Very captivating viewing, Simon. I'd no idea a tow hitch design could be so complex! Just a pity the scruffy green knob let the side down at the very end! ;-)
Yes…I really really wanted to clean up that knob….a squirt of plastic protector and some grease on the tiny pin would have been perfect!….poor old Simon…he and Destiny try so hard but we keep tripping them up…😬😬🫢🫢😃😃😃😃😃😃
I have just taken one off of my Disco 4. I didn’t have that special bolt. I used mole grip on the D shaped shaft. I didn’t want the hitch to fall on the floor. So blocked it up with wood and with a little bit of upward force on it and mole grips was enough to free it, and it dropped out ok. I think the upward force is the secret, and not that it is seized up.
Useful and a complex way to assemble a towvhitch! My Mercedes in 2002 was far more simple…a simple U shaped hitch that inserted into a tube with a spring lock at the top. That must have been much the same locking method in design but was up and away in the dry with a rubber bung to keep out water. I recall it was only a few seconds work to fit the hitch and swivel the electrical connector down on a hinged plate. I used to silicone spray them to keep it all new.🙂🙂🙂🙂 I haven’t got a hitch on the L494 and am not sure the hybrid can have one but then my trailer was a casualty of moving home..😰😰😰 Have a good day! Richard😃😃😃😃
@@L663 I’ve seen one towing a caravan home from Glastonbury just today! I hope he could get enough charge though! Yes that two attachment was somewhat over engineered and designed to go rusty and solid! 😀😀😀
Great video as I have just got a tow bar and want to refurb it. Also gone with Fitting one of your new SS tailgate protectors and the dash cam loom, all with a powerful Uk tee shirt on 😅 great idea with the tape Destiny, if it was me the ball bearing would have launched into the air never to be seen again ! One thing I’d like is for the wing mirrors on my D3 to fold in when you lock the car, have you thought of designing a circuit for that?
Mine was seized when I bought it - I dropped the rear tyre, sprayed the back with penetrating oil, had a cuppa and then went to town on it with an old screw driver and hammer, while my partner turned the green dial. Just make sure you're side on, else you're catching a lead lump!!
Hello, I have a Disco Sport from 2018 with a retractable tow bar and it needs new gears. Do know where I should go to get those gears? Made by Brink model 5534.

Some are seized for sure - but your tips may help some people - thanks for sharing !

You can get towbars for the Tesla apparently !
The towbar is just way to complex for its own good !

Why did you not replace the spring behind the red collar?

Hi there. Was wondering do you a have a video of how to replace rear wishbone on disco 4 ?
We have never done this - i think there would be a lot of swearing
@ no worries. Britpart has video of it.

do you know its been 3 years since you have done4 anything on the discovery 5
Ouch !
What happened to Tyler
He left me and now works as a handyman - it gave him more flexibility with his young family
Good video, not so good price. £80 for the bolt. Ouch!
Its a fine piece of engineering !
❤❤🙏🙏🇬🇧
Hello, I will buy you a better table, not glass...
Love the glass tables ! They never break ! they allow light from behind the object - easy to clean off oil etc... but thanks for the offer.
