    Wow just wow ….. I wanna cry😢 I’ve been in so much pain for 7 months now bc of my rib flaring up after an adjustment and no one has even mentioned these . I’m a single mom of 4 paying out of pocket $ I don’t have after diagnosis of 4 autoimmune disease and no one has been willing to tell me hey you just need a couple of exercises and you’re good !
    I’m so thankful I found you!
    I literally started to google what makes a pelvic tilt as this is what I was told and everyone kept ignoring my bib being out and I ended on your page . I did one exercise the one with the Pilates ball first just 4 times and I felt huge difference. My jaws been out bc of this and I swear everything started to align 😢Then I started to check all your videos and I keep thanking God for sending me to your page and giving you blessings for the gift you give !
    Thank you so very much!🙏🏻🤍

    Thank you 🙏 I’ve been struggling for years with rib pain and nobody has been able to help me everybody thought it was intercostal muscle or said I was completely fine. This has been helping so much plus the yoga ball/soccer ball trick with pushing the rib back in. My right rib feels pushed back in for the first time since March last year in particular

    Hey man, this is a super thoughtful approach and its much appreciated. I had a bad series of accidents years ago that really damaged my core, I couldn’t stand or walk for more than 20 min & couldn’t raise my arms. But I started by practicing 4 corner breathing and learning to calm my nerves, i began creating a practice based on yoga and basic stability exercises while studying anatomy and movement. So here i am, four years later learning pranayama and controlling my ribs!
    One exercise i do to help with this is ‘hinge point training’, placing a small object beneath each vertebrae segmentally and pressing down into it with the abdominals and core muscles, from the base of the spine and as high up as my mobility can allow. Your observations I believe will help me gain a better practice of this through the understanding . Also, i think the open book exercises can be good because of oblique activation and rotational control. But my ribs and sternum stick out as well, so I’m also focused on obliques as well as serratus anterior, lats.
    Thank you for these tips, especially the movement control in the side plank! Very very cool! Thanks!

    Another great video. Really appreciate the discussion about different types of flares and how to identify which you may have, as well as specific exercise to target each. If you have rib flare with one side that prominently sticks out, would doing the short lever side pump (expansion) on the side that sticks out be less helpful? I wonder in the case for people with spinal curvatures that already have one side of the ribs and flank over stretched, if this exercise should favour the tighter side instead. Thanks for posting!

    • @waughfit
      @waughfit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      When the flare is asymmetrical you can definitely benefit from doing certain activities on one side. That said, I haven’t found it an issue and instead actually find it beneficial to still use that short lever side pump on both sides. It’s actually one of the reasons I like it so much! It’ll feel listen to ally awkward at first but evens out over time (in cases without super severe scoliosis limited by bone).

    Hey there. Love the fact that you have content like this. In your *opinion* can an abdominal binder/brace exacerbate rib flare? I have been using one since 2017 because I feel that I need it and recently I’ve started to wonder if it’s making things worse. Cheers.

    • @waughfit
      @waughfit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. I met someone recently that was given a brace for their rib flare but actually said it was making things worse. Obviously this is only one person's experience. That said, I don't think forcing your ribs in a static position is the answer to.... well your rib just being in a flared static position. The goal is to restore movement options at the rib so that when you breath and move... well the rib moves! I hope that all makes sense.

  • @celli3000

    Will stopping belly breathing naturally help fix the rib flare or are these completely different issues?

    • @waughfit
      @waughfit  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question! Belly breathing happens pretty naturally and we don't want to completely stop that process. It's more that the ribs need to move WITH the belly at about the same rate of movement. Belly breathing can add to the rib flare but overall, just get everything moving and you should be fine. I hope that makes sense and answers your question.
