I bought this same spoiler for my GLI, although it’s carbon fiber. Really a nice look. Getting the factory spoiler off along with that silicon adhesive was a workout. I tried just about everything on the silicon. I never really did find anything that worked that well. Just a lot of scrubbing!
Thanks so much for your comment. It is definitely possible. Just take your time. Also, watch my update video on the spoiler if you happen to be adding another spoiler with 3M stick on.
This is by far the best tutorial on how to do this on a GLI since you have to remove the factory spoiler. I did mine today and put the ECS spoiler on and unfortunately you can still see a little bit of the factory adhesive on the corners. Any advice on how to get that off without messing up the ECS spoiler that’s on it now? Also, does yours have any ‘give’ to it when you slightly try and move it up and down? Mine has a little...just wondering if that’s normal or not. Subscribed!!!
Thanks so much for your comment. I really appreciate it. Funny thing, my spoiler lasted all of two weeks on. The passenger side corner lifted after a week and wouldn’t stay down. I’ve since removed the ECS duckbill spoiler. It came off way too easy. I have reattached it with some Amazing Goop. Watch for that video in about a week and a half. If yours is on good, you could probably use the chemical I used and carefully scrape it off. Otherwise it might be best to remove it and start over like I did. Thanks again. And thanks for your subscription.
I know i am a little late to the party but great video. The heavy glue on mine is quite wide at both far edges. Were you able to actually remove enough to get back down to the paint as i have the carbon fibre version but at each end the glue residue extends to beyond where the new spoiler covers
Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, I scraped enough off so it was no longer visible with the new spoiler on. Lots of elbow grease and patience. Best of luck.
Thanks for your comment. Goo Gone will get rid of 3M adhesive, but it definitely takes more effort than the eraser wheel. Goo Gone will not remove the black permanent adhesive though. Thanks again.
Thanks for your comment. There is no perceivable difference in gas mileage, down force, weight, or speed. Its primary purpose is looks. I imagine the difference between a wing and a spoiler will depend on who you’re talking to. I suspect most people use them interchangeably. But I’m sure Google will give you a better answer. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for your comment. I am not sure what this retainer clip is. But if I search the ECS site, a metal clip comes up with “teeth”. Is that what you’re referring to? This would not aid with this spoiler. This would be for clip on parts, not adhesive. I hope that helps. Thanks again.
Thanks so much for your comment. I added the link to the description of this video. I am absolutely thrilled with the spoiler still. Just for looks and am very happy I did it. It has held up well. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for asking. It’s been great. It still has the same gloss finish as new. I wax it when I do the rest of the car. It’s holding on great and I would do it again for sure. Highly recommended. Thanks again for your question.
@seanmcbroom6775 This is great! Thanks so much for your comment. I was quite positive it would fit but at the time the question was asked, ECS showed it as not fitting. They have now updated the listing. Thanks again for pointing this out.
My apologies. I must have missed your comment. I don’t think it’s feasible that I come do this for you. I’m sure a local body shop could easily handle it though. Thanks for your comment.

Yeah, I spent hours on it as it was. Thanks so much for your comment.
i tried taking my oem spoiler off my gli but got no where so i thought it was almost impossible. this has given me hope so ill try it again
Thanks so much for your comment. It is definitely possible. Just take your time.

@@UrAvgRider i actually got it off, new one installed :)
Great news. 👍👍

SUPER LATE! But my spoiler came in today for my 7.5 GLI. Will update on how easy the install is!
Thanks for letting me know and thanks for your comment. Keep us posted.

Awesome tutorial. Would this spoiler look weird without first installing lowering springs?
Thanks for your comment. My car is not lowered. I have more pics on Instagram. Thanks again.
Goo gone is a good way to get rid of the glue also

@@UrAvgRider oh I see… that makes sense !
Could you tell me if this will fit the NON gli jetta, i assume its the same underneath the factory lip
Yes. Fits the standard Jetta. All without the hassle of having to remove the silly factory lip. 👍 Thanks for your comment.
@@UrAvgRider is there any other exterior parts for the 2024 Jetta. This is all I can find
@MangoTango7 I’ve seen more exterior parts for the standard Jetta than for the GLI (MK7 era).
Does this affect gas mileage??? Thanks what the difference between a spoiler and a wing?

I saw that ECS has a retainer clip that helps seal the spoiler more, would you recommend that? As I know with many reviews people say these fall off
Thanks so much for your comment.

do you happen to have the link to the spoiler i found one but not sure if its the same one

Getting ready to install this. Due you still recommend the automotive amazing goop?
I absolutely recommend the Goop. As long as you want it to be permanent. Thanks so much for your comment.
Hello! Just wondering after 2 years do you still Recommend this ECS spoiler? Is the build quality good?
Thank you so much for asking. It’s been great. It still has the same gloss finish as new. I wax it when I do the rest of the car. It’s holding on great and I would do it again for sure. Highly recommended. Thanks again for your question.
Will this fit the 2023 vw Jetta autobahn gli 2.0t
Unfortunately, it appears it does not fit the 22+ GLIs. Thanks for your comment.
@@UrAvgRideryes it will fit. i just put one on my 22 gli autobahn

Hello
By any chance, do you have a 2023 vw jetta Gli spoiler, for sale ?
Sorry, I do not. Thanks for your comment.
Ok where you located??? Can you do my GLI!!! California lol 💴
