They had great songs such as "One" (written by Harry Nilsson), "An Old Fashioned Love Song", "Eli's Coming", "Shambala", "Joy To The World", "Liar", "Mama Told Me Not To Come", "Never Been To Spain", "Easy To Be Hard", "The Show Must Go On" etc.

They could rock it in concerts and sound just as good as a recording plus they had a great time performing too. All three of the lead singers were so very talented and took turns singing or backup singing...this group had so many top hits...Cory had a great voice as did Chuck. Danny did too but was mostly backup in a lot of their songs. My sister had a friend in college who was dating their drummer for awhile.

RIP Cory I miss those late 60's and up to mid 70's, when THREE DOG NIGHT put out 21 straight charting hits. Simply Awesome. The 3 singers Cory Wells, Chuck Negron, and Danny Hutton, Shared taking lead vocals. All three were magnificent. Everything the Three Dog Night sang were hits.. Cory was the man doing an awesome job here; all three main vocalists were gr8. Listen to the Three Dog do "One" with Chuck Negron singing live on stage and then listen to John Farnham from Australia do "One" live on stage. I think John is the only other singer besides TDN who can do that song justice and wail. And TDN's "Out in the Country" is a ballad and "Black and White" with Danny Hutton taking lead is awesome. Cory always "got down", dancing like that. And Cory & Otis are having a party in heaven, because Cory has passed on. RIP Cory & Otis xx

Otis was Cory's absolute favourite singer; Tenderness was his tribute to Otis.

This entire concert from Soundstage is absolutely amazing. I’m pretty sure the whole thing is on You Tube and should be watched for a really great live performance. In 1975 there was no auto tune or electronic help for the singers and band and their harmony was unbeatable.

You'll love his version of A Change Gonna Come... The first time I ever heard of Three Dog Night was in winter 1969 and i heard this song on the radio! Awesome!! He did it as a tribue to Otis. He was a big fan. He always does the song the way through the years. Have a good night, ,Harry!

The version of this song that they did on the Captured Live At The Forum album is great. If you want to get an idea of how good they were live, listen to this album. It came out in 1969 and holds up really well. They used to be one of my favorite groups!!

Love them. They endured. I saw them in 1969 and then worked a concert they played in 2009.

What's the deal with the audience? Wish he had the opportunity to play at a music festival. He deserved a crowd that threw it right back at him! Cory, you were one of the best! 💔

--[1] In 1969-70, our local New Orleans cover band (Noah's Was Battleship) covered 3 Dog Night's cover of the magnificent Otis Redding classic. What wonderfulness & happiness from over 50 years ago (today, 7/28/24) for me. --[2] Harri, thank you so very much for providing this vid. Love you & 3 Dog Night. --[3] Finally, last night (7/27/24), we saw 3 Dog Night at Hollywood Casino, Bay St. Louis, MS. Sadly, 3 Dog Night did not cover this song. However, their concert was so, so good & excellently performed. Thanks, Richard 👍

Back in 1966 when Otis's version came out, I played it for my 57 yr old Mother and to my surprise she sang along with the song (knew the lyrics). She said she liked it better than the original. Turns out this song was first recorded back in 1932/33.

I know this song by Three Dog Night very well. Having said that, while you couldn't wait to see what they were going to do with their version - I couldn't wait to see YOUR reaction to it, knowing what was to come! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I think it's an awesome version and tribute to the great Otis!
