- The 2D Mario Bros. series is comprised of fantastic and whimsical adventures across the Mushroom lands, BUT throughout the years an issue centered around character selection has reared its ugly head on multiple occasions. Sure, you always have the main dude Mario, yet the side ensemble of iconic characters such as Luigi, Peach, and Toad, among others, are often relegated to either being kidnapped or a straight up clone of Mario outside of cosmetics. While nothing more is technically needed outside of the red plumber, looking at series like SONIC™️ that boast a variety of striking characters each with their own unique traits leaves us Nintendo fanboys quivering in our boots. There's been spots of improvements every once in awhile, but it looks like the recent release of Mario Bros. Wonder is here to save the day once and for all...or is it? WATCH AND FIND OUT!

Personally I love the item badges
For example: If you really want a Bubble Flower in a level that doesn’t provide one, you can just equip the All Bubble Flower badge and get it from any power!
iirc I used the all bubble a few times when getting some tricky 10 coins so it for sure has its uses

I am pretty darn sure Nintendo considers Mario Run part of the mainline Super Mario series. Daisy was very playable in that game first.

Nintendo considers Mario 35 a mainline game, so taking their word on it is silly.
I think the reason Daisy took so long to be playable because she’s from that weird series that’s not from the main Mario team, being Mario Land. Probably the same reason why Wario is still missing, I hope he comes back soon
Wait, does he know that blue toad and yellow toad have different voice lines? Since they have that, they are kinda different characters.

How could Captain Toad be playable in a platformer if he can't jump?
Popeye, Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle, Bionic Comando, being able to jump isn't mandatory.
We have easy characters so why not some extra hard characters 😈

I would've liked for Yoshi to maybe get the option to have a health bar, like Mario in the 3D games. You get hit three times and you're out, and Powerups can replenish your health.

If all the characters play the same/similarly, I don't get why we can't get Wario and Waluigi.
I guess I sorta get why since they’re more of antagonists (kinda) but that didn’t stop Wario from being in 64DS. Heck, Nabbit is a random bandit and he joined along the heroes so I don’t see why those goobers can’t show up
I have been seeing a pattern very awfully well here with youtube videos.

No ill intent by the way, I just sometimes catch onto very familiar title styles
I think another thing they improved on was the multiplayer co op, no more being picked up and thrown off the stage or bouncing on eachothers head

the collision was fun though, i think a toggle for it would have been a good option.

This video alone oozes so much fucking charm and talent than half of the mass amount of content on this entire site. (I mean, that Yoshi intermission was so unnecessary but I genuinely applaud you for including it, it's just so goofy in the most positive of ways.)

@@theredknight9314 FINALLY SOMEONE SAYS IT, yoshi never took the damage and only got scared (mainline mario) and he probably just manned up to not run off when getting poked now
@@theredknight9314 Well I only asked for damage, not power ups (as I said in the vid I think Yoshi having his extra abilities is a fine trade off for no power ups). And I'm not sure when he's never been able to take damage? He can get hurt and even die in plenty of his own games (not to mention 64DS), so I don't think it's that far fetched to ask.

I would've liked if Yoshis can be small and big but can't use powerups other than the Super Mushroom, small Yoshi also can't use his tongue cuz he's too small to eat enemies, and in super form he can perform all the abilities he already performs in the game, and he can still safely bounce on spiked surfaces
Baby Yoshis can eat enemies in World, tho…
@tonyhakston536 oh yeah true, but to be fair, they're not in a "damaged" form, maybe small Yoshi would just have a shorter tongue, like a quarter of the length, that could work well I guess

This isn’t Daisy’s first time playable in a mainline game, it’s actually her 2nd as her first was in Super Mario Run which is technically a mainline game

Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad’s ability are the same as 3D world
Toadette: takes some of your opponents toads to help win Toad Rallies
Yoshis: Each color of toad in the game has an equivalent yoshi and they all can Flutter, Walk on spikes, and in toad rally they add there color of toad to the battle. They aren’t an easy mode as they can still take damage and use mushrooms
Daisy: has a double jump
Mario: is given to you for free
Peach: is unlocked to you after the first time you defeat Bowser
Toad: is unlocked to you once you connect your Nintendo account to the game
Daisy: is unlocked by completing area 30 in remix 10, but failing moves her back 30 areas
Luigi, Toadette, and the yoshis: are unlocked by building there house

I like to imagine the yoshis here are a litteral copy paste from their yoshi island days. I mean, if you make a yoshi eat a melon piranha plant (that only exists in 1 level the whole game) they spit out seeds like they do in yoshis island. and if you get hit while another player is riding you. they jump off like how it does in the mario world series. so it makes sense that they are pretty much a god to anything that didnt already kill them in their base game.

For me, this game has signified the downfall of Mario. It threw the average Mario style out the window (something I've grown accustomed to), has no Martinet or Deanna Mustard (the latter being a confusing and equally disappointing departure), and serves as the "killer" to the New Super Mario Bros series (a selection of games I really like and was hoping for a direct sequel to. What's worse is the fact people like it, and now the series will likely never be the same again.
Stop complaining. Charles is too old to play Mario now. If he was still Mario, they would have to reuse his voice clips from previous games which would sound boring.
Almost everyone agreed that the New Soup series had become incredibly stale and repetitive. So that's why they ditched the series and did something new. The game's not perfect though, it's too easy, has terrible bosses (the final one is good though) and it's too short.
