32 years old and had this my whole life. If you're young and have this, start doing this asap. I never thought my rib flare was anything but an aesthetic thing, but, it'll make it waaaay harder for you to have proper posture, and proper form for workouts. Thank you for making this. I’ve always been self conscious about mine. My left rib is flared and assumed it was permanent but the tight back muscles make sense in causing this.

I had no idea about rib flare. For years I would crack my own back by using my hands behind my back, causing rib flare. That with anterior pelvic tilt is just asking for lower back pains. Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much, i’ve had scoliosis spinal fusion surgery earlier this year and I thought it would also fix my rib protrusion but it didn’t. I’m a powerlifter who has an uneven bar placement on my back. It’s been causing some golfer’s elbow on my left because my right shoulder is always “higher” than my left, which means more weight of the bar is sitting on my left side, left hand, and, most crucially, left elbow. I recently learned my rib cage is “misaligned.” I’m thinking this might be the fix. Will give it a go. Thanks!!
thanks for the video for this. Body dysmorphia is real and recently noticed my left rib being pushed out more. thankfully I just started weight training so by the end goal I should have this mitigated. ty for video
I clicked so fast on the video my mouse almost left a burn mark on the mousepad before I even read the title. Anyway thank you for this video cuz I actually needed it😭🙏
Thanks for this video, can’t wait to try it out! I have a couple of questions, for how long should you do this? Is it only a 30 sec single set per side after a workout or more? Also, after how long should I expect to see more permanent results? I know on the first days the flares just pop back to normal after some minutes.
Nice. I have flare on my right side due to surgery to remove a chunk of my right pec minor years ago. I had something akin to thoracic outlet syndrome and the surgery caused a release.... forward rotation and a drop of the rib cage on the right side with the inverse on the left. The focus has been strengthening my right pec minor while stretching the left pec minor in an effort to partially reverse the surgery. I'll try this. Thank you.
Thanks man, I was attacked by my senile handicap uncle this past summer trying to get paid and man my ribs bother me ever since. I appreciate this video like crazy‼️‼️
I’ve watched a hundred videos on rib flare that say”simple fix for rib flare” but this one actually is simple and seems to be working. If the goal is to extend the diaphragm capacity down into the abdominal area to bring the ribs back into better positioning I’ve been focusing mostly on maximum exhale and then intake breath is only what I need versus a big inhale. Am I correct in that assumption. I’ve always excelled at gulping in air but haven’t paid much attention to exhalation. Maybe that’s the reason I have a magnificent right rip flare?
This is so astoundingly educational and you know so much; part of it goes over my head. I’m in awe! Also I’m gonna try this with a pillow because I’m certain my one left rib isn’t broken but it sticks out and concerns me. Thought it’s due to my constantly-misaligned spine
Increasing frequency of normal functional movements will help your nervous system understand the proper way to move. Plus more blood flow will increase healing
@@Unknown-wo9ls you need to understand how your moving improperly, then do corrective exercises to help your nervous system understand the right way to move. Everything is muscle memory. It takes a lot of the same movement (frequency) to explain to your nervous system the right way to move. 👍
I do have mild scoliosis and also have rib flare. I do think, It is caused by scoliosis. I also have a bone flare in the middle under my chest. I am just 16😔
With unilateral rib flare is it safe to assume there is something going on with the contralateral hip? Or at the very least some sort of pelvic rotation? Or not necessarily
That’s a really good question. In my experience I have seen that a good amount but I don’t think it necessarily happens every time. Enter my political answer: it depends on the person and their experiences. People present with all kinds of twists and turns, so it just really depends. I hope that helps.
I found this video by accident while I had a weird pain in my rib. I tried this, and it popped back into place, the pain instantly GONE! Thank you so much 🙏
Does this fix my posture as well? Because rn my left rib is flaring out more than the right, and I think bc of that my left shoulder is stretching out further up than the right. I thought it might be scoliosis but whenever doctors looked at my spine they all said it was all fine
It can be a beginner exercise to address postural asymmetries like the one you mention. You may need to address the left shoulder's mobility, as the hiking up of it could be you trying to move "over" the limitation.

Assymetrical ribcage here. I'm gonna try out this exercise and if anyone's interested I'll update this comment in a while, couple weeks should be enough I guess?
Damn, man I’ve had a similar injury/situation. Any help from anyone would be AMAZING. I have a rib in that same specific location that feels like it’s slightly poking outwards. I can grab the tip of it (feels very pointy) and wiggle it around with a slight clicking sensation in the area. I’ve only noticed this after losing a lot of weight and running / exercising almost daily in this past year or 2. I can sometimes feel a tingling sensation in my back inbetween the shoulder blade and the spine area where all the ribs come to meet in the spine. I’ve always had a poor posture growing up, and I’m working on that every single day, so I thought it may be the cause for the rib and pain/discomfort. The little armpit area under your back shoulder blade, will hurt or I will feel some slight discomfort tingling for a moment. I’ve been doing ab/planking exercises to try and strengthen my core, but just don’t know how I can work on this specific issue of mine. To be honest I had thought it was a liver problem because that is the same area and you will sometimes experience the same type of symptoms. Thanks for anyone whom may read this and reach out with some different ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for making this. I’ve always been self conscious about mine. My left rib is flared and assumed it was permanent but the tight back muscles make sense in causing this.
I just figured out I have one sided rib flare after years of sporadic sharp pain depending on how I bent my body! Started after I had a baby. I'm so relieved to have a name for what was happening and to have found your video. I following your recommendation. Thank you!
i just tried it thinking nothing would happen bc i had this problem for over 3 years. my ribs look so much more even with just a few minutes holy shit thank you so much
It is working please give me the update
Just tried this excercise, and it's amazing, no words to describe it
Excellent video and great exercise. Thank you. I have very bound up ribs on both sides and found this very helpful.
It causes me a lot of pain at the bottom of my ribcage in back, so it is great to have a way to release it.
I suffer a lot of pain in these areas too.
My ribs and the muscles around my ribs and lower back go into serious spasms and cramps. I can't even try to explain how scary and painful this is. I wonder would these exercises help me?
Great to hear it was helpful! Definitely consider getting checked out by a professional if you are having pain. I am just a random dude on TH-cam lol. Take all this info with a grain of salt XD
I would contact a rehab professional if you're having that intense of pain.
I’ve only just discovered this at the age 40 , I always just accepted it as an abnormality growing up thanks and I will give it a try
Wow i didnt even know it was a name for this, all i knew was the more i did ab workouts it would happen more. It was painful and i didn't know what caused it, thank you.
I’d always thought this couldn’t be fixable and, without ever searching it, YT recommend me this. Thanks.
Been weightlifting and training bjj for about 2 1/2 years now and recently had a rib injury. Went to chiropractors and they did as much as they could ribs aren’t fractured btw I’ve been doing alot of research cause I was begging to think I might’ve had costo but this helped out a lot definitely will continue to do this for the rest of the month thank you I was beginning to think I might not be able to train again
Glad it helped. Getting those ribs to move can be very powerful.
bro, chiropractice is a scam
Hi, how is your progress with ribs? Did you fix flare?
@@domilion2008 yes I haven’t had issues with it since the recovery and I try to do this as much as I can on a daily basis after my workout routines it has helped my ribs a lot
No ideia how youtube found out about my ribs problem. Ill give it a try. Thank you sir
I didn’t know it could be this simple. I just ordered a foam roller so I’m excited to start. 🤞🏼
@@roundmossball so the foam roller I bought was actually too big to fit under my ribs. I tried using a towel rolled up. I never really saw results and eventually just stopped.
@@0Amour0Musique0 oh, and i was thinking of doing this
@@manojtripathi3112 other people are claiming they saw results so it’s still worth a try

Omg, what an amazingly random video. I always have been self conscience about this

I have a rib flare just like my grandpa, and everyone in the family thought it was genetics. I'm definitely trying this exercise out
Did it work?
What happened?
I noticed my ribs became flared after I had my lumbar fusion surgery and this video has helped a lot 👍
Bro thank you quick and straight to the point. Can you do uneven hips next? One side of my love handles stick out more an the other side. And I'm not even fat sub 14% (while adding 5% BF on the scale). I'll be honest with myself. Subscribed btw please continue to teach with exercise rather than cite studies for 10 minutes and then 2 minutes for the exercise.
I have a video on lateral pelvic tilt 👍🏼
th-cam.com/video/Nps1ZV4rRcs/w-d-xo.html
I do my best to talk application
i have the same problem!
I had no idea about rib flare. For years I would crack my own back by using my hands behind my back, causing rib flare. That with anterior pelvic tilt is just asking for lower back pains.
Thanks for the video.
When i lay on my back my ribs stick out so much.. it looks like im very skinny whilst its not really the case. I will try the exercises. Thank you
I am 6 3,16 years old and I weigh 150 but my ribs love to just stick out when I lay down to.
I'ma have to do this exercise everyday from here on out
@@Nick-fw1ih it sounds like you are skinny it’s not just your ribs for example I’m 5’10 and I’m 155
@@alexreyes7237 I'ma try and hit 170 here in couple months
@@Nick-fw1ih Bro I have literally the same height and same weight but my 1 side of ribcage sticks out.
Thank you so much, i’ve had scoliosis spinal fusion surgery earlier this year and I thought it would also fix my rib protrusion but it didn’t. I’m very insecure about my rib and back bulge as it makes me look awkward and makes me look bad in clothes (im 13). I think if i do this enough the bulge will go away. Thank you!!!
I had to look closely but I saw the expansion bro!!! Also see that narrow ISA swag and the directing to the other video at the end was a great touch!
I'm getting better about making sure my videos branch into each other lol
recommended saves my life sometimes i was just fixating on this looking in the mirror the other day
I so hope this works… After 5 pregnancies my left rib is flared out. I’ll try this and see if it works. Thanks!!
Did you have some progress doing this?
I’m a powerlifter who has an uneven bar placement on my back. It’s been causing some golfer’s elbow on my left because my right shoulder is always “higher” than my left, which means more weight of the bar is sitting on my left side, left hand, and, most crucially, left elbow.
I recently learned my rib cage is “misaligned.” I’m thinking this might be the fix. Will give it a go. Thanks!!
Update?
Wait did this help you I noticed I have the exact same problem when ever I bench I’m working on my rib as we speak I’ll see if it actually helps
thanks for the video for this.
Did you figure this out?
No man sorry
you are going to do this for 3 set and 5-8 reps and no you wont get a permanent correct after only doing this for a few days
@@ewermewer1646 Thanks! That’s ny question, for how long should I do it to get more permanent results
@@pregooooooooski no idea
Thank you.
legit clicked into this video thinking he was going to say just break your rib
Thanks man, I was attacked by my senile handicap uncle this past summer trying to get paid and man my ribs bother me ever since. I appreciate this video like crazy‼️‼️
broke my ribs when i was 10. always had uneven rib flares. excited to try this at nearly the age of 30 and see what happens.
I just turned 30 and have made significant progress with exercises like this. I hope it helps you.
Liking, commenting, and subscribing for this. I’m a new man after this. Dude seriously thank you!
Watched your apposition video and you gave the answers..it’s not the force or extent of exhalation…it’s the duration. Brilliant. You are the man
Thank you brother, im 17 years old and my left said is pushing forward, i was stressing because of this, hope this helps me
Did it?
This man has such a nice body ❤. Quite different from all the influencers I watch with Shredded and smooth bodies.
Yeah a natural look I agree is best. Not training for pure aesthetics but function
This is so astoundingly educational and you know so much; part of it goes over my head. I’m in awe! Also I’m gonna try this with a pillow because I’m certain my one left rib isn’t broken but it sticks out and concerns me. Thought it’s due to my constantly-misaligned spine
My ribcage is uneven that my face is uneven too..I wanted to fix it...and hopefully ur vid will help me
Did you ever see results or have resources you've gathered king? Appreciate it
I don’t think this excercise will help with your face
This has been a big insecurity of mine for quite a while you’re amazing thank you so much
Is there a before and after rib flare?
thanks, it realy helped.
I dont have my rib flare, i got it stabed in the lung
TH-cam recommendations has blessed me
Can you fix a rib flare permanently?
Increasing frequency of normal functional movements will help your nervous system understand the proper way to move. Plus more blood flow will increase healing
@@Quickman77 :0. Uhmm eng plz
@@Unknown-wo9ls you need to understand how your moving improperly, then do corrective exercises to help your nervous system understand the right way to move. Everything is muscle memory. It takes a lot of the same movement (frequency) to explain to your nervous system the right way to move. 👍
@@Quickman77 so when that happens will it be fixed permanently?
@@Unknown-wo9ls Hahaaha I understand because I am IQ100000 :o
Im so happy youtube recommended me this video
I can already see that its working and my unilateral rib flare isnt so pronounced anymore
Can this fix rib flares caused by mild scoliosis?
No
It could do. Physiotherapy definitely can, so look into it
I do have mild scoliosis and also have rib flare. I do think, It is caused by scoliosis. I also have a bone flare in the middle under my chest. I am just 16😔
This is incredible. Thank you!
Thank you so much 🙏
Nice! Happy to hear it helped 🤝
Does this fix my posture as well? Because rn my left rib is flaring out more than the right, and I think bc of that my left shoulder is stretching out further up than the right. I thought it might be scoliosis but whenever doctors looked at my spine they all said it was all fine
i have this exact problem omg
@@samanthagarcia5303 bro it sucks

@@kilokal5978 ay at least I‘m not alone here
It can be a beginner exercise to address postural asymmetries like the one you mention. You may need to address the left shoulder's mobility, as the hiking up of it could be you trying to move "over" the limitation.
tommorow i saw that i have uneven rib cage on my left side . so i was so worried and i cried cause i don't know what is this , i pray for jesus and tell gihim give me a idea . i thought it was a hurniya or something .. so i search about hearniya and i accidently see this video . thank you so much god for thiss . 😭😭😭 now i can bee calm down my self . thank you for this . god bless you ❤🫶 . i pray for your life sucssesful in every way . god bless you . sorry for my bad english actually 😭 but need to tell this
do you think the nordic curl is a good anti extension/rib flare exercise?
I love Nordic curls! I’ve used it a lot for folks but it is pretty advanced. I’d start with a foam roller bridge or do nordics with a slight PPT and hold isometrically.
This is fantastic! I have a habit of sucking me stomach in at times and after losing weight I noticed a rib flare…about how long til you notice a significant difference? Please let me know I appreciate it!! Thank you!!

My scoliosis needed this video
You very likely have a subluxated rib. Go to your doctor.
Especially with the symptom of pain in your armpit area into the back.
