    Matthias, you have a truly, truly unique gift. My life is enriched by the way you share your insights and projects with us. Your family's lives are clearly blessed also. My favorite part of the whole video is the look on your sister-in-law's face when you were over there test fitting it. She looks like she is just blown away by your project. Money couldn't have bought them such a perfect gate. One day, you'll be on the cover of Time Magazine.

    You are just an unbelievable wood genius. I have watched several of your videos and seriously on every occassion I have been blown away with your amazing gift and ease of getting it done with the most of simplest wood working tools.
    Thanks for sharing and God bless.

    That's pretty ingenious and yet still so simple. I'm almost surprised that something like this isn't on the consumer market. Though, it's so much more satisfying when you make something yourself. I wish I had the room for a wood shop like that.

  • @caskwith
    @caskwith 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is a superb solution to the problem. You really should consider selling that design, I bet one of the baby product manufacturers would love a design like that.

    I really like that solution. It shows the benefits of a custom made solution. Love the way you minimised the fixings, Baby gates are temporary. Buy a blasted countersink, you know it makes sense.

      @thebobhannah 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Ryan Taylor I think it is too obscure for a company to jump on. Also, the tolerances would be somewhat prohibitive. The parallelogram style leaves no room for error. Cool idea though.

    • @margarethall1074
      @margarethall1074 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      +Bob Hannah So many projects ARE custom fit, so why should this be any different? I'm in need of two baby gates, not on stairs, but in areas where there aren't any available right now that would even come close to fitting, even with some rigging, so any ideas are worth it to me.

  • @TobiasRohde

    Great. This is nearly exactly what I need for my 10 month old son who's also geeting more and more mobile. Additionally I need a whole in the gate for our cat. But that should be easy to do with one or two shorter spindles and a short extra horizontal rail in the gate.

    Looks like it will stay, but just because I love them, I would use 2 small neodymium magnets to hold it against the wall. One in the wood and one on the wall. Maybe held with a dab of hot glue so it could be heated and removed without much or any damage to the wall. Very awesome Matthias!!

    Thats a cool baby gate i could use something like that to stop my dog getting up the stairs as he sometimes tries to get into our loft space. A parallelogram gate would be ideal for me as the bottom of my stair well is just a small 3 feet by 3 feet space before you have to turn to get into the hallway of the house so there is no space for the baby gate :D
