    I have to admit. I am depressed over my hair texture. I feel everything breaks it. It's fine, full and curly. When I do get braids every braider tends to knot my hair at my edges which rips my hair. I'm really contemplating cutting my hair off and giving up. I thought being natural was going to be easy and not as stressful. Butttttt.... I swear the water and grease days seemed to be so easy when I was a child.

      Awww, I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been struggling with your natural hair, Shameka! It’s not easy and I’ve definitely been there many many MANY times. What styles have you tried in the past that made you feel your best? Whenever I feel this way, it usually helps me to lean into those styles that I love to wear the most- even if they're not natural hairstyles - before returning to my natural look. Wigs have really helped me out in this way too.
      This upcoming Friday at 5pm EST, I'll be discussing how to stay motivated on our fine natural hair journey's. Feel free to join us for more on this topic! 💛

    Sum up
    1. to much manipulation in the installation process( to much combing,heat…)
    2. neglecting your hair in protective styles( don’t forget to moisturize and hydrate)
    3. sleeping on cotton pillow cases( use satin/silk pillow cases, bonnets,scarfs)
    4. you keep your protective styles for way to long( weakens the strands/ creates tangles, maximal one and a half moths)
    5. takedown process is to rough(coat strands with slipping liquid and protect ends while removing protective styles)

    I don't even want to talk about this lol. I am so guilty of this wearing braids because I know how to to them. My braids haven't grown my hair past my shoulders in years 😩 💀☠🤦🏾‍♀️. It's my fault

      Hey Beautiful Curlfriend! I COMPLETELY GET THIS! LOL! I was also guilty of wearing my extensions for far too long at the beginning of my fine natural hair journey. That's so awesome that you're able to put them in yourself though! You must be saving a TON of money, AND you also have the direct control to use less tension than if you were at the mercy of a stylist, lol!!!
      Either way, you've got this Curlfriend! Try this tip out and see what happens the next time you take down your braids 🙌🏾

    I typically like to do mini twists and keep them for a month. Lately I've been lazy and kept them a little longer than I should - big mistake! Thank you for this! P.S I love your makeup and head wrap ❤

      Hey Suko! Thank you so much for checking out this video and for your lovely words 🥰 Mini twists are definitely dangerous when left in too long; especially on my own fine natural hair! I completely get that though because it’s really easy to forget a protective style though… 😬😩

    My protective style is with plats or buns. These are kept for a few days. Finger de tangling works really well for me. My hair is kept moisturized with a homemade hair butter. Shampoo is done monthly.
    I am over 60 and have an entire head of white hair which is now dyed with henna and indigo.
    I am so pleased with the results.
    My hair has grows at a healthy pace and I have no breaking.

    Hello, I love your positivity! So encouraging! I have super fine hair that doesn't grow past a certain length. I do the silk pillows and hair wraps but definitely get end tangles. I wash and regular condition ~every 5 days when my head itches. I just trimmed my ends and am doing a honey oil hair mask for the first time. I use a denman brush with only 4 rows (removed 2). I have been natural hair for 35 years. When I get fed up (brushing, tangles, no growth) I've shaved my head or once grew locs for 8 years. I had a Swedish mother so no training or tolerance for spending large amounts of time on my hair. I wear my hair out natural or up - which sounds like where the tangling problem is. Also sounds like I need to commit to trimming every 3-4 months. It sounds like trying the no conditioner, but doing deep conditioning is something to try. It sounds like using leave ins but not oils to moisturize? I definitely need to learn protective styles I can leave the house with - with fine hair they look ridiculous on me imo. I don't have any wig experience and am afraid of feeling like a fraud or being discovered. I can't tell when I need to moisturize and have no idea what my porosity is. I think I have fine/thin 3c/4a hair that easily gets stretched out and odd looking. I have defined curls if I brush with conditioner while wet, carefully rinse and pat dry. I'm experimenting with regaining curl definition and reducing post wash shrinkage by changing how I apply moisturizers like the pattern leave in and the shea moisture leave in.

      Hi Isa,
      Thank you so much for checking out this video and for your wonderful support! I completely get the experience of having fine natural hair that doesn't grow past a certain length without very concentrated and strategic efforts to achieve your hair goals. You mentioned getting end tangles; how often do you stretch your hair? In my experience, I've noticed that wearing my hair in a stretched state tends to help a lot with the tangly ends as well.
      Keep doing the things that work well for you and only try a few new things here and there. I wouldn't suggest changing everything all at once because then you won't know what is working vs what is not working. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions 🙂

    Love protective hairstyles! Great advice on how long you should keep a protective hair style! I'm guilty of leaving braids in to long and all it did was cause damage. I mostly do twists or buns for a protective style. 😊😍😊

    Hello. I'm a new friend here on your channel and I'm sure you've seen some of my comments! I did not do many protective styles when I threw out my hair because I didn't know about them and there was not much on TH-cam at the time that talked about protective styling so I just wore my hair out after I big chopped it and now I am at a length past bra strap length and closer to tailbone length and I am not personally interested at this time about protective styling my hair, but I love learning about it!

    • @marie9219
      @marie9219 ปีที่แล้ว

      @FineNaturalHairRocks Before, I was pretty aggressive with my takedowns. But I've been using coconut oil to take them out now and being super gentle with only finger detangling. My shedding seems to be less when I take it easy but I'm not getting growth when it's in a protective style. It took me three years just to touch my shoulders and that's only the back. The front and sides are full but my hair breaks easily. I figured I needed to start using protein treatments but every video says not to if I'm low porosity

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey beautiful Curlfriend, I would say that this is a bit too much manipulation for a protective style. Would it be possible for you to stretch your protective style over a week at minimum?

      Hmmm, this is a good question that depends on what you're looking to achieve. Do you want a beautiful new style, maximum length retention, or just a way to put away your strands for a bit? The answer to this question matters and will help you determine what might work best for your next protective style. I hope this helps Curlfriend! 💛

    Hi, how long should I leave my protective style in if I'm putting my hair in mini twists without adding extensions?

    • @FineNaturalHairROCKS
      @FineNaturalHairROCKS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Melvina! 😄💛 So mini twists are a bit different. How long do you usually keep them in for? Have you experienced tangling with them in the past? Without using added extensions, my fine hair tends to knot up on itself in mini twists so I generally avoid them like the plague...

    • @melvinagdavis6870
      @melvinagdavis6870 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@FineNaturalHairROCKS I usually leave them in for 2 weeks. No big issues with tangling just frizzy at the roots and needs moisturizing 2-3 times per week. I want to try to maintain them longer so that I can retain more length but I'm not sure if it's good for my hair. I do wash and deep condition with the twist installed so is it really necessary to re-twist after 2 weeks because it's time to wash?
