  • Come hang out with us in our barn as we shear our sheep! This was our very first-time shearing sheep, and it was quite an experience! The first one took over an hour and we were down to roughly 20 minutes by the seventh (and last) one.
We have a small flock of Finnsheep that we are raising with a focus on fiber. Finnsheep make an excellent fiber sheep with a lustrous, soft, and finely crimped fleece.
I have no idea when our first batch of yarn will be ready. The timing largely depends on how long the mill takes. As soon as it is available, I will send out an email to our newsletter subscribers. You can sign up via the link below:

It’s so wonderful that you and your family get to have these amazing opportunities. I have to admit I wish Id had the courage to do what you’re doing.
Your husband is doing an amazing job shearing!!
I haven’t spun in many years but I can’t wait to find a fleece to spin.
    Keep sharing your lovely videos.

We just purchased 2 Finn sheep… going to the Wisconsin sheep and wool fest gets you in trouble… lol. These are awesome little animals.

All those spots! One of the reasons I’m a hair sheep fan is if they have flashy colors they are on display for the majority of the year vs being hidden under all that fleece.
Love how the whole family is around for this activity and your husband did a wonderful job. Electric shears terrify me. I just know I’d slice mine up ugh

Check out how they shear alpaca... they tie their legs out and lay them down. We've been shearing our sheep that way and it's way easier and the sheep just lay there so they don't tire from standing. Plus it's easier to get them everywhere

Lanolin weighs more than you think. It’s possible that the first was heavier because they produced more lanolin.

Thank you for sharing. I have three new Finn sheeps, and I wonder when I Will shear them. I have two lambs of three months old and their mother. Once a year is a good idea ? What do you think ?

I thought your Finn sheep is very calm, and I thought you were doing to cut the sheep, really nice, it's always hard. When I had to cut my sheep even for the first time, I cut them with a sheep scissors, they didn't look very nice. I have had a couple of years without sheep, but just bought 3 merino sheep and 1 finnsheep again and then a Finn ram. So now I'm going again. This is Goggel Translat, because I come from Denmark and my English is not so good.
