Wandering around chasing the carts of food is how it's done in Hong Kong. Some older women even walk into the kitchen to get dim sum items. You may also want to check out Queen's for Cantonese style dim sum. Brooklyn has a lot of mainland style restaurants with dim sum and unusual menu choices. The Bronx also has great mainland Chinese food options. But bring someone who speaks the Fuzhou dialect (or Fujianese dialect), since very few speak Mandarin or Cantonese.
It's great that some Chinatown are still around. We will visit Vancouver and NYC again in Summer of 2022. 😀
Very good point about the servers ...yes indeed 😆. It looks like in most cities, all the great Chinese restaurants have moved out of Chinatown and into other areas. I believe for New York, it's Flushings and here in Vancouver, it'll be in Richmond.

Hi Dick, it's very sad to say that most of the places shown on the video has closed down. I think all the restaurant have gradually moved to Flushing... though I suspect the high rents is also major factor.
Oh, there were a few. I was not too fond of the one at Planet Hollywood or the one at treasure Island in Vegas. Even though, I still miss them as they are closed at this moment.
Tim Lee, since early COVID-19 until now, I have hidden inside the home. I will be crazy soon LoL. Hopefully vaccines will work well to eradicate the virus so things will be back to normal soon. Ate there before. You should try Chinatown Flushing and Brooklyn for Chinese cuisines. Many vendors from Chinatown Manhattan many had moved from. Please stay safe & well.
Hi Tim, I really don't like the feeling of sharing a table with others, it's just not for me. Consideration should be made to have smaller size tables for 2. at these restaurants. For me, its a lack of respect by restaurant owners to have such a, take it or leave it attitude. What I do most of the time, is to wait after the restaurant's peak hours to have my meal peacefully. Yes its a friendly way to meet and chat with strangers however, it's not a place to do so, its not a social club. Would you like to share your hotel room with strangers? Nice visit to NYC's Chinatown.
Thanks Appolo P :-) Yeah, it's certainly a different experience...we were doing the touristy thing and kinda went with the flow... definitely not a place to choose of the relaxing meal eaten in peace. Really enjoyed the different places though. Hope you're keeping well!

Thanks again Jade! Yeah, doesn't it feel weird to look back at a time where people don't need to wear masks and can interact with each other freely? Hoping we all can plan that trip soon 🙂
You and Lois is like Batman and robbin
Thanks Vincent 🙂. I must say, that is one of the most unique analogies I've heard 😆. All the best to you and stay well 🙂
is chinatown food vanishing due to high rents, changing food tastes, a shift away from the traditional to a fusion with mexican food?
Hi Dick, it's very sad to say that most of the places shown on the video has closed down. I think all the restaurant have gradually moved to Flushing... though I suspect the high rents is also major factor.
Wow Thai tea ice cream
That was definitely a must try :-)
I forgot what crowds were like!
Me too....😉
estn tuyet v thank
they should ask if customers want shared table before deciding.. maybe that is how they hook you in and cannot say no
LoL, I think it's pretty common place where they'll put you at a shared table. It's actually not too bad :-) Take care!
4:10 better right off the fryer anyways. When they walk around with it, it gets cold.
I agreed! Nothing better than fresh out of the fryer 😋
Have you had any dish or buffet you didn't like and would not recommend?
Oh, there were a few. I was not too fond of the one at Planet Hollywood or the one at treasure Island in Vegas. Even though, I still miss them as they are closed at this moment.
Next go time go to Flushing, Queens. Less touristy.
Thanks for the suggestion Tony! ...and definitely looking forward to "the next time". Take care :-)
Sadly Jing Fong's banquet room isn't long for this world. So sad. So many memories there growing up in Chinatown.
Oh no! Hopefully restaurant is still hanging in there 😮
I can eat dim sum all day long. 💕
Me too😋
So long Jing Fong, because of covid the restaurant had to close down
Really sad to hear that! I'm also sad to learn that most of the places visited in this video had closed since the visit.
Alcohol cart...never heard of, in a dim sum joint...lol!
Hi Lihi, it was a first time for me too seeing an alcohol beverage cart... Nice idea though 😉
What happened to your friend, I thought she was going to be with you at that restaurant as well
He mentioned that Louis was “dim summed out.” so she stayed home (hotel?).
Yeah, looks like Lois will need to plan another trip, which would not be a bad thing when we can all travel again 🙂
Tim you are a real gentleman to ladies really I’m impressed every time , I need a man alike in my life 😚luv luv luv dim sum yum yam 😝
Thank you so much!... Just having some fun during this trip, and it was great to meet and interact with everyone there 🙂
Okiedokie let's eat 🍴
...sounds like a plan :-D
The evening Dim Sum looks expensive.
don't know when this clip been recorded. I know ALL restaurants in NYC open only for take out not to eat in.
Hey Tony, yeah this was a while ago right before the pandemic. it is amazing how things have changed but hopefully will be back to normal soon 🙂
@@LehighAcres33936 thank you for the great recommendation and hope you stay physically and mentally healthy 🙂. It's tough but we'll get there 🙂
Belia1313: Greetings and Salutations Tim 😊🍜🥮🍢🍤🧆🍣🍛🍚🥡🥠🥣🍝
Greetings to you to Bella😃
In LA we have Dim Dum restaurants twice that size : )
You know, in hindsight, we have larger places here as well in Vancouver... I guess space is at a premium there.
@@TimLeeLetsGo I'm moving to Vancouver man, and I'm crashing at your place till I find a place.
