I feel sorry for you that this was your first Halloween movie watching. I didn’t hate this, but watching the original first was a special experience. I haven’t really liked any Halloween movie again since H20. I do however enjoyed the 2018 version I guess the most out of Resurrection, and Zombie’s double Halloween movies. I consider this the trailer trash Myers era, too violent, too vulgar, but I’m one of the few who liked Zombie’s Halloween 2 compared to the first one. Maybe because it seemed like a newer idea, and I really hated that young Myers kid from the first one.

His first one is absolutely amazing, idc what anyone says. The 2nd one wasn’t great near the end but he did the first movie very VERY well in my opinion. Enjoyed it all the way.
I didn't like the supernatural crap that was added to the 2009 movie. However, I really liked the opening scene with Laurie dreaming about being chased in the hospital and surrounding outside vicinity. You don't know that she is dreaming until they show her screaming while waking up in bed.
This was one of my favorite Halloween films. Still is. But I also like RZ as a director. The back story for Michael. The killing of his whole family. His mom trying to hold on to the family she has left, hoping he can get better. Then when she realizes he does not have a chance of getting better.

I appreciate the hard work you have been doing putting out all these videos leading up to Halloween kills Chris!! Have watched and love everyone so far and can’t wait for the rest!
Even though I really dislike the 2009 sequel I think it has one of the most brutal Michael killings when he's repeatedly stabbing the nurse and you can hear him grunting. Totally agree Michael is very menacing in the Zombie films.
Finally rewatched the theatrical cut for the first time in 14 years and I remembered why I liked the movie on initial watch. I think it's a pretty good introduction to a humanized version of Myers and I actually felt bad for him. I liked the explanation of the obsession with masks too. And there was a good variety of kills too. Annie's assault is pretty gut wrenching because she ends up covered in blood but you have no idea what Michael did to her, only that it paralyzed her where she couldn't even talk. And I love endings where Michael is definitively killed, and I marked out when Laurie pulled the trigger and the blood splattered on her face and she was screaming. I also liked that maybe Michael was helping Laure aim the gun too, because he was probably just too tired and knew he had no reason to live.
Rob also always picks great makeup and special effect artists because the kills in his movies always look so real and brutal and gritty. I freaking love it 😂
I respect what Zombie did with his interpretation of Halloween, but I love the concept of Michael Myers being a form of evil with no explanation, like the Joker in The Dark Knight, he’s a man who just wants to watch the world burn, he’s given no backstory, only up to the viewer’s opinion, Michael Myers was created as an incarnation of evil, that’s it, nothing else, which I personally find more frightening. He’s evil because he’s evil, not because of a rough upbringing.
No backstory or explanation is the biggest smoke and mirrors CON ever . It doesn’t make it scarier at all it’s just a CHEAP way to avoid critique and deconstruction. If it’s your movie then tell YOUR story and YOUR vision , it shouldn’t be left for everyone to have their own take on what it is
@@tharealest8190 Are you daft? In a horror movie setting, we as humans are afraid of the unknown, that in which we cant explain. The fact that Michael has no reason for what he does is what makes him so damn frightning. You cant reason with him, he only kills. Thats the point.
i also remember seeing this at a young age. the whole family dynamic and the verbal abuse and hints at the physical abuse saddened me a lot when i watched this film, but it adds to the credibility of (like chris said) what real serial killers home lives were prior to them becoming one.
Gotta love Danielle Harris. So youthful. She was 30 frigging years old when she played a high school kid in this movie. Great show as always buddy. I agree with you about this film in almost every way.
Dude, I love Rob Zombies version of Halloween! I love the back story part of it..and honestly this 7 foot tall version of Michael Myers is the most terrifying!! 🎃 🎃
This film is my favorite of all. It recreates the most iconic kills and introduced new actors as main characters instead of being afraid to go outside fan favorites. The actor for Myers portrays the unstoppable evil shape perfectly. Anybody in his way will not only die but perhaps suffer something so foul before reaching a horrific death. If you're lucky you die quickly but if not he defiles you.
I actually realllllllllly liked this movie. I grew up watching this too. Don't get me wrong the original is a classic but this is such a good realistic take. This was the way to go!
I was always a fan of Rob Zombie’s Halloween 1 & 2 back when I watched them in theatres. Sure they’re not for everyone. But at least, he put his own unique twist and spin to it and made it in his own style. Especially the 2nd one, which is one of my favourite Halloween’s. They definitely deserve more love and attention.
@@cinematicgames exactly. People are mad that Myers guns and was extremely brutal and criticized that his face was often shown. The fact John did the same shit with his Halloween (2018) and now Halloween Kills💀 the double morals
You nailed right on the head. When Debra Dies, Michael Myers Died and The Shape/The Boogeyman is born. When i saw this movie i was 23 and already have been invested in the series for 16 years at that point. That was one of the 1st things i thought of, cause i was extremely close to my Mom and their relationship just resonated with me. Also the "Ugliness" Michael says of Himself, is that evil growing inside of him, cause whenever he kills, he is wearing the mask and he feels like he can maybe hide it from the world. The rage that Loomis would talk about, was physically worn on Michael's face, especially after Mikey kills the Nurse and His Mom lifts the mask off his face and he is clearly in a Raging Demonic Episode. This was a great representation of him turning into the Evil he is described as being.
I really enjoyed it as a kid loved it even but the second one is a bit more hit or miss in many areas but overall i do love the portrayal of Michael he's like a bruting tank an unstoppable force of nature untamable and unreasonable
I actually love RZ's Michael and I do believe the hate comes from people misunderstanding his vision. His Michael was off the walls brutal and intimidating as all hell and one of my favorite visions for the character.
Nice to hear this kind of review for a change. I happen to consider Rob Zombie's Halloween films among the best in the series. Watched them together again recently (first time watching directors' cuts) and it was an awesome experience. Not for everyone, but I would be surprised if the new film is as dark and violent. I still think Kills looks great, though.
I'm so happy to hear you liked this movie too. Its probably my second favorite movie of the franchise because I love all the new additions made by Rob, I even like the remake scenes that most fans didn't. My only problem is the face that the theatrical cut of this one and the second are so hard to find and there are some major differences between em. If you've seen the different versions.. you know what scenes I'm talking about.
@@callumbutler9902 Hehe. Been a member for about a decade! I remember watching this film in 2012 on Halloween Night on SYFY. Immediately after, Halloween 2 (2009) started. Now, I had a game room in the basement, and when Michael was about to get Laurie, the power went out…😳😥😅😁
I like Rob Zombie’s take on it. It was one of the first times we got to see Michael Myers be brutal (unlike the other previous films, they didn’t show him being brutal with his kills, just sort implying it). We got a backstory on why Michael is the way he is. He came from a “bad home” where violence was common in his home. It took a child who seemed to be good kid but his environment broke him and he found an outlet of his own, more violence. More graphic than what he was experiencing. He wanted to hurt those that hurt him and then losing his mom (who he loved so much) was his breaking point. Once she died, he lost what little joy he had in life left. He became a shell of man with nothing to live for except his baby sister Boo. He had a bond with her and that what was left of the what made him happy as a kid. Once she rejected him (not knowing that was her actual brother) and after knowing he attacked her friends, he was the caused of her being traumatized, just like their mother was by his actions.
I did like this interpretation, but will always prefer the original. The one thing I liked most about Zombie's Halloween was the orange mask. I honestly think he should've stuck with that one, even though I love the iconic original mask.
Something that's interesting is that I knew someone that spent time in 80-100, which is code for the institution for suicidal kids. I remember this person talking about/showing all the masks the doctors encouraged them to make while inside. Knowing that, I'd say Zombie was spot on with the whole mask idea.
Also, Loomis spent 15 years working with Michael and decided to write a book. Why in any case is that terrible? He realized what he was doing wasn't good and risked his life to help Michael in the end. That's the summary of all the Halloween movies. I'm pretty sure that's what Zombie was going for.
thats also how i feel for 2009 friday the 13th remake. a lot of people hate it because they changed things but if its going to be the exact same what is the point of doing it all over again?
@@ericb9252 while i would agree most times reemakes suck, it also sucks to go in our movie industry journey without seeing these iconic characters again on the big screen. the new Halloween 2018 and Halloween kills showed there indeed can be a good remake its just up to writers. also I thought friday the 13th was a very good remake even rob zombie Halloween 1 was decent. but yeah overall I don't think not remaking is a good choice cuz I'm just dying to see my favourite slashers in new movies while all the other franchises and genres are rocketing
I felt like 3C here, because like how Halloween 2007 was his first and most favorite Halloween movie, I feel the same with Halloween Kills, it was my first and most favorite slasher!
Started watching the whole trilogy again at the same time you did and in my opinion it out did the original by going into more detail about Michael and made him scary again on screen, sure there are some flaws but overall in my opinion his trilogy is awesome. Wish we could’ve gotten more! I mean Tyler mane was 6”9 playing as Michael Myers which was just insane to see
@@D-Loccsta817Tx I definitely agree! This is the best out of all the Halloween movies to date. Being someone that prefers older movies, rob zombie outdid himself with the casting choices and brought something to the trilogy that just made these movies so dark and gritty which I really enjoyed
I’ve always said this is such a good take on the original. I love how gritty and real it feels. I remember my friends step dad had this on dvd when it released and he never let us watch it lol
After my first viewing I can’t ever watch the death scene of Danny Trejo, breaks my heart every time I have to fast forward 🥺 I actually really like this Halloween and just like you was one of my first that I saw so I have nostalgia vibes with it!
In my opinion it never hurts to take a new approach to a character but with Michael Myers it's hard to recreate the original without screwing it up and this film does a decent job of that
I throughly enjoyed this take on Halloween. It was truly fresh in an era of remakes. I was concerned at first because it was Rob zombie but I think because carpenter gave its blessing he wanted to give the movie some justice. Now the second Halloween I’m not gonna mention but this one I can get with.
I think this is an alternate reality of Spy Kids, where Juni never got involved in O.S.S. and became a local school bully. Poor kid never had a chance.
Rob Zombie’s Halloween Duology had the darkest vibe to it. Even though I like it less than the original Halloween (1978) and Halloween (2018), it still is the darkest
Great review! I was always a Freddy / Jason fan growing up and never cared much for Michael Meyers until this movie came out. I dare say that I like this movie better than the original. This version of Michael is much more terrifying than the OG.
I really liked 2007 Zombi Halloween. Great background on your Mike and interesting take on him not being supernatural but enormous. It was more brutal than the original.
Like u I had a dad that let me watch scary movies and such , but my first Halloween was the original 1978 , but when this one came out and I saw it I was hands down the best Halloween EVER and I still feel that way, I love the blumhouse remakes but still this one is so intense , I can watch it constantly. Ty for the review , keep up the good work !
This movie has two versions, the Theatrical and Directors cut, one difference is Dr. Loomis in the Directors cut is a lot more sympathetic and seems upset that he wasn’t able to help Michael
Also the hideous sexual assault scene that caused the escape as opposed to him attacking the police, which was a much stronger scene and really showcased Michaels strength and brutality early on. Michael ripping out the officers throat with his bare hands was a great visual effect. I love Rob Zombie but the sexual assault scene was just unnecessary, all in the name of shock value I think. I definitely preferred the more sympathetic Loomis too!
H20 was the first Halloween movie that introduced me to the Character, but being a White/Rob Zombie fan first, and then after seeing House of 1000 Corpses when I was 19… I just love Rob Zombie as a filmmaker and artist. This was an absolute savage take on Michael Meyers, definitely what the franchise needed, and maybe it wasn’t meant to be cannon, maybe it was just, in the grand scheme of things, meant to make Michael Meyers scary again. It worked. Love the videos man, the cringe intros give me life.
Like you my dad took me to see this in theaters when i was also 12 lol, so it holds a special place in my heart as well. You made some really good points in this! Alot of people sh*t on this movie but honestly Michael is sick in it. Great review Chris!
First time I watched Halloween was in early 80’s. Scared the ever livin $h1t out of me as a kid. I couldn’t go outside my house alone at night for quite a while. That said, Zombies version is the absolute best for me. The movie is so raw & I like that Michael was so effin physically huge in this, just adds to it. I watched Halloween Kills last night & it was good, like you said not the worst one. It was funny hearing the audience cheering at each kill & some of the sounds the girls would make on some of the gory scenes. 🎃🤡
I agree 100%. I love this movie. It's the ultimate fan Halloween story. Everything I had wondered about was in this. The brutality is very good. Hard, fast and very realistic.
i’m 22 so this was also my “first” Halloween but i’m the odd kid who likes part 2 of the rob zombie flicks more😭😭 i just didn’t dig kid Myers… i did dig like the ending/climax though & myers in his final form.

@@kristaVegas that’s what makes opinions like buttholes. We all have one, and it stinks. I loved part 2 as well. THANK YOU!!! omg it’s about time this movie gets some fricken credit. Rob’s remake is AMAZING! i as well watched this in the theaters when i was 12 years old.

To be honest Rob Zombies halloween movies are a guilty pleasure. Infact one thing the movies did right was how to bring the character into the modern day right. That is get rid of what's trending and go down to bare knuckle bones.
I’m not a heavy movie critic , I guess I’m easy to please I don’t know but I thoroughly enjoy the rob zombie remakes. I can see fans passionate of the franchise not liking the fact they know WHY Michael snaps, instead of being left wondering. We see why Michael is a psychopath in robs remakes, I think if it was based off just a random character instead of it being a remake for Michael, it would be more appreciated. The brutality in his kills though in the remakes are remarkable.
I love Rob Zombie’s “Halloween”. I like that he explored his childhood. I like how brutal Michael is in this one and “Halloween II”. Malcolm McDowell, Danielle Harris, and Brad Dourif! “Halloween II” wasn’t as good but... 🤷🏻, lol.
Halloween Kills was the first slasher flick I ever watched, it made Halloween my favorite slasher, and got me hooked to the subgenre. Halloween Kills is also by far my favorite
Great review, and I totally agree! BTW, I didn't know that was the guy who voiced Chucky! Wow, that makes it seem like the movie could have been themed as "Chucky vs Michael".
i saw this when i was like 9 and i was terrified but looking back i loved it. rob zombie for me made michael absolutely terrifying, tyler mane played Michael amazingly in my opinion his height and strength just made everything more scary
I 100% enjoyed this movie on its own. Though I HATE the controversial scene that is in the Unrated Directors cut. It’s not only awful it’s also badly acted. (Michael doesn’t mind what’s going on but once they touch his mask is when he decides to act?) I love all the other additional scenes! But I much prefer the guards vs Michael break out out scene. It paints a better picture of the security of Smiths Grove while showcasing the kind of brutality that awaits Haddonfield on Halloween day. But otherwise I find this film a complete Greek tragedy. I hate RZH2. I cannot defend it. Like Halloween 3 it’s a Halloween film made for people who just wants anything BUT a Halloween film with Myers. (The “Die!” Scene should be the obvious clue). Great if anyone enjoys them but I love Halloween II, Halloween 4, H20, and Halloween 2018 so much. Halloween 6 theatrical cut is the most brutal Michael and has some of the best visual effects in terms of kills that it’s just a fun 90s fan fiction that I’ll never buy into. Plus I love the mask. Anyways. I just enjoy the Myers centered stories a lot more. I love slashers! I don’t care about Mumbo Jumbo magic or psychic connections. But Rob Zombies’ Halloween 1 is an absolute misunderstood Greek tragedy and I love it for that aspect.
You should watch the theatrical cut of RZ Halloween 2. Sounds like you just watched the directors cut. Don't get me wrong, the theatrical cut still has a lot of thing that should be changed. But I do think in a lot of ways, the 2 cuts are different movies. For example, the 2 cuts end differently. They have a different ending. I won't spoil anything about the plot but I will say the "DIE!!!" scene isn't even in the theatrical cut. The theatrical cut also cuts out several of the scenes where Laurie is being an unbearable jerk. I think shes actually a likeable character in the theatrical cut. Loomis still sucks in the theatrical, but hes also toned down in the theatrical. Some of his really mean scenes of dialog are cut from the movie. He was still ruined as a character but isnt as bad as in the director's cut. I also hated the directors cut but I am honestly kind of a fan of the theatrical. I recommend you give it a shot, although just because I liked it doesn't guarantee you will like the theatrical cut either. But I do think its worth giving a shot.
I am one of those few that actually really liked this take on Michael. I quite enjoyed the story and the "perfect storm" of events that took a kid and made a monster. Maybe it's the comic fan in me that sees it as an elseworld/multiverse type thing. I thought Daeg Faerch played young Michael pretty well, he could look quite normal but also kind of sinister. Much like Halloween 3 - Season of the witch this movie gets over hated and as a stand alone movie probably would be looked upon more fondly... I guess the Halloween title is a blessing and a curse.
Totally agree. I love the mix of remake and reimagining. Just the perfect mix of recreating and flat out new. The ending is so great, too. Laurie losing her mind screaming and then the home movie of her and Michael and the song kicking in with the smash cut to the credits
I liked the R rated version better than the NR(rape to escape) version. That whole scene killed it for me. It was so much better when he murdered the cast of The Devil’s Rejects to escape…
My only issue with this movie is the theme being used in weird parts and then not using the alternate ending where Michael is shot up. Outside of that, it's a great Halloween movie. Great new take.
It’s actually ties for my third favourite Halloween film along with H20. My second favourite is the original and number 1 for me is Halloween 3: Season Of The Witch, you have to review it before the Franchise ranking Chris, or I’ll put some dirt in your eye!

And I do prefer that as well , I just also find appreciation on this version too.
Yeah i see that.
:3
I feel the same.
:3
Thanks for watching man! Really means a lot!

He cut off pieces of the dog's meat 🥓🥓🥓 😂😂😂😂 and ate it
I actually realllllllllly liked this movie. I grew up watching this too. Don't get me wrong the original is a classic but this is such a good realistic take. This was the way to go!
The best thing about Zombie’s take on Myers is that it’s HIS take so HIS take on the character is not WRONG 🙂
OK the first one I could live with but the second one what in the ever living fuck was that
@@jhtoxic7870 It’s not for everyone. But I like how it’s weird, eccentric and over the top.

@@cinematicgames exactly. People are mad that Myers guns and was extremely brutal and criticized that his face was often shown. The fact John did the same shit with his Halloween (2018) and now Halloween Kills💀 the double morals
This is my favourite Halloween film aswell as Halloween 4
I loved how brutal and horrid it got. It’s a more detailed look into Michaels life
100% the most artsy Halloween movie. Absolutely love it, even if the takes on the characters are very strange in comparison to the main franchise
This was my first Halloween movie as well growing up, I definitely enjoyed it more than the majority
This movie was crazy when it first came out. I really enjoyed it being a Halloween fan. Seeing a different story doesn’t hurt.
I really enjoyed it as a kid loved it even but the second one is a bit more hit or miss in many areas but overall i do love the portrayal of Michael he's like a bruting tank an unstoppable force of nature untamable and unreasonable
Yes. Straight killer. I love it. He was savage.
I actually love RZ's Michael and I do believe the hate comes from people misunderstanding his vision. His Michael was off the walls brutal and intimidating as all hell and one of my favorite visions for the character.
Yes so hyped for holloween kills It comes out on the 15 where I live me and my cousin are gonna go see it. Keep up the good work Chris

Chris is like the type of guy to see Spideman no way home and say WHERES ANDREW AND TOBY
Accurate
I'm so happy to hear you liked this movie too. Its probably my second favorite movie of the franchise because I love all the new additions made by Rob, I even like the remake scenes that most fans didn't. My only problem is the face that the theatrical cut of this one and the second are so hard to find and there are some major differences between em. If you've seen the different versions.. you know what scenes I'm talking about.
This is the film that introduced me to the slasher genre, so it’s personally my favorite of the Halloween franchise.
I totally understand that!

Hehe. Been a member for about a decade! I remember watching this film in 2012 on Halloween Night on SYFY. Immediately after, Halloween 2 (2009) started. Now, I had a game room in the basement, and when Michael was about to get Laurie, the power went out…😳😥😅😁
How old are you? Slasher genre has been around for a while. Didn't you see any of the Scream movies?
I owned the dvd as a kid, I remember replaying this movie plenty of times. One of my favorite remake slashers next to 2009 Jason.
Also, Loomis spent 15 years working with Michael and decided to write a book. Why in any case is that terrible? He realized what he was doing wasn't good and risked his life to help Michael in the end. That's the summary of all the Halloween movies. I'm pretty sure that's what Zombie was going for.
Rob Zombies reboot was actually good in a way. For one, not doing a shot by shot remake, but having the remake actually feel like a remake.
Agreed!
thats also how i feel for 2009 friday the 13th remake. a lot of people hate it because they changed things but if its going to be the exact same what is the point of doing it all over again?
@@qwerty-rrrr Just don't remake it. There's never been a good horror remake
The entire second half of the movie is basically a shot for shot remake until the finale. His shot by shot remake is rushed absolute garbage.
I mean Tyler mane was 6”9 playing as Michael Myers which was just insane to see
Yep this is the best Halloween by far..Im 43 and this is the scariest Michael Myers ever made..
@@D-Loccsta817Tx I definitely agree! This is the best out of all the Halloween movies to date. Being someone that prefers older movies, rob zombie outdid himself with the casting choices and brought something to the trilogy that just made these movies so dark and gritty which I really enjoyed

Been waiting for this one bro!!!! You’re amazing chris!
Thank you for watching, hope you enjoy!
Glad you like it too!
Should have been in both versions.
@@emmab8056 Nawl i prefer the rape scene 😂
@@emmab8056 I agree, I like the directors cut but the SA scene is very hard to watch and goes on for way too long.
Yes.

Never even knew this movie got hate at all it was one of my favorite holloween movies of all time
I agree 100%. I love this movie. It's the ultimate fan Halloween story. Everything I had wondered about was in this. The brutality is very good. Hard, fast and very realistic.
This is the only Halloween movie that genuinely scared me. Michael is absolutely terrifying. Loved it! 🎃

Nice to see someone defending this movie! I’ve been a fan since it came out, and I consider the original 1978 to be my favourite film.
I clicked on this video to have some noise in the back ground as I do some things around the house. But I love your narration and personality. I ended up sitting down and just watching it. Great job. I'll definitely check out more of your videos.
Halloween Kills is also by far my favorite

who else thinks chris needs to do a michael myers mask tier list? LOVE the work he’s been doing for us
I 100% enjoyed this movie on its own. Though I HATE the controversial scene that is in the Unrated Directors cut. It’s not only awful it’s also badly acted. (Michael doesn’t mind what’s going on but once they touch his mask is when he decides to act?)
I love all the other additional scenes!
What controversial scene, can you explain it?
@@wisconsinking323 it’s a rape scene

I am one of those few that actually really liked this take on Michael. I quite enjoyed the story and the "perfect storm" of events that took a kid and made a monster.
Maybe it's the comic fan in me that sees it as an elseworld/multiverse type thing.
I thought Daeg Faerch played young Michael pretty well, he could look quite normal but also kind of sinister.
