They should choose a name that MEANS that, not “Coloured”. That name sounds backwards af. 👎 They can EASILY choose a South African name that represents cultural mix instead of Coloured. @@kingofhearts1072 I agree, that's why I typically say "so-called Coloureds". Not every member of that community uses that term. Some refer to themselves as Khoisan others a Griqua or Malay or one of various other identities under that larger umbrella term.
@@kingofhearts1072 My question is why is it such a big deal? Why is it such a big deal to you or to black people? Because the only people who have an issue with it are black people and it literally doesn't affect any black person in SA? So why are people like you so butthurt over it? Clearly, it doesn't affect coloured people and they happily embrace it after reclaiming it. You're cringing over a demographic of people that gave the name a new meaning and purpose. The problem here is not Coloured people, it's you not being able to comprehend why they choose to be who they are. Some people aren't mentally weak to react to names because once it becomes derogatory to you, then it becomes your weakness, and being reactionary to a white man calling you a certain word is like you accepting that he just yanked the chain around your neck. They will have no power over it once you reclaim it and repurpose it. Your approach is very supercilious and skewed, start asking different questions and researching why I it isn't the way you expect it to be.

South Afrika is a beautiful and complex place. As Caribbean born man that had dreadlocks when I visited Jo Burg and Cape town I was shocked to see so many Rastafarian men and women there. They bigged me up continuously where ever I went, It was like they knew this brother wasn't from here but he is one of us. I found the Division between Blacks and Cape Colored baffling coming from western society where the 1 drop rule seemingly applies. I was educated by a black South African as to the racial hierarchy , his direct quote ( on top are the whites, then Indians, then Coloreds , then the DOGS, than the blacks ). So that makes the colored people feel as though they are in place in society than the black Africans . As Bob Marley said BRAINWASH EDUCATION ! GREAT JOB WITH VIDEOS KING...... Keep up the good works !
You were brainwashed by the lies ... you ask Many black South Africans would rather have apartheid than this current government. You know more people have died under the ANC government from murder than under the apartheid government. I am glad apartheid is over but today we have reverse apartheid and everyone is affected even black people
It was like that. To them being called black will be like going to the lower class. I don't think we should force people to associate with us. The coloureds should be allowed to be proud of who they are. We blacks just need to love ourselves and stop focusing on ppl who don't want to associate with us.

@Ali-7676 I am a Black American in America the Black culture in Texas and speech and food is very unique and distinctive of the black culture in Louisiana, vs Arkansas, via the Carolinas , Baltimore, Boston New Jersey and a twilight from New York. so culturally, we speak different , cuisine is represented for the region. so forgive me if I am confused to what point you are trying to make other than you can call me anything just don't call me Black because in your culture Black is the lowest

Facts! It is amazing that most people today still think the cradle of humanity is in East Africa. Human remains have been found in SA, which are much older than "Lucy" in East Africa. SA is the cradle of humanity. So all human beings alive today have ancestry from there.
Bruh, you on a cliff standing on brittle shale rock. Hey, still went even though you had concerns. Much respect! Fantastic video clarity in HD. It really makes the watching experience enjoyable.
What hurts the most when watching this video is that the majority of black and coloured people still live in squalor in their own country. They don't have land, they have been stripped of their African and traditional dignity and it doesn't look like their issues will ever be addressed. Watching from Swaziland.
You are more than welcome Daphne and yeah you may be but chances are you will not be regarded coloured. It will take a little while to explain why we're called coloured and why some mixed race are not
The other thing you might find interesting is "Coloured" people are not only of South Africa but are found all over Southern Africa in mainly isolated communities that have greatly reduced in size over the years (mainly due to migration abroad)some are descendents of earlier Coloured migrants mainly from the coast of South Africa ( of mixed Indonesian, Malay, Indian, European, Bantu, Khoisan and even Ethiopian ancestry) and others are descendants of offspring from interacial relationships (predominantly white colonial male masters and black bantu female servants or concubines). Many coloured people anywhere in Southern Africa generally are a distinct group and will tend to have similarities in their accents. A Coloured person from Malawi would blend fairly easy into a Coloured community in South Africa and vice versa.
There are no Coloured people in Malawi. There was no Apartheid in Nyasaland. Only Namibia (part of Apartheid South Africa) and Rhodesia which had its form Apartheid although not called as such. There is no Ethiopian ancestory among Coloureds. There is Madagascar (Malagasy) ancestory.
@@ohlangeni you don't know much about the history of Southern Africa, there are many coloured in Malawi. I’m América they tell you all these things about Africa, and it’s NOTHING like the experience, Africa is INCREDIBLE!! The Europeans know, why they flock there for the beauty and the people. And I mean in terms of tourism NOT history! The travel do places Américans would never, like Rwanda (cleanest city in the WORLD), yet, they teach us alll the negatives of Africa. I could go one and on. But what an experience can’t WAIT to go back!
I had the same takeaways having visited Tanzania and Kenya! I now need to visit SA!
I want visit Durban as an indian guyanese myself.
You’re “Amèrica” ? We don’t pronounce america that way in the states. Where are you originally from?

Coloureds are not simply mixed from Black and whites. They have much more complex ancestries, including Khoisan and Asian (Malay / Indonesian).
This I dint know
@@Czechineffect The mix can vary between every coloured person, you'll see some are fairer than others, some have curly hair some have straight hair and some are even ginger. Coloureds are a melting pot of Asian, African, and European...
They should choose a name that MEANS that, not “Coloured”. That name sounds backwards af. 👎
They can EASILY choose a South African name that represents cultural mix instead of Coloured. Some Whyte Afrikaner made that up, sounds like they’re still in the 1950-60’s.
Super cringe 🤦🏽♂️
I’m sure they can say we are “Gemeng” people or something.
Thank you for posting this video. You guys have answered my question. I am half black and white and when I went to Australia, I was in Perth and Fremantle and people would ask me. Am I from South Africa and I kept telling them no I’m not. I’m from America and now looking at this video you guys have answered the question. Thank you. These people look like me. If this makes any sense I hope because I’m talking into my phone but I just want to say thank you for this video and I know this is about four months old thank you over here on the big island of Hawaii.
Of course Perth is a lot closer to South Africa than it is to America.
And how do you identity urself
Wow they put dogs ahead of black humans unbelievable
You were brainwashed by the lies ... you ask Many black South Africans would rather have apartheid than this current government. You know more people have died under the ANC government from murder than under the apartheid government. I am glad apartheid is over but today we have reverse apartheid and everyone is affected even black people
As a Coloured born and bred in Cape Town, you are humbly talking kak.
YOu're talking nonsense
It was like that. To them being called black will be like going to the lower class. I don't think we should force people to associate with us. The coloureds should be allowed to be proud of who they are. We blacks just need to love ourselves and stop focusing on ppl who don't want to associate with us.
I was really laughing so hard when you were on the side of that mountain. No way in hell I would have went. Lolololol You’re brave. That was so funny. Thanks for the up close and personal South African village.
As a child born on an island in the Caribbean, never let them tell you how beautiful things are when you can see it for yourself...Jah guide us.
The Protea is a South African national flower found only in Cape Town or Western Cape as you would say...it symbolizes diversity and courage...our national Cricket 🏏 team is named after the flower... If you unfamiliar with the sport please feel free to look it up
Im familiar with it.thanks for info
this been more fun..the company with the guys is amazing,,u gota real good experience

Wow, The
Seal Island in South Africa. That's the prime hunting ground for the great white shark. Where the Great white sharks actually breached the water like dolphins to catch the Seals.
You are one bold man. I would have not taken that journey down that cliff. That was absolutely insane. I was getting all kinds of anxiety watching you do that.
imagine how I felt
@@Czechineffect You're right...Lol!!! Thank God you made it back up safely.
But honestly that's a valid Cape Town experience. You deserve respect.

Bro funny as fuck 😂 " People died here? thats not the right thing to tell me right now my G" Glad you still with us my guy
Right dude is tripping
People in the comments making it unnecessarily complicated. Yes Coloured and Mixed IS the same thing genetically, but NOT the same thing socially. Coloured People in the South African context are those mixed race people who have developed a distinct cultural and ethnic identity. End of discussion.

I have been to one of those coloured neighborhoods in Cape Town back in 2018 and remembered the stares i was getting. Yes colorism is alive and flourishing in Cape Town. Had a great time with a special lady in her neighborhood and kept it moving.... 😂 ❤😊

Which is why we find it weird when we see comments by AA proudly telling other AA that they will be classified coloured when they come to SA. Even worse are AA who come to SA and proudly announce that they are coloured here. Why would AA affirm a classification created by the apartheid system to separate black people ?
It's the first time I've seen this part of the cape. Beautiful people and view.

Some of our earliest ancestors lived in the caves of South Africa millions of years ago!
Yeah... when I saw that I was like: Mental note to self. Don't be standing on brittle shale rock cliffs in Cape Town. 🤣🤣
This is one of your top 10 videos of all time very informative showed alot that I did not know about South Africa thank you

Yessir!! His Tour guide really did put in work to take him to this places
What hurts the most when watching this video is that the majority of black and coloured people still live in squalor in their own country. They don't have land, they have been stripped of their African and traditional dignity and it doesn't look like their issues will ever be addressed.
Watching from Swaziland.

Not "female servants or concubines". A more accurate description is slaves/ sex slaves. Slavery existed in South Africa until 1834.
I wish more coloureds can know this fact.
the same way that african americans have euro dna@@finn3102
There are no Coloured people in Malawi. There was no Apartheid in Nyasaland. Only Namibia (part of Apartheid South Africa) and Rhodesia which had its form Apartheid although not called as such.
There is no Ethiopian ancestory among Coloureds. There is Madagascar (Malagasy) ancestory.
@@ohlangeni you don't know much about the history of Southern Africa, there are many coloured in Malawi. Peter Abrams the famous coloured South African writer who wrote books such as Mine Boy had one of his grandparents from Ethiopia and there are many coloureds in South Africa with that ancestry. Yes many have Malay ancestry, together with Khoisan and European but a few do have Horn of Africa ancestry.

The raiycist apartheid Whyte Afrikaners created that “Coloured” mix as a buffer class, and unfortunately our mixed bro’s & sisters don’t know/understand that divide & conquer strategy. They(Üeropean colonizers)do that everywhere they go. Then you get colorism and division that also comes with it.
They’re using that name “Coloured” that raiycist Whyte Afrikaner created and don’t know the negative dynamics & logistics about it.
It’s their choice but I believe they should create their OWN name for their community, not some schitt some raiycist Afrikaners made up in order to keep them separated from their not-as mixed South African bros & sis’s.
Mixed South African Brother’s & Sisters, create your OWN name not based off of your skin tone or anything some Whyte Afrikaners want to name you. Y’all are brainwashed using such names, stay united with the rest of your your Black African people, whether you are mixed or not.
Stop using that name “Coloured” create your own name that’s more meaningful, and let other folks like Arabs, Asians, or other POC use that “Coloured” moniker/identity.

WOW!!! Brave nigga, I heard about this channel from a homeboy in Kingston while in Toluca Lake, CA. I would really respect this Czech content guy if he can one day go to Westbury(West of Johannesburg) day or night and record that "no-go-zone" from an American perspective since most media people are reluctant to film there and police are afraid to patrol the pave brick streets. I travelled the entire blue line while in LA and not one hood can compare to Westbury here in Johannesburg yet the culture is very similar. If you want to see a coloured neighbourhood, go to Westbury bro. South Africans will appreciate that since Sophiatown is the oldest lokasie(hood).
