Yea it’s something cool about his reviews. A bad film is never entirely bad and can still have some redeeming qualities. I look at Halloween Kills for example, and although I think it’s a pretty meh film, the whole idea that Michael is the personification of Evil and evil tends to being out the worst in us came across perfectly through the townspeople. It brought out the worst in them and look where it got them. Look where it got Laurie’s daughter. I found it to be a good thing to come out of the movie. Or Multiverse of Madness, another movie I thought was meh. Still loved the tone and style of the film, it was more horror like and had some really neat cinematography, I’d even say some of the best from the MCU. Or Last Jedi, a movie I do actually think is bad. However, the themes of killing the past and that you don’t need to be part of a lineage to be meant or destined for greatness were really interesting (they were just executed poorly imo).
I always thought that bloodline should have been a second trilogy. The concepts are interesting and do A LOT for the lore but I feel like we miss much due to it being crunched into one movie. Like they always kind of suggest that Leviathan stepped in to fill the power vaccume that Angelique's dissappearance left and thus the change in the Hell Dimension's focus. Also they had to remove interesting things like how the Chatterer Dog is not an animal but a Cenobite made up of several different people.
I'm not a big fan of these movies. That being sad I have heard how bad 5-10 can be and that the fact that the hellraiser hasn't had a theatrical release scince the 4th filmwith the closest being the upcoming hulu film does kinda make me feel for those who are fans. Is something that I can relate to as a chucky fan with the only chucky film to be theatrical since 2004 being the remake so it's like not having theatrical releases with just having straight to DVD films and the show. I really think that if they gave it a more modern feel and a theatrical release these film could have a much bigger fan base

I find it amazing that the hellraiser franchise was were Scott Derrickson got his directing start and that led him to doing the exorcism of Emily rose, Sinister, Deliver us from evil, Doctor Strange, and recently The Black Phone.
What’s weirder is that Derrickson jumped immediately from a crappy straight to DVD Hellraiser sequel to The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, how do you go from a gig directing a straight to DVD sequel that wasn’t even originally written as part of the franchise to a big budget remake of a classic movie with an all star cast?

3 is fun trash imo. Not amazing but still fun. Hellraiser 4 was a cool concept that was halter by studio meddling/re-editing the final film, andddd the straight to dvd films were made only to keep the rights.

Awesome video my ranking for the first 4 would be 1, HR2 Hellbound 2, hellrasier 3, Bloodine( really dug a lot of Concepts in that movie but yes execution was poor LOL) 4, hell on earth, not too much to like about that one other than Doug Bradley's performance

Funny.. I decided I wanted to watch all the movies a few days ago, and then this video pops up 🙂 I watched the first one yesterday. Great story.. But it kind of drops the ball towards the end. Like they didn't really know where to go with the story, so everything feels very random towards the end. Like Frank taking the appearance of Larry, for no reason explained, and the dragon dude.. I mean, it all felt very random. I'm sure you can analyze it, and it will make sense, I don't know... I then also decided that I WOULDN'T watch all movies, I didn't realize there were 10 of them. I was guessing 4 or 5... So, if I should only watch 3 of them... Which ones should it be? 🙂

When I first discovered the whole hellraiser franchise was back in 2019. It was during August I think and i decided to watch all the movies. Here's my thoughts about the series. I really like the first movie, also like the second movie as well. I enjoyed hell on earth. Bloodlines was decent not my favorite but it was decent. Inferno is my favorite one out of the sequels because the story was great and the themes of the movie. Hellseeker is cool, we got Kirsty coming back and bits of the story was decent. Deader sucked and hellworld was bad, aside from Henry Cavill and Lance Hendrickson being in it and this movie was also the last we would see Doug Bradly as pinned. Revlations was terrible and judgement was actually good, even though it has a lower budget the director actually cared about the movie, the kills were really good, the actor who played pinned actually did a great job and was miles better than the one in revlations. Cannot wait to see the new one releasing October 7th.
Love all 4 of these eventhough they vary in tone a lot especially 3&4 it's so unique and better then anything after but I will show love for inferno as that's the first one I watched I know the lead is a piece of sh** but the ending was creepy because he realised his mistakes and knows he has to live forever repeating the same cycle kinda haunting to think about anything after I'm not a fan.

The subtle changes in Hellbound are always overlooked - chatterers design, the female cenobites actress being replaced- the direction of tone. If the original is a twisted soap opera of sorts- the sequel is a grand opera show in comparison. Number 3 is just what MTV influence does to a franchise (look at nightmare 4 lol) Hellraiser will always hold a dear place in my heart for pushing boundaries and creating a horror which until that point- hadn’t really been played upon. I like Revlations! When you binge the franchise and get sick of 5-8, Revelations feels like a back to roots student film of the first. Can’t wait for the new Hellraiser!

Lemmy and Ozzy wrote it but Ozzy's version was first and then Motorhead did theirs.

The Doctor Chanard Cenobite is one of my favorite monsters of all time. Scared the shit out of me as a kid.
The movies are so wild I absolutely love them, sadly I haven't seen any hellaiser movie beyond 4.

They suck but have their merits. Except Revelations. It is worth watching for how absolutely terrible it is.
