I have a 2006 with the diesel engine. Currently has 533,000 miles on it and it is still more reliable than any car I've ever owned. Would take it cross country in a heartbeat. AC blows ice cold for the summer, and the heat and heated seats work amazing in the winter. Amazing car, you drive this car and then drive a comparable Toyota Corolla or Civic from the same year, and the Jetta feels like a luxury car compared to them.
One feature that you missed and a lot of ppl dont know about is when you first unlock and open the driver door...you activate the fuel pump....without turning on the ignition
@@louis5555gmail It takes less cranks to turn over the engine if you haven't turned it on in a while. My Dodge only starts the fuel pump when key is in "On" position. I now do it every time before starting but before it would take a few cranks to get it going.
You missed the automatic window up down with the key lock. If your windows are down and your outside your car you can turn the key on the door lock clockwise and hold it to roll the windows down and counter clockwise to roll them up…your welcome.

wandry, I have had a few issues with my 2009 Jetta: ABS not working, key stuck in the ignition, plastic door cover peeling off. Other than that the car drives will with the 2.5L engine with manual transmission. The engine is so good. I do have to add a pint of oil like once a month though.
Im 67. Bought my first Volkswagen 2 months ago. 2012 Jetta 2.5 with 150k miles. Totally impressed with it even though my cousin who owns a car repair shop recommended to not buy it due to high repair costs.. I love this car.
@@louis5555gmail It doesn't stop completely, it goes into "interval mode", meaning it goes every few seconds, depending on how you set it like the first position on the wind shield wiper
I’m so glad I came across this video. I have an 09 with 145k miles. I don’t drive it everyday or very far. Currently I have several lights on on my dash. Now I know how to use the aux & hopefully get my Echo Auto set up!!
I didn't know of a few of these on my 2010 jetta. Always wondered why there was a vent in the glove box. Didn't know about rolling the windows down with the key fob! My Jetta came with some L shaped plastic things in a plastic sleeve and one day I opened them and they have Velcro on one side so that I can support things placed in the trunk so they don't roll all over. Now I'll also use the hook!
If you live in the northern part of the north-east (Maine) another neat "feature" of that glove box vent is: If you leave that glovebox vent open, it will 100% have mice in the car in winter. I don't know why that one friggin' vent makes mice able to access every part of the car, but it does. Close it and no mice. Regardless, Use Peppermint oil to completely rid any small space of mice. I digress. I wanted to share another pretty friggin' awesome feature of almost every single VW MK's - Steering wheel telescope and tilt, standard. It makes a huge difference in your Fahrvergnügen . :)
Most MK 5 models had a feature that you could not only recline the front passenger seat back, but also recline it forward completely flat for more space to haul very long items. I was able to do that with my 2008 MK 5.
The coolest thing is open or close all windows with either holding the key or the remote(if enabled). The sunroof/moonroof does not open with the function, but it will close with the close.
Thanks for sharing. Didn't even realize I had a key lock cylinder in the driver's side door, good to know. Where is the fuse for the power windows, power mirrors, & interior power door locks? Thanks again.
My jetta came with this cool feature where the previous owner ripped out the "buttons" on the panic button for the keys. After about a couple years of owning the car I think there is lint or something stuck on one of the sensors because I've had to take the batteries out of my keys to prevent the alarm from going off constantly. Could be something else but this is what I chalked my alarm going off constantly if I touch my keys up to, hasn't happened since I removed the battery from my keys
If you live where it snows, you can shut the engine off, hit the mist on the wipers and they’ll stop in the full up position. This allows you to clean the snow off your windshield without packing it down into the cowl. You can start the car and let it warm up and the wipers won’t go back down until you hit the mist or start to move.
I believe that's service mode for changing the wiper blades. Gives you room to lift the wipers since they won't clear the hood when they're down. Definitely helps in snowy weather too.
If you aren’t the first owner chances are someone took the glovebox off. Perhaps for the filter or for the blower motor and in doing so they probably disconnected the hose that routes cold air in there. Take the glovebox off and try to reconnect it
You can put all the windows up and down simultaneously by turning the key, holding and letting go. Right to lock and put them up, left to unlock and put them down. And you can pull out the key to your desired window height.
Turning the sunroof switch past the last setting and to open it 100% had my car almost 7 years before someone hopped I'm my passenger seat one day and did it I looked at them like they just discovered fire 😂😂😂
Dont forget the safety feature on the window! If you're closing the window and your hand or bodypart is in the window, the window will hit it and the start to open back up

Those features still don't make up for the funky electrical issues. I received an 08 jetta from my Mom 2 years ago with only 27,000 original miles on it and I've had nothing, but weird electrical things occur. It started with a funky tick that comes from the passenger glove box area, then the headlights went out one after the other, then it stopped beeping when locking, then the rear drivers door wouldn't open from the outside and the window stopped too, then it opened again, but still won't lock and no window, the passenger defrost mirror blew out so I had a grey mirror, till I found a stick on mirror for $10. So currently still no beep, still no locked rear door oh and I just replaced another headlight. Anyone else this lucky?
I have that exact issue with the rear driver door not opening. It locks and stays locked. My driver front window won't come down either. But all in all I love my Lil funk trap 🤣🥰
Headlights go out for a number of reasons. Cold, humidity or a combination and I would check fuses. Disconnect your battery before doing the following. The lack of beeping is probably a blown fuse. There are 2 fuse boxes, one in the engine bay and one on the driver side when you open the door right in the dash itself (use your key to pop off the panel). Cannot recall where every fuse is exactly. Your odd clicking noise in the glovebox is probably a failed little motor ($20 USD) for the vent that controls in cabin flow or from outside flow. Change the cabin air filter while in there. Defrost mirror is either your unit failed and needs replacement ($30 ~ $60 USD or so on Amazon) or another fuse. The only thing that truly is defect on this car is your failed locks. I have the same issue everything else is wear and tear. Run LIQUI MOLY 5W-40 MOLYGEN for your engine oil and change out the transmission oil to Liqui Moly ATF 1200 as this oil is not lifetime and should be changed every 80,000 miles or so. Also, wait till the engine is warmed up before gassing it and ensure you do get it over 2000 rpms when you do here and there. The engine is from the Audi TT line and it likes to go. It will build up soot if you idle it and cruise it always under 3000 rpms. If you get this car to high miles (mine is 172,000mi) don't forget a new fuel filter, a solenoid valve (releases gases from the gas tank and is easily found on Amazon and I would stay far away from Ebay for this part) and a gas cap for proper fuel economy. If you commute a lot in the dark purchase led fogs and put them into your highbeams (make sure you get some under 6000 lumens as to not blind others) and replace the rear sway to aftermarket (do NOT forget locknuts). I recommend Nokian WR G4 tires if you're looking for serious grip. Lastly note the American fuel has lower standards of rating (our premium is not the same quality as European premium). I do not run unleaded, only premium 92/93 and I add 32oz of Marvel MM13R Mystery Oil every few months on a fill up here and there ($30 or so for a gallon on Amazon). Careful with such a setup with fresh tires, which are broken in after 1000 miles or so and such work will make you put torque down quite well.

I bought an 06 jetta, boy am I ever sorry. Money pitt..
I have that exact issue with the rear driver door not opening. It locks and stays locked. My driver front window won't come down either. But all in all I love my Lil funk trap 🤣🥰
mine only beeps every other time. if i lock my doors with the fob then unlock them to get in, my alarm goes off. every. time.
Mine have similar issues
