So exciting to see the area developing 🤗

    I love window boxes, but in this case-I vote "no". I think the view of the shed will be classic as is, and window boxes would take away from the beauty in this specific case. It reminds me to see the lovely possible and ignore the less than pretty parts (White plastic with writing building wrap) on the way to gorgeous. Such an incredible way to view life. Thanks again for sharing with us!

    A few climbing roses would look great on the shed! Love the wreaths and Christmas trees with lights.. A lovely veranda with swing chair would look very pretty. 😊

    I like that you have taken to using real trees around the property this year. Stimulates agriculture and avoid potential plastic or mixed plastic and metal waste that likely won't get recycled at the end of it's usefulness

    Laura! I LOVE that you decorated your unfinished shed. Your attitude inspires me! I’m getting ready for a kitchen reno and I’ve been hesitant to decorate because I know what a mess it will be, but now I’m going to do it and just enjoy Christmas! 🌲🎄

    Looks beautiful. Have you thought of just putting some gravel around the exterior of the Garden Shed, that might help in keeping dirt from from the wooden siding. Those trees are just so cute. Thanks for the inspiration.
