Olá amiga, bom dia!!! O ano passado choveu muito por esta altura do ano mas este outono está a ser pior, chuva muito forte e então, do vento nem se fala. Ontem, meu pessegueiro abanou tanto com o vento que até receei que partisse. Ainda não trouxe nenhumas orquídeas para casa, ainda não faz assim tanto frio. Pelo menos isso. Parece que vem aí mais chuva este fim de semana, espero corra tudo bem por aí. Beijinhos e votos de um ótimo dia 😘😘😘

Yes, maybe tortile needs a harsher winter stress, I will try that this year. For the time being, although windy and rainy we are still having nice temperatures, days with 20 C and nights from 15 to 18 C. The storms we have been having are tropical type, as it seems. Very often I hear that orchids teach us patience but I am not more patient yet. But this hobby has taught me to be prepared to take a step back when least expected. Maybe more stubborn because I think I am right 🤪 but, one thing I can say is, that i done with a lot of the nonsense this time of year. Especially my tolumnias. Patience is not what made me treat them under close supervision for 2 years, it was sheer stubbornness and well, that didn't work either 😅 we have sunshine today, but its going to get really cold towards the end of the week. It is far too early to be getting this cold, soooooo 🥹 😘

Ok, good to know that victoriae-reginae grows in less sun and without a dry rest. I hope yours will bounce back! Planting them on a tree is obviously the ideal thing to do and I bet it will look so goo when they're in bloom!
Victoria reginae is one I might never plant on the tree but you are right, it would look awesome especially when in bloom. It seems to be recovering, there is something growing from one of the nodes. I hope it is a new cane. It is very thin and small yet, I hope it continues to grow 🤞🤞🤞☺️❤️

You have a such nice Dendrobium collection. So many different ones. I only have 2 Dendrobium phalaenopsis types but not doing too well. I think I'm not giving the indoor one enough high light... Your Dendrobium parishii is so cute and compact.🤩What do you think is your favorite genera of orchids?
Thank you so much for being here 💖 At one time I had several Dendrobium Phalaenopsis but they did not do well for me. They need the warmth I don't have and so they had large canes but the blooms aborted or did not bloom at all. The only warm loving Dendrobium I have is hibiki. The others are all good to grow outdoors. My favourite genus is Cattleya, especially former Sophronitis which are cool growers and miniatures but I have only a few. I hope I can get more but they are not easy to get locally and I have not been very lucky when I order online. Have a wonderful day and happy growing 💖🎃💖🎃
Not bad how you can grow growing of these winter resters. Those that I grow, which aren't that many, being 3 different nobile varieties of the species and victoria-reginae, the mostly stay outside sheltered during winter with little watering's and away from heavy, stormy winds. Yes, we are getting more and more of these to, even tornado's are starting to come more and more to my more northern European region. The lowest temperature I let mine get to is 4 to 6°C. Then they are kept dry until temperatures go above 8° again. Because they need cold winter temperatures I don't grow many anymore because the flowers often come in late winter before I can really enjoy them. It's a pity because I really love all Dendrobiums.

Europe is being hit by so many tropical storms these days, sign of times 😬 We cannot have them all and luckily there are many types of Dendrobium, we can choose from and that are adapted to our conditions. Muito obrigada querida Lu 🙏💖 Já experimentei o meu aggregatum montado tal como o jenkinsii mas não deu certo. Alias, ele estava montado no ano passado e mais uma vez parecia não ter crescido nada, pelo que eu falei para ele: "já chega, estou cansada de te ver a desperdiçar o meu tempo e ocupando espaço". Assim, eu ia deitar no lixo quando, ao retirar da plaquinha, eu vi que ele tinha um pseudobulbo crescendo para trás, para dentro da plaquinha 😝 Ele é mesmo do contra 😬 Foi por isso que voltei a colocar no vasinho 🤣
