too bad some here have not heard the words to this song...it is powerful no matter who is singing lead. Many of us have made mistakes and have sinned...
Chuck did an awesome lead vocal on Easy To Be Hard. I also enjoyed the live version with Cory and Danny on lead. That was also an awesome version as well. Love Three Dog Night and all three lead singers. Great memories of 1969 when 4 songs from the musical Hair was on the pop charts. That was one of them hitting number four that fall.
This concert with TDN and the Nashville Symphony was performed at the Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tn. I produced the DVD with a super video team. It was a fun project for everyone involved. We all got to know the band, especially Cory and Danny, who spent many days with us during post production. What great guys and true professionals. They really cared about their music and fans. Cory and Danny were much involved during the weeks of editing and laying the sound tracks for the DVD. We quickly learned that Cory and Danny were perfectionist who watched every detail. Always polite and positive. May God bless, Cory. He made the world a better place.
Chuck willl always be my favorite of the group. This group would be better if they let Chuck sing his songs especially the ones we will always remember with his beautiful voice.
Feel good lyrics + strong vocals = GREAT music! Back when what you said in a song mattered! I was only a little kid when these guys were making hits on the charts, never did get to see them live but I loved 'em! Who could ever forget Joy to the World and Mama Told Me Not To Come and on and on and on! It's good to know they are still out there making good music! Thanks for posting this great video!
Chuck Negron owns this one because you can't get that classic record out of your head, but the guys did an amazing job of carrying it off. Solid, heartfelt vocals and playing at the same time. Nicely done. Especially 30-plus years later. Band totally rocks btw.
Remember folks, these are men in their 60's. I find it an inspiration that they can still do it. Yes, chuck was the original but they do an amazing job.
Cory Wells was the most talented singer in the band. He could sing like no one else. Danny Hutton admitted that shortly after he passed. Loved his style.
I love Cory's singing, but Chuck Negron is hands down my favorite. Danny is good, but Chuck and Cory were the best. RIP Cory Wells. Gone too soon. Cory was the most likeable member.
Cory Wells was 3 Dog Night. I mean, they were all very talented singers. But, in my humble opinion Cory was the true anchor. Chuck was very good, however, Cory was the main man. Plus, he continued to improve over the years. When I first heard him sing in Vietnam , I was hooked. What a terrific talent. Also, he never got a big head, even though he was fantastic. OMG, what a talent!!
I agree Cory had great soul and sang from the heart. He was my 2nd favorite 3DN, but Chuck Negron is just a awesome singer and more of Chuck's songs became hits because he sang them so well. Cory did a good version, but Chuck's "Easy To Be Hard" is better.
Still, you really can't beat this, with an orchestra even! These were the songs my fiends and I listnened to on a cheap transitor radio at the park as we played baseball on a Saturday.
Saw these guys in concert three months ago, and they were outstanding. As a classical rock radio DJ, for 35 years I've heard them many times, and they're as good now as they ever were.
@HattieLovesCattie I'd love to see the three of them back together again, too, but apparently there's some bad blood among them, so I doubt that will ever happen! BTW, Chuck was MY favorite, and I STILL love his voice! Praise God that he still has that beautiful voice and is finally clean and sober!
BEST version of this particular song by this group. Loved everything they ever did, miss them a lot, great entertainers! *and this IS my favourite song that they do also.......
Still one of my favorite songs. Notice that even your grand-kids get turned on to this music. I don't care WHO is singing it now... at least they are singing it again. Also reminds me of my entry into the Navy over 35 years ago (retired now) when I thought everyone else was "different" and not to be trusted. Then when I got to basic training I met this wonderful world of people (all men then of course) from all corners of America... Changed my life forever.
Three Dog Night had the best singers of ANY rock/pop band IMO. Danny Hutton and Cory Wells are still great even in their senior years. It's a shame that the three of them can't put their differences aside and get back together with with Chuck Negron for a tour.....while they are still young enough to be able to do so.
First presented to a forlorn and desperate nation through the wonderland musical magic called: Hair---Cory, Danny and Chuck of Three Dog Night opened it up to an even wider/broader audience, hungry for Hope! Cory and Danny OWN this song, here and NOW in this moment in History!!!
Yeah!!!! I grew up on 3DN's stuff through my junior hs and hs years. I love this rendition and appreciate the orchestral arrangement. Cory and Danny made this rendition theirs, imho. Rock on guys, can't wait to see you at the Pacific Amphitheater!!!
These guys were fantastic! Each one put their own style of singing to a song. Remember, they had 3 lead singers. Cory had great soul, Chuck could sing with more versatility, and although Danny could also sing well, he was great at harmonizing, which is what they agreed to do.
I've been in the music industry for 30 years and if you think TDN doesn't have "it" anymore then I'd have to say that either you can't sing or you're a very young musician! Or maybe you're deaf ! Cuz these guys have great pitch and they're OLD!! Lighten up and be supportive of fellow musicians you may need support someday....
There's no doubt this is one of my favorite band of all time growing up as a teenager, but the singer Chuck Negron was the best voice singing this tune and many others. I still have to give them credit they still sound great.
I've seen tdn many times,,,,I wish Negron was still with the band, but,,,,,I don't know the half of it,,,,,so,,I'm just gonna say,,,who is the guitarist ,, every time I see you guys,,,,,,,I just love him,,,he' just loves playing,,and he's three dog nights.." James Pankau" of Chicago,,,His enthusiasm is contagious.........
To all the haters, I'm a musician, and I've heard Chuck singing recently. He just doesn't have it anymore, and when he sings these songs they don't sound anything like Three Dog Night anymore. Sorry, but that's reality. Besides, Cory always was the face of the band and had the outstanding lead vocals.
When I think back to around 1969 and 1970, I think about Three Dog Night. I was 20 and they were on the radio constantly. Great band. Everybody has some bumps in their lives but these guys continue to sing. Sorry Chuck isn't with them but he really took the low road for several years.
They are in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and right fully so. Rock n Roll hall of fame is just a tad bit slow is all. Still a great band back then and still great now rock on TDN.
@PaBasser This concert was incredible. I too would like to see Chuck come back but take it from someone who was at this performance...the Two Dogs still rock!!!
Other than a couple of comments, the rest of you don't get it. I am not going to waste my time explaining details to those who have no appreciation for REAL music, regardless of who is/isn't present. One person does not make a group, and since this one person decided to frig up his life and let the music die, the others are supposed to as well? They are keeping the music of the group alive, sorry if you don't like it. I grew up with this stuff, have 2 albums (vinyl) by them and I love it.
Back in the day it was brown, he is the one singing the song! his real name is Emil Lenwadowski from New York. Buffalo I think. Danny is the one with the silver in his hair and leather jacket
Don't get me wrong. Chuck was and probably still is an excellent singer. But Cory and Danny do this mighty fine! Also I just love Danny! He always looks like he's passing a kidney stone when he's singing.. YOU GOTTA LOVE THEM!
@Starlitblond He auditioned. He knew some guys who were auditioning for the drummer position and went for it. He learned to drum when he was little from my dad and other uncle, and he and my dad taught me to drum. (Indirectly and directly at times)
Fan-freak'N fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! They sound great!!! No, it's not the same "Three Dog Night" as 35years + ago (and we miss Chuck) but CONSIDER they're older now! And they still got " IT" Haters if you still got "IT" in 35 years then we'll talk!!!!
A question for all of you Chuck lovers. Based on all of the posts I've been reading on facebook and other sites, it seems that most, if not all, of you (and even Chuck) believe that he totally and solely was responsible for the success of TDN from 1968-76. If this is the case, then why isn't his solo career more successful. In other words, why didn't he ever achieve the level of success that other artists who left their respective bands achieved (Lionel Richie post Commodores; Peter Gabriel/Phil Collins post Genesis; Peter Cetera post Chicago; Michael McDonald post Steely Dan/Doobie Brothers; John Fogerty post Creedence Clearwater Revival.; etc. These latter artists became as or even more popular than their respective bands.
Rita Geller You are so right Rita! While they surged with success in the past, it was widely due to the group as a whole, even though Chuck had become a most despicable drug addict. I've heard in the past how it was said by the members of his group, that they would never forgive him for all the deception and vile acts he perpetuated on the other members of the band. A book was out from Chuck I believe, and it spoke of his being sober and making mistakes, yet I saw him a few years ago in a small concert at a seashore island resort in south Jersey, and he was terrible. Laughing and goofing off during his concert; as if he were drunk or on drugs. He has failed himself, because he lacks any willpower or character. While he had a wonderful voice, it ended there, and what was left was he himself. And that person couldn't be trusted to be a caretaker of his own soul. He's lost. That's why he never broke out and became a solo success like others :)
+James Troiano This is because being a drug addict for years has change his personality. He has lost 25 plus years of his life as if he was in a coma and woke up. He doesn't know how to act his age.
Simple. He wasn't successful as a solo artist because he was in the throes of his drug addiction, losing his fortune and living in abandoned buildings. Who knows what he could have achieved if it wasn't for drugs?
same thing that happens to all bands, Ego,Drugs and Alcohol! But in listening to Chuck in an interview he takes full ownership of the situation and now it is up to Corey and Danny. I once met Corey at a place called "Cowboy's" in Bossier City Louisiana and I asked him about Chuck ( not knowing the situation) and he gave me a look of hatred and anger that you could tell he was fighting. He and the rest of them ain't getting any younger and I hope they resolve their differences.
How you can say this is a better version than the original with Chuck Negron is beyond me... Are we listening to the same song?? These guys are good and I'm not dissing them, but Chuck Negron's voice was by far superior, hence, the reason he was the lead voice for the majority of their hits.
@broncolady4ever Hey,I'm glad he is doing ok.I too wish he was with the group.Oh well.Danny was my favorite tho.I would love to see them all again. The last time I saw Danny and Cory was 12 years ago at my state fair.
@66LifesMistress77 And I like them short because I can see something really quick and jump off in a hurry when I need to and not feel like I've been interrupted. He's really good at dropping in something funny or just fun to see when you need a quick lift.
Hey Chuck lovers, Danny and Cory (RIP) invited Chuck to rejoin the group in 1997 As it happened, since he was away from the band for 12 years and there was no guarantee that he could/would remain sober, Danny and Cory made an offer for him to to come back on a 3-year trial basis without being a partner.. (If it wroked out, he would become permanent). To me, that was a very generous offer under the circumstances. A lot of you don't understand the "business" aspect of "show business". One goal of a successful business is to minimize the risk factor as much as possible, and like it or not Chuck was and still is a huge risk. Danny and Cory were protecting the band and its business interests in case Chuck should slip. It would have been more difficult to fire him if he was a full partner. In an interview that Cory gave in 2012 with NJ.com, he talked about the reasons why there was and never would be a reunion. According to Cory, Chuck made very tremendous demands which were unacceptable to Danny and him. (In an interview, Chuck bragged about how he and his then father-in-law had ideas on how the band could be restructured, the type of songs, etc). Also Cory's daughter posted on facebook the circumstances surrounding Floyd and Chuck's termination and why they would never return. If Chuck really cared about his fans as he claimed/still claims, he would have accepted the deal.
Rita--As usual you "conveniently forget" to mention several key facts in your never-ending mission to make Chuck appear to be the ultimate bad guy. Yes, Danny and Cory made Chuck an offer to rejoin the group in 1997. After a 3-year trial period he would be guaranteed a full partnership in the band. However, he would still have no say or vote in band decisions which is an extremely important point. Don't know how it works in your world but full partnership dictates having a voice in what goes on within the band. You also fail to bring up the money situation. According to Chuck's book he was offered $2000.00 weekly for a twenty-six weeks per year touring schedule. For the same period Danny and Cory would each be earning nearly a quarter of a million dollars! Hardly seems like a fair starting point, money-wise. I can't blame Chuck at all for not accepting the offer. If Danny and Cory (R.I.P.) were really serious about bringing Chuck back they would have made their offer more acceptable instead of playing games and seeing what they could get away with. Would also like to know where I can find the interview you mention (if it even exists) where Chuck is bragging about how the band could be restructured, the type of songs, etc.
Rita Geller They invited him back on THEIR terms. They would have called the shots. Danny was a jerk. Plain and simple. Chuck even said danny was jealous of him. Many of their hits was successful because of chuck.. thats no lie!
xxcharmed1xx they invited him back on business terms. The band was running as a well-oiled machine, and Chuck wanted to run it the way he wanted. Chuck's massive ego, his lack of self-control, his self-image, etc., costed him a place in one of the great touring live acts in the world. The many times I saw them(without Chuck) it was quite obvious that a decent opening band, such as War, could push TDN into stratospheric performances. No Chuck needed.
Rita Geller you're right on point. Anyone with even a casual look at the band in the '80s could see that they clearly would have liked to have Chuck back, but he was burning those bridges left and right.
too bad some here have not heard the words to this song...it is powerful no matter who is singing lead. Many of us have made mistakes and have sinned...

Yes, this is Chuck's song but Cory & Danny did an amazing job. Strong vocals. RIP, Cory. We miss U.
RIP Corey Your a legend in Western NY 🙏👍
That's my uncle on the drums! Fantastic song!
Wow what a BEAUTIFUL BLESSING 😘🎵🙏🏾
Cory's voice aged like a very fine wine!!!
There never was a voice like Chuck's and he still has it ! He's clean and sober and sounds awesome !
bugsinrug today? Chuck sounds terrible today and has absolutely no range.
WOW! This new incarnation of Three Dog Night is OUTSTANDING! All these old favorite songs sound freash & crisp & Danny & cory look & sound great

These are some voices that aged very well. Cory is missed.
Sounds of my past.. Still Marvelous in 2021 70th Birthday Season
Chuck willl always be my favorite of the group. This group would be better if they let Chuck sing his songs especially the ones we will always remember with his beautiful voice.

3 greatest vocalist of the 70s best times of my life,,
And now, it’s June 2020. Words are still fresh, and needed.
all the singers were great, loved them all.
Three Dog Night had 3 of the best songs like this,...Easy to be Hard, One, Pieces of April, Love the 70s!
RIP Cory...We're really gonna miss you.
This is amazing. Three Dog Night has only become better with age.
these guys sound great, and they each have their own signature song from when they were all singing their hits, this is Chucks.
Remember folks, these are men in their 60's. I find it an inspiration that they can still do it. Yes, chuck was the original but they do an amazing job.
Stephen Sorrentino six years ago Cori was 71!

Robert Nelson Chuck was much better. This is Chucks song!
I agree Cory had great soul and sang from the heart. He was my 2nd favorite 3DN, but Chuck Negron is just a awesome singer and more of Chuck's songs became hits because he sang them so well. Cory did a good version, but Chuck's "Easy To Be Hard" is better.
Fantastic version. Simply fantastic.. Real deal singing.
Still, you really can't beat this, with an orchestra even! These were the songs my fiends and I listnened to on a cheap transitor radio at the park as we played baseball on a Saturday.
Unbelievable. Que cancion mas hermosa. Y con la Sinfónica se escucha magnífico. Thanx for uploading. Saludos.
Saw these guys in concert three months ago, and they were outstanding. As a classical rock radio DJ, for 35 years I've heard them many times, and they're as good now as they ever were.
This song never gets old. Classic!
They haven't lost anything!! You are correct! I want to see them before either they lose it or I lose it!! !!They are just perfect!
BEST version of this particular song by this group. Loved everything they ever did, miss them a lot, great entertainers! *and this IS my favourite song that they do also.......
Wow! These guys can sing!!
I don't understand why some people say Danny doesn't have a strong voice. He sounds petty good to me.
He sang solo lead on only two hit songs during TDN's golden years, 1969-74. What does that tell you?
Sold out last night!
He pales compared to Chuck and Cory and Danny'ssongs rarely were hits. Chuck had the most hits.
Changed my life forever.
speechless, I'm having a great time listening to this music-
Three Dog Night had the best singers of ANY rock/pop band IMO.
Absolutely Breathtaking 💜💜💜💜💜
You said it oh so well! I thot Danny's vocals on this song was very strong & gr8 & of course, Cory was always awesome. RIP Cory.
no wonder j hudson sang this song for Idol...the timeless genius of 3 dog Night!
How can people be so "artless" heeeeeee heee Love this song! And your Cory -- KellyGift!
amazing voices no matter they age
I've been in the music industry for 30 years and if you think TDN doesn't have "it" anymore then I'd have to say that either you can't sing or you're a very young musician!
Or maybe you're deaf ! Cuz these guys have great pitch and they're OLD!! Lighten up and be supportive of fellow musicians you may need support someday....
Amen
There's no doubt this is one of my favorite band of all time growing up as a teenager, but the singer Chuck Negron was the best voice singing this tune and many others. I still have to give them credit they still sound great.
Have u heard chuck Negron at this age singing lately.... Brutal
I've seen tdn many times,,,,I wish Negron was still with the band, but,,,,,I don't know the half of it,,,,,so,,I'm just gonna say,,,who is the guitarist ,, every time I see you guys,,,,,,,I just love him,,,he' just loves playing,,and he's three dog nights.." A gem of a song,..by a great band!

Truly awesome!
GREAT TUNE! U can not disagree...
You go KellyGift -- easy to say no!!!!!!!!!! And how can be people be so "artless" hee hee
your good friend!
Don't get any better than these guys!! 1:29
Truly ... The real Voice of 3 dog night
Super great music! Where is the equal to this now?
they played at the Finger Lakes Racing track this summer in Upstate New York. They were very good...
Exactly. However, the nice thing is you can still go to a 3dn concert and not feel like you're listening to your granpa sing.
One of my very favorites!!! Still fantastic!!!!
Wow, beautiful. I bet Danny misses singing this song with Cory
Zodiac this song was in the film. San Francisco in the late 60's early 70's must of been an amazing place
I dedicate this to Alan Kurdi. May he and his family RIP.
There lovly....great job
Magnificent ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
♥
This is amazing!!!!
Do you remember??? Where were you the first time, you heard this song?
Inglewood Bowling alley.
They are in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame
and right fully so. Rock n Roll hall of fame is just a tad bit slow is all. Still a great band back then and still great now rock on TDN.
@PaBasser
This concert was incredible. I too would like to see Chuck come back but take it from someone who was at this performance...the Two Dogs still rock!!!

Chuck has the most soulful voice of the 3.
You mean Cory.
Está canción era parte del musical de Broadway, "Hair". Excellent cover.
Wow, they sound great.
Never gets old
Amazing group.......
Back in the day it was brown, he is the one singing the song! his real name is Emil Lenwadowski from New York. Buffalo I think.
Danny is the one with the silver in his hair and leather jacket
I think they belted this out!
Love 😃🎵🤗🎵🎶🎶♥️
Chuck is the man and these guys ought to kiss his behind as he made them. This bandout there now doesnt have chucks sounds good for almost 70!
I LOVE THREE DOG NIGHT.
Roses and Rainbows is a great song!!!!
Dang I miss u guys.
caught the original group in 1968,powerful,fun...
Don't get me wrong. Chuck was and probably still is an excellent singer. But Cory and Danny do this mighty fine! Also I just love Danny! He always looks like he's passing a kidney stone when he's singing.. YOU GOTTA LOVE THEM!
Better than ever!
@Starlitblond He auditioned. He knew some guys who were auditioning for the drummer position and went for it. He learned to drum when he was little from my dad and other uncle, and he and my dad taught me to drum. (Indirectly and directly at times)
Looooove this!!
Gave you another thumbs up, Kelster'
wow, they sang Chuck's song. Wish they had meeting to forgive each other.
Fan-freak'N fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! They sound great!!! No, it's not the same "Three Dog Night" as 35years + ago (and we miss Chuck) but CONSIDER they're older now! And they still got " IT"
Haters if you still got "IT" in 35 years then we'll talk!!!!
At 56 yrs old,I'll always appreciate damn good music.3 Dog Night is timeless, with or without Chuck.I like the original better though.
A question for all of you Chuck lovers. Based on all of the posts I've been reading on facebook and other sites, it seems that most, if not all, of you (and even Chuck) believe that he totally and solely was responsible for the success of TDN from 1968-76. Great, but Chuck Negron singing this cant be topped.

Anyone with even a casual look at the band in the '80s could see that they clearly would have liked to have Chuck back, but he was burning those bridges left and right.
no...god wanted to see chuck.....lol.
EXCELLENT BAND STILL SOUND GREAT.
Still hot and sounding awesome, love ya!!! ❤❤❤
