- Ruby will be 7-months old on September 4, 2017. I can't believe how much she has grown and how far our journey together has come. We love training outside in different types of weather having fun looking for distractions.
I've got some rainy day video and sunny day video :-) It's all OFF LEASH which is what we both prefer. Freedom, but yet with Ruby's e-collar the ability to maintain safety at distance.
In this video, Ruby continues her learning with hand signals for "sit", "stand", and "down". I just started teaching her to weave between my legs so that is an on-going project. Recall (come) has increased to great distance; as well as sit/wait and place (boundary training command). My little girl is growing up!
We met a lot of new people walking and jogging at park as well as spending time with the regular visitors to the park. Appreciate all the wonderful feedback as we travel around Atlanta!

I love how poodles always seem to dance a little when they do something. Even just running there is always an extra springy quality to their movements. So pretty and happy. Boy, lots of energy!

I wanted to thank you for the pointers. My pup is now 5 1/2 months and is so well behaved he goes visiting at local nursing facilities. He also enjoys being out on the trail and splashing in the creek. We are working on being on his "place" and staying there. He's doing very well in his training. Thanks again!

Thank you for the video. I will be bringing home my first standard poodle puppy in a few weeks and am soooo excited! I needed a running buddy for running on trails. I have a mini shi-poo who will jog about a mile with me and without any training, she naturally "heels", even off leash. I know every dog is different so I am hoping to actually train and work with my standard so I can take him everywhere. Do you have any training materials available for purchase?
Congratulations, on your new running buddy! Unfortunately, I do not have any training materials for purchase. If your goal is to be outside running with your poodle, I would recommend that you spend as much time as possible outside in different environment with your puppy. Birth to approximately 3 to 4 months old is the socialization period. Exposing your puppy to rain, mud, people, kids, any variations in the environment that you might encounter while running. Have a wonderful time and enjoy!

i just got a standard poodle puppy (13 weeks old). its bitter cold outside 5 to -5 and we're not having a lot of success with house training. we average more accidents than successes. i want to think the wind and cold is the problem, but am i enabling bad behavior?
Congrats on your new poodle puppy! There are many variables when training any behaviors and the weather is just one :-) To experience success with house training make a list of all the variables and explanation of what impact you have made thus far. For example, crate training is an important variable in achieving success with potty training. Check your list and see if your puppy is crate trained. If your puppy has had full run of the house then it is time to involve the use of a crate to increase the odds of success in potty training. Sometimes with puppies "we humans" are not consistent with out actions in helping puppy. Being consistent is the number one thing that will help you reach your goal of training your puppy. The wind and cold is a variable so grab a coat for your puppy as you rush them out the door to potty. Weather is not the problem it's how you handle this variable that impacts your success. Puppies bowel and bladders are not mature at 13 weeks; thus, frequent potty breaks. There is so much information to deliver on "how to potty a puppy" I would encourage you to seek the help of a professional trainer to speed up the process.
@@DogWithAView - i tried putting a jacket on the pooch, and it was too much of a distraction. he is a bit willful. my two 11 year old shih tzu seem to be handling the cold, but the world's tiniest bladder seems to be a 20 minute cycle. but i will am increasing the crate time until we get this under control. thanks for your insight and advice.
