Actually, the Auditor, the Assessor, the Surgeon; all these new demons, are not Cenobites. Pinhead and the Cenobites are a faction of hell called the Order of the Gash which Pinhead leads, while the Auditor and his group are a separate faction called the Stygian Inquisition. I love all this new lore this movie brought in which is what saved it. The inclusion of heaven was a great twist; I mean, you knew they must be out there somewhere and they've finally made a move.
I understand that Scream really took the meta idea and made it mainstream; but Wes Craven did it a few years earlier with New Nightmare. Wish that movie would get more recognition for pushing the boundaries.

Her favourite 'Nightmare on ElmSt' film is the 'New Nightmare'(Which came out when I was just finishing Highschool! Haha). You have great taste Sir/Ma'am!

I loved your trilogy on Hellraiser. I actually wonder if the movies started getting better when the author gave more context. A 2nd novel "The Scarlett Gospels" was released in 2015.
Tbh, the last Hellraiser had the best idea since the 4th one, if only they had the budget and good direction and such. The annoyed Pinhead, and the process of going to hell. Interesting stuff. And actually a pretty damn good Pinhead.

i agree about what you said about the athestic and feel of the 1995- 2005 with films in this genre i heavily agree and it is my favourite of the athestic. its the best causes its gothic edgy and action like with its also being free and punky. The supernatural nature of it helped too
Im suprised they havent done more with Heaven. Like maybe they make a movie where in order to stop the puzzle box they find a Heaven ball puzzle where the Cenobites get into a Fight with like Angels or Cherubs etc
The blue filters in the 90-early 00s were actually super vibe, the music was over used yeah but the lighting and filter style is very atmospheric even for cheaper productions. it reminds me a lot of asian and j-horrors from the 80s up until the 00s. it was at least way better than that time in the late 00s-early 10s where everyone was obsessed with making everything either brown or gray with no color to fake grittiness..
The win definitely goes to Busta Rhymes in Halloween Resurrection for who did it better . His performance was more believable and his kick was pretty awesome.

Ya know Judgement may not have Doug Bradley or even a decent budget but someone who actually put real effect into making it a legit HR story really showed.
Halloween was supposed to be an anthology series in the beginning. Had fans known that instead of complained like we tend to do, I think more people would of realized it was a solid movie at the time. And had people accepted it, I feel like it would be a cool alternative universe to see what could of been like what stories we could of seen. Michael is my all time favorite horror villain, but I'm still very curious about the possibilities.
Carpenter didn't even want to do "Halloween II", he wanted the Michael Myers story to be one and done. Carpenter said he had to get shitfaced to write the screenplay of Halloween II; that's why there's weird stuff like Laurie Strode being The Shape's sister and why the pacing, story, etc. just feels so lackluster compared to the first.

There's good things about Halloween II but it feels like a slog to get through, kind of boring at times, and just not visually interesting compared to the first. I actually believe some of the later films, like 5 and 6, despite being pretty stupid films in a lot of ways, are more entertaining and visually interesting than II. But yes, I believe Season Of The Witch is a close second to the original film and Carpenter had the right idea of turning Halloween into a seasonal anthology series.
I remember seeing an interview Bradley did after Revelation came out. They approached him about reprising the role and he wanted to read the script. They told him no and basically said they didn't trust him. So he refused.

The other problem with Revelations was the Pinhead Jr. Cenobite. They should stand out as uniquely disfigured or mutilated. I get that there's been a lot of them, but they could've done literally anything, even just leaving the pins out and keeping the flesh cut-outs. Having a copy that isn't part of a pair just feels off.

When I watched Hellraiser Judgement I actually forgot it was a Hellraiser movie halfway through when they were focusing on the serial killer 😂. Pinhead was barely in this movie. I think The Accountant had more screen time than he did
I almost think that the off placed actions of Pin head in Hellworld only helped solidify that it was indeed not Pin Head, but the suggestions of angry father. When we do see the Hell Priest, he acts more to his character and allowing the others to take care of it. But he stole a Freddy line and tainted it so there's that.
When the girl said "Goodbye Asshole" and kicked him... He went the opposite direction of the kick lmao. He should have went left, but went right off the balcony lmao

1000% with you on Hellraiser: Revelations aside from 3 weeks and micro budget that movie was a fairly decent entry in the franchise … I honestly might put it in my top 5
It certainly had potential but the director didn't quite pull it off. The writer, Gary J. Tunnicliffe, who also directed Judgment, was supposed to direct Revelations but he was doing makeup-effects work on a much bigger movie and the studio wouldn't let him leave to direct Revelations.
I have never bothered to watch from Deader on, now upon seeing your breakdown of Hellworld, that to me feels WAY more like Hellraiser was tacked onto a script than Inferno or Hellseeker. It was basically I know what you did last Summer+Stay Alive with a Hellraiser skin thrown on it.....
Fun fact: The Auditor character in Judgement is actually played by the films director, I think he did a good job in the role
