Wow Corey. What a loss. This song is a masterpiece!!! I saw him perform it in 1969. He took his shirt off half way through. The city fathers were so agasst they banned him from performing at the Civic Center Music Hall again. Silly 😜. I was a security guard at a casino in 2009 when Three Dog Night appeared and he did this song again. Didn't miss a beat. Rest in peace Cory Wells

The group had three lead singers: Danny Hutton, Chuck Negron, and Cory Wells. They each sang lead on songs, with each having a #1 hit: Black and White (Danny), Joy to the World (Chuck), and Mama Told Me (Not to Come) (Cory). On some songs (e.g., Celebrate and Family of Man), they each sang a verse.

Three Dog Night songs are a huge part of the soundtrack of my life. Saw them in concert numerous times over the years. Try A Little Tenderness is one of my favorites. Thank you Cory Wells for sharing your talent all these years. You truly are one of the great ones. Rock and Roll Heaven is getting better every day.

Cory had style and held his youth quite well. In many ways, he was the personality of 3 Dog Night. Cory and Chuck had the voices with Danny being smart with business and contacts. I think there was an overall nice quality about Cory that made people relate to him. He was the common man who became a music superstar but he never forgot his roots. Though a shell of 3 Dog Night still performs there is no band without Chuck and Cory.

Saw the Night in 1974 in San Antonio Texas and became a huge fan. Just a great band, Floyd, Jimmy G and of course Corey, Danny and Chuck.

It was written in 1932. Bing Crosby recorded it. Otis recorded it in 67, 3 Dog in 68 shortly after Otis died. While Otis's is my favorite, this is a fantastic rendition...the 68 version was pretty fine too. Tough song to sing.
