Poodles are great dogs. I always had one since my childhood. Today my two Poodles Amore and Baron (sibblings) are 17 Years old and still very active, running. Very beautiful with great character.
most ppl don't realize but standard poodles were originally hunting dogs. they're EVERYTHING a lab is? but smarter, easier to train, and they don't shed. they do well at almost ANYTHING you put them to. theres almost NO dog sport or activity out there that a poodle HASN'T done well in.
They have hair not fur and it never stops growing which is why they need regular grooming. They are totally loving and gentle . Athletic and unbelievably intelligent. Super clean and funny❤️ I have a very large male standard who is four. He loves going to the vet and the groomer. I know duck hunters down in Maryland that use them to retrieve ! We live on a farm In Connecticut. He is my loyal companion.
I would say poodles are easier for their handlers to train, and labs are easier to pay someone else to train. Hense why labs are the most common service dogs.
After a lot of research and reading about getting a labradoodle, me and my husband realised that what we actually wanted was a standard poodle. Low shedding, smart, athletic. We are currently looking for standard poodle breeders next year ! Update. We have our beautiful standard apricot poodle, Ray! He’s currently 12 weeks old. X
We have had three standard poodles as our last three dogs and I will admit that I was the one who wanted a 'man sized' dog to walk , rather than the miniature my wife owned when I met her. As we approach our 70's we have decided that our next one will have to be a miniature because believe me a big strong standard poodle, or any other breed for that matter will take YOU for a walk. But they are wonderful dogs. There is no need to cross breed whatsoever. A standard Poodle has a great temperament.
not only that but doodles? are actually just backyard bred dogs. they aren't actually purebred ANYTHING. doodles are something that really needs to be put to a stop. they're really starting to overload the shelters lately. the top 2 things in shelters these days? bully breeds and doodles.
Service_Dog_Adventures is the same with standard poodle dogs including all size are in shelters just like any other purebreds dogs too not just the mix dogs one of my guy friend rescue n adopted two standard poodle plus there also people who own poodle who makes them have babies so they could sell them for money and there other that do puppy mills and lastly there bad breeder who only cares about money n not the well-being of the poodle n scamming Client into thinking there going home with healthy poodle pup but instead sell them sick puppies
I too never understood the doodle fad right now. My first dog was a poodle. After he passed away, I got another poodle and will probably add a second one. I absolutely loved them !
Hi I love Standard poodles right now I have 4 Standard poodles and 1 royal standard poodle love love them they are my heart l have some questions if you can email me singletonrp@yahoo.com Thanks
I have had poodles all my life which started because of my allergies. We initially had toys & miniatures when I was living with my parents, we showed them, I clipped show poodles, taught obedience, trained them and previously had a black standard for 13 yrs, and now have a 12 yr old Miniature boy, plus a new addition of a red 17 mth old Standard girl. Both were not looked after that well (ie. groomed) but now are groomed by me each 2-3 wks. If I do not take them for walks every day (i've just had both my knees replaced) they do 'zoomies' around the garden for 30 minutes. I'm looking forward to seeing your other videos. Thank you for a gr8 video. :)
They really are an amazing breed. They combine almost every positive trait you could want in a dog. You don't have to give them one of those crazy froo-froo cuts either :P
Combat veteran here also street veteran 😂 and got my self a standard poodle 🐩 yesterday and I love it and he love it and the whole family it’s loving it 🥰
My wife and I just adopted a 9 month old Goldendoodle. She is 75% poodle and 25% golden retriever. I'm very pleased that she is mostly Poole. Infact, many people think she is a Poodle. I've been reading about and watching videos on the Poodle to learn more. I did look into the Poodle but found this girl, who is very calm. The calmness is why we chose her.
Love my standards. My poodles have 10 acres. Just lost Gunther at almost 16! Always preaching about keeping the breed and everything you said. Loved it!
I have a standard poodle. She is my second standard. I also have a toy poodle. I had a mini for 18 years. I agree these dogs are NOT foo foo dogs. Smart, loyal and happy dogs. We love our poodles. Best best dogs we’ve ever lived with. And we are not kids. In our sixties now and our standard keeps us moving because she needs to move. LOL. Thank you for the Video. Let’s get the word out about these marvelous animals.
@@zg490 our standard and our toy do well together. Some times there’s growling on the toys part over greenies. Other than that they curl up together. If the play goes start to get rough our toy will run up and sit with my husband or with me. But usually the play is equal and fun. ❤️
@@zg490 it took a while for our toy to trust our standard. I think it was because we got our standard as a puppy of 13 weeks of age. She was a wildly energetic puppy. That and our toy was alpha female with our other two dogs who were both males while our newest standard is also a female. They get along very well now that our standard isn’t a puppy. She’s three now. Our toy is still the alpha dog in the house and she will at time get angry and try to attack the standard usually over greenies. My dogs love greenies. The standard know that she must not react and she runs as close as she can get to one of us. We then scoop the toy up and tell her no. At this point both dog curl up together to sleep. So I think as long as you watch closely because of the size difference you will be fine. We are. We are actually thinking about getting a third poodle. We just can’t decide toy or standard.
@@deniseemond9263 thank you for your response. Our toy is female, 2 years old and very friendly w other dogs. We would like a male SP so we’ll keep in mind to supervise their interactions 🙏🏼
I have a standard poodle and i agree with this video. You need to do about 45 minutes exercise in the morning and evening with the dog and they will be fine. These are intelligent dogs and they need intelligent play time. They are not a typical play and fetch and love to solve intelligent problems. They are easy to train, good family dogs and very adorable. They bark and alert against strangers and are very inquisitive and follow you around the house. I would strongly recommend this breed.
I never was a big dog lover myself but my gf almost forced me to get our standards poodle 2 years ago... I have to said It couldn’t be an easier breed, they are so smart and easy to train, they never bark, they don’t shed and smell wet dog.
I have always had Labrador retrievers. I enjoyed their personalities and their loyalty to their owners. A friend of mine had a standard poodle and I was impressed by this breed's intelligence, loyalty and personality. Her poodle had a litter of five and she gave me my first standard poodle. This dog is amazing! Although I loved my labs, I could do with out the constant shedding, ear infections and odor. Two of my grandchildren have allergies, but they do not have a problem being around my poodle. I will never own any other breed of dog!
which version do you recommend? I know it depends on what o es circumstances are, but all around, which do you think is the best all around version/dog?
I actually wanted a Golden Retriever and wound up lucky to adopt a Goldendoodle as he has the best personality and temperament. I've owned Goldens, but never Poodles. After a couple years with him, I adopted a standard Poodle as well! They play exactly like these poodles, definitely not frufru. In fact, at the dog park, I'd argue that they're the toughest and roughest of playmates but they never hurt others! So happy to have gotten both of them.
Thank you so much! I have been researching large and small breeds for a year now, and I am thinking that the standard poodle is the best breed for so many reasons, one most importantly is that their intelligence is a game changer for me.
I have had standard poodles all of my life. and absolutely love them. I currently have two. My niece wanted a standard so badly but her husband didn't. They got a golden doodle (I've never seen the point) that is mostly poodle. I see almost nothing of the retriever in her. I told my niece "that was a sneaky way of getting her poodle".
Good for you….I wanted a poodle my daughter didnt(foofoo dog she said) until she went swimming w my cousins f1b golden doodle and my daughter fell in love w that crazy goofy poodle and curls…she loves running her fingers thru his fur
we were just planning to get one poodle and now you just built our confidence to get this beautiful bread and to motivate us more to enjoy nature and go outside, thank you!
Beautiful happy poodles - everything you said about standards is true. My standard loves the snow too! I keep her coat longer and her feet unshaved in the winter so that she doesn't get too cold - she runs outside many times a day on our fenced-in acre so boots would be impractical. My previous standard lived to almost 16. Wonderful to see your dogs having so much fun ❤
So happy to see this video! My wonderful standard is now 12 years old. I am single, 83 years and have been a parent to my girl, Coco since she was 8 weeks old! I now live in an apartment with Coco; I walk her at least 3 times a day. We are also lucky enough to be close to my daughter and son-in-law who own a 14 acre fenced horse farm. I try to get her over there at least once a week. She loves to run on the trails at the farm and adores their doberman pincher. They play all along the trails as they explore. I am so grateful to hear that I may have two or more years with my dear friend. She doesn't have any problems at this time but I do see that she has become a little weak in her backside. The vet says no arthritis and no hip problems. I do love this girl more than I can describe - she makes all the difference in my life as an older woman!!! So grateful for her, her loyalty, her love, etc.!!!
I've been a cat person all my life, and even though I had a roommate who had dogs and lived with them for 3 years and helped care for them, I never bonded much with any dog. Then we dogsat someone's poodle for a month and I fell in love. I was sad to give him back. I'm now looking into finding a standard breeder for a poodle of my own sometime hopefully in the next year lol.
You sound like me! I have always been a cat person, but I fell in love with a blue poodle that belonged to a coworker. Every time she brought her poodle to work I got absolutely NOTHING done because I would walk it, play with it, give it treats. lol I am now awaiting my very own SPOO that will be ready for pickup in October - can't wait! Did you ever get yours? :) (And I still have a cat!)
@@jonibrezina7469 I did! I got a precious little standard parti poodle pup who is now not quite so little at nine months, but still very precious. She is an incredible bed hog, loves the dog park with the fire of a thousand suns and wants to be best friends with everyone, much to my cats' annoyance.
Although not a standard, I LOVE my poodle. He is full of energy, curiosity and love. My next dog will be a standard but in the mean time Ricky will be OK.
Love this! My dad is allergic to dogs and I grew up on an orchard so all of our Standards were farm dogs. Li'l Bear was the BEST rodent hunter ever!!! Kept the house, wood pile nicely rat and mouse free, the moles, voles, and bunnies at bay. People forget that they were originally water foul dogs (Poodle comes from German puddle) and love romping around outside as much if not more than couch cuddles.
I have a Standard Bernedoodle (Standard Poodle, Bernese Mountain Dog cross). My partner really liked the Bernese Mountain dogs. We chose the Standard Bernedoodle so that we would get a dog then did not shed as much and did not drool as much that resembled a Bernese Mountain Dog. We I absolutely adore him! However when we do get another dog it will be a standard poodle 😊
When poodles are off leash, it's fun to watch them. You have a joyful bunch there...could you please do a video about what you would recommend feeding poodles based on your experience. Thank you...
Poodles were originally bred as retrievers and family dogs, not circus performers. Though they've been used as such. I've had Poodles as my Service Dog partners for 11 years, but I'm currently between dogs. My most recent dog bloated and passed away recently. I just wanted to appreciate your walk with your dogs. TFS! Cathartic. ❤
We love our standard poodles! And my husband is a retired Green Beret! We even have one, Paxton, who looks just like your Rosie and watched the whole video with me…because that what he does!☺️❤️
Great video! As a poodle owner, I appreciate you taking the time to educate people on Standards and just how much exercise they really need. I have two red standards myself, one looks very similar to yours
Lost my big brown clown 2 weeks ago at age 14 3/4. He was a prince! Smart, funny & loyal. How we miss him! Just brought home a 15 wk Standard who has warmed our sad hearts.
Year 2024 here....my standard boy is 14 and I cant imagine him away from me. I'm not particularly inclined towards doodles of any mix, but standards are just that-✨the standard✨.....nothing else really does like this breed.
Loved this video!! Had poodles my whole life & they’re absolutely the best. Love their energy and enthusiasm and smarts! Even the one who is 14 is keeping up! Such healthy dogs, I love it.
My wife and I got a black f1b Golden Doodle. I knew they were mixed with Poodles, but I wouldn't have minded getting a standard poodle. I just got what my wife wanted and I'm happy she did. But standard Poodles are beautiful, elegant, active and intelligent. Never thought of them as too feminine or fou-fou lol I've been researching dogs more and more since getting our pup. Love the lifestyle you have created for your beautiful poodles.
I’ve had every breed over my life (I’m 65) 3 years ago I got a male standard poodle. Wow. I’m just sad I never found this breed prior to now. SMART, STRONG and absolutely spot on about everything. Like a person - intuitive. Does need exercise - I’m on 1/2 an acre and he runs around - but on the 100 degrees plus days he doesn’t get out as much. But as someone once told me - I got a male and he is “in love” with me…. Doesn’t just ‘love me’…. Lol. Can’t say enough. Extremely active dogs though - need exercise and need training. Mine in puppyhood was very mischievous! P.S. I DID look at doodles, but when I found out about shedding and all the hair problems with a mix that you do NOT get with a purebred poodle…. And when I found out the perfect temperament of a purebred poodle - never looked back. My male is black and white Parti poodle and he is gorgeous.
I am currently training with a very awesome beautiful sweet grey standard Poodle (Fergie). You are correct about standard poodle. Fergie is very very playful and energetic. Always wants to run around on are walks. So happy that I was paired up with her as my service dog.
I watch a black standard poodle her name is Cossett. I love her so much I walk her every day for two hours one hour throwing balls in her lake side huge yard then we walk tons of trails and go to dog parks. I taught her tons of tricks roll over and such she is a great listener off leash I love watching her run at full speed and play run with other dogs she is 7 years old energizer bunny go go. She weighs 65 pounds. She loves treats only for obedience though… how much do your poodles weigh??
Thanks a lot for this video, It's a very pleasure to watch them playing in the snow. they are beautiful. sorry for my mistakes, I don't speak English well. Byebye
@@YAYMargaux Yes, he is. I am an experienced dog owner but this is my first standard poodle. I have done research for almost two years before finally getting one. I'm prepared and know their temperaments, how much exercise they need, I have the time for him, and I'm just overall ready to take care of him and train him. Your videos have helped a lot and are continuing to help a lot. Any advice?
My wife and I have just collected our standard puppy at 8 weeks old, we did a lot of homework first, I did have three English setters in the past so am use to big dogs, having just retired I have the time to enjoy our new puppy and give them plenty of exercise, enjoyed your video and lovely views, your poodles look lovely.
We lost our two standard poodles in 2022, one at 15 1/2, the other was 12. They were the best dogs! They do have high exercise requirements. It’s only been a couple of months since we said goodbye to Quinn, he was a very big guy at about 75 pounds, and we knew he would likely leave us sooner than our 55 lb Ozzy. I can’t say enough about what wonderful dogs poodes are . Sturdy, dependable, playful , loyal, intelligent dogs. Our boys were in a 4.5 acreage for the first 10/7 years of their lives, then we moved into a town. We walked them twice a day, every day, also took them to a very good dog park until they were too old for such shenanigans. We are considering getting another poodle, but also very seriously considering if we are able to give them the life they deserve. It is a must to give them lots of exercise!! if we are able to give them the life they deserve. It is a must to give poodles lots of exercise!
i almost got a goldendoodle or a labradoodle with the misconception that they are all low allergenic and more sporty than poodles. after some research, a standard poodle is actually what i’m looking for! going to pick up our puppy in a few days and i can’t wait!!
Thank you for the video. After a 11 year love affair with my two Golden Retrievers (litter mates) who both passed away last year, I recently have become Mama to two Standard Poodles (litter mates). They are 14 week old puppies and we've been together 5 weeks already. I love many things about them. I am retired and live in an area with many walking trails so look forward to outdoor adventures when they are mature enough.
Poodles are my favorite breed. I don't have one right now but had one growing up. I belong to several Facebook poodle groups. I love some of the stories the owners come up with. My favorite was the one lady whose female standard would lock her out of the house and then eat all the treats. When she called the locksmith he was hysterical laughing cause this wasn't the first time it happened. Smart smart smart!
Standards definitely dont need an hour a day. Ive raised them since I was a kid. Never had one overweight or unhappy. They are people oriented an extremely loyal, so they are perfectly happy inside being a house dog. That being said, mine have always loved car rides and drive thrus. Agree that they are not “foo foo” dogs. They are muscular, athletic, smart, protective, personable, and great with kids.
I think they do need an hour. Like the lady said that you can break up the hour like 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon. But they are smart and active. Gosh I love them so much. Best breed ever 🐩💗
I do not agree that they do not need exercise AJ. I have a white Standard poodle and she requires an hour a day for her mental and physical wellbeing. My Bonnie gets excitable and a little frustrated if not exercised. She loves coming out with me every day for an hour. I agree they are people orientated and love to be with their owner, but I do not agree with you about the exercise AJ. I too have had poodles near all my life and every one of them have needed and enjoyed their walkies. I also have two toy poodles both aged 11 presently and they also love their walkies. The man said they are not inside dogs and that is not true. They most definitely are inside dogs and love being close to their owners. They were used in circuses' because they are highly intelligent, but they are not circus dogs and were bred to retrieve and hunt. Anyway, I do not agree with you about the exercise thing. My Bonnie loves to run for an hour every day and is much happier and content when she gets this period. All my standard loved their runs... Yes they will sleep all day long but eventually they get pent up if not walked. Everything else you said i agree with ...they are the best. My Bonnies Grandad won Supreme Champion at Crufts in 2014 (check him out on google) She is beautiful, and we adore her.
@@ajzepp8976 Quote 'Standards definately don't need an hour a day..!' If thats not stating they do not require that kind of exercise then i do not know what is. You also said and I quote, ' They are perfectly happy inside being a house dog,' and I agree to a certain extent but only after they have had at least an hours walk every day. My dog would suffer mentally and indeed physcially if she was not walked daily. The dictionary meaning of the word 'Definately' it is confirmed or for sure... etc AJ sorry. And I said i did not agree with what you said having had several Standards myself and currently the owner of a 16 month old Standard as i type who absolutely requires at least an hour a day exercise AJ. So my point was i did not agree with what you said. And las time i looked i am allowed to express what i know to be the case. Standard poodles are by defination high energy dogs who love to run.
Hi Scott and Laura. Thank you so much for a great video. Love the dogs and where you live. We live in beautiful Hungary, a country of dog lovers, and are in the process of buying our first dog. For a number of reasons, the standard poodle is our number one choice. We look forward to seeing more of your videos, which we are sure will be a great help as we navigate the many considerations in owning and caring for our standard poodle.
I just watched your awesome video! I also have 3 standard poodles and I could not agree more about the exercise. We walk 2x a day, 6 miles a day. I have a female Zoey that is identical to Chloe! Thank you for spreading great info on this amazing breed!❤️
Thanks for this video and looking forward to the series on poodle life! It's been half a year since we lost of fur members completing a wonderful 14+ years of having a poma-poo and a malti-poo in our lives, I especailly was very fond of the poma-poo and my wife and I agree to take a year break of dog life to reset and have some life without dogs. But now as the time approaches to get a new dog(or dogs) I think the standard poodle will be the breed of choice. Being a man, I will be not be ashamed of having a standard poodle even though most of my friends have the "labra-doodles" One time while I was waiting to pickup my kid from after school club, I watched this dog owner bring her two standard poodles to this wide open field near the school and they were just having a hay day out there playing fighting running around the field several times with high energy and fetching the ball that was launched across the field several times. Just watching that brought me joy. I ended up chatting to the owner about the breed and decided back then that I would seriously consider the standard poodle as the next choice. Love poma poo but I do admit I did have carry her at the end of of a colder 14 mile mountain hike. I think standard poodle will be able hold their own on that.
i have had 5 poodles over the years-amazing and fun and wicked smart! they are challenging and become your best friend as they try to understand us humans! i could never want any other companion.
This was a very good video, fun to watch, and I have one goldendoodle and am getting a standard poodle next week so it was perfect for me to see! Can't wait now!
Absolutely the best dog and smarter than a border collie. Whoever said that a Pood was 2nd in intelligence to a collie never had 3 generations of Standards. Plus we have had tea cups and they are smarter. You nailed everything about the magnificent dogs. We have 4 of them and they are circus dogs! That’s what I call them too! Cheers from Maine
My standard poodle is 8 months old. She is very energetic and I walk her twice a day for 45 minutes each walk. I let her exercise in the back yard since I live in the city.I feed her Farmina dry food, a combination of Meat, Blueberries and Pumpkin.
Couldn’t find a standard poodle in my area unless wanted to go out of state to get one so opted for a doodle who was easier to get in a nearer area….grew up w miniature poodles when was younger….poodles are smart and very tough dogs….love them
Standards are the best! We have 3 also 14, 4, and 1. Love them so much. Yes, they need exercise every day and things to keep the mind working. I could not agree more with your thoughts on all the "doodle" mixes, if you want a large non-shedding sporty active dog...get a standard poodle. Thanks for sharing your girls (PS all of ours are girls too.).
We lived in Mountain Home and the snow was so different from SUn Valley . Mounatin Home our Poodle needed boots in Sun Valley he was fine. Our Poodle is born in Idaho :) . We are first dog owners and he is the perfect dog for us.
Im a first time dog owner with a Standard Poodle and he's such a great dog. He's smart..fun..and playful and is such a joy watching him bounce around. People just hate the shaved face haircut. If people realized you can clip them in a teddy cut.. they would get a pudel.
LOL. Loved the video. I have a 14 year old poodle as well. She also thinks that she's 3. Have had many dogs in my life and would always welcome another standard poodle. They're smart and affectionate dogs.
My (4 yr old St. Fem Poodle) loves the Snow. We live in Canada and have proper Winters,LOL. Every Day I walk with her 1-2 hr( except when it’s too hot, she’s black) As an added benefit, this keeps me in shape as well.
after having had Olde English Sheepdogs for 30 yrs (3). We did not get another dog after losing Buck 2 yrs ago. Over the years I always talked about wanting a Standard Poodle. I credit my girlfriend with making it happen. Teddy just turned 1 (AKC registered name 'El Diablo Negro Grande". He is the most wonderful boy. So loving and sweet. Not a hint of aggression. He's never growled, nipped or shown any temper. At 30 lbs at the dog park, he dove right in with the Big dogs and got tossed up but just wagged his tail and rite back in it. He's over 70 lbs now. He makes us laugh every day. My constant companion Enjoyed your video and was heartened learn of your long-lived poodles.. Thanx, Chris Jones
I'm glad to find this channel. I'm a Poodle person and had a toy poodle for 13 years a long time ago. But unfortunately I wasn't able to own a dog since then due to this and that reason. But definitely have a plan to have one in the future. Yes, they are super smart. Your babies are so adorable! The environment is the best for any breed of dogs.
Napoleon used them as war dogs. Groups of soldiers had their own to take care of brushing out their hair to present a huge false target and they would charge at the enemy and go straight for the throat. Instilled fear in the enemy.
I rescued a labradoodle from a kennel. She had CH. She was 1 year old when I got her. I fell in love at first sight. What attracted me was her square nose with her beard. She was having seizures this past April. I had to have her put down. I miss her incredibly. Lost without her. She was so healthy the 13 years I had her. The seizures came out of nowhere. The glazed look in her eyes lasted longer each event. She had trouble walking, and didn't seem to know where she was. I would get another labradoodle, but I'm also thinking of getting a miniature poodle. So I can keep walking. I love large dogs, but at 69, I can't run anymore. Im looking in shelters of all kinds for another dog. Your girls are beautiful. They remind me of Lizzy. I hope Chloe stays healthy and happy for many more years.
Hey, guys! I'm intending to get one myself and it brings me so much joy to see your girls playing in the snow. I've subscribed and will watch all that I can. And by the way - I was one of the people who was thinking that I should get a doodle instead of a regular old poodle. And you're right, it was the name and the association with their prim and proper image. I came to love the real poodle after I met one and got a big dose of lovings from her.
We have had 8 standard poodles. They do quite well in a city with walks and a fenced yard. Standard poodles are still being used as hunting, companion, service, therapy dogs. And they make exeellant family dogs. Don't mess with a doodle when you can have the real deal.
I am looking to get a smaller poodle but I will not shave it’s face! I was turned off because of the grooming. I met a poodle without a shaved face and paws. Adorable. That’s when I fell in love. I trained my son’s shihpoo . She is mostly poodle. We don’t shave her face We are very active . She goes in my son’s backpack when we ride bikes to the park. She’s like the captain of a ship looking over his shoulder! I now know I want all poodle. They are beautiful, smart and loving. So loyal and affectionate. Not at all the stuck up personality portrayed in stories. Thanks for the video. Beautiful area where you live!
Whichever size of poodle you get, they are an athletic type of dog. I had a miniature poodle when a child, put him on a leash and guess who was pulling who at the beach, whenever he wanted to run the length of the beach near the waves. Even as I was 1.6m tall and run well and fast and he was only weighting 3.5 kgs, if he wanted to run at full speed, I was beating my running records, just holding on to the leash and being pulled by him. Not to worry, I had him under control and could hold him back whenever I wanted to, that was just so that he could enjoy himself, without taking the risk of him getting lost and running to the roadside to be run over by a car while he was looking for us. Quite a few times, bigger dogs, including labradors, were running free there too, yet in spite of having to pull me to reach that speed, my tiny poodle would beat them, because poodles are very athletic and fast. Nothing foo-foo about them, that's only the foo-fooness of their humans showing through.
I have a Bernedoodle and he’s mostly poodle. My guy needs at LEAST two hours of full on exercise every day!! He is a ball of playful energy!! He loves wrestling with his dog friends and sprinting, pouncing and long walks. The exercise surprised me! But he does get me out of the house and moving every day!! I love my doodle. Most think mine is a pure poodle. He’s 75% poodle
Poodles are great dogs. I always had one since my childhood. Today my two Poodles Amore and Baron (sibblings) are 17 Years old and still very active, running. Very beautiful with great character.
wow that's awesome! is there anything you did that you think contributed towards their long life?
That's fantastic. They are so funny great characters
most ppl don't realize but standard poodles were originally hunting dogs. they're EVERYTHING a lab is? but smarter, easier to train, and they don't shed. they do well at almost ANYTHING you put them to. theres almost NO dog sport or activity out there that a poodle HASN'T done well in.
So true. Ppl are always surprised when I tell them how they worked originally
My standard poodle is HUGE. He has a strong prey drive and unfortunately wants to chase my indoor cats. He is learning not to do that.
They have hair not fur and it never stops growing which is why they need regular grooming. They are totally loving and gentle . Athletic and unbelievably intelligent. Super clean and funny❤️
I have a very large male standard who is four.
Absolutely correct
After a lot of research and reading about getting a labradoodle, me and my husband realised that what we actually wanted was a standard poodle.
Low shedding, smart, athletic.
We are currently looking for standard poodle breeders next year !
Update. We have our beautiful standard apricot poodle, Ray! He’s currently 12 weeks old. X
excellent choice
YAY Margaux! We are trying to find a reputable breeder in uk 🇬🇧 your dogs are beautiful and so well mannered.
Thank you for your videos!!!
They are the best!
Hi I love Standard poodles right now I have 4 Standard poodles and 1 royal standard poodle love love them they are my heart l have some questions if you can email me singletonrp@yahoo.com Thanks
I have had 3 and plan on more.
Same story !

Agree we only trim and brush he stays beautiful every one talks to us about how beautiful and very happy gentle strong
They are a fantastic breed. They require a lot of physical and mental stimulation.
Standard Poodle is the BEST! I own 3
They are amazing!
@@YAYMargaux hey I live in Florida and i would like to know where could I get on of these dogs I really want one! :)
I just got a boy .never owned a dog so I hope I be ok .
@@pjbrad19 www.floridapoodlerescue.org This is a rescue for Poodles.
We have a black mini poodle who is 17 yrs. Old.
He still chases the squirrels and our house kitties and is doing so well.
Your poodles are gorgeous.🐕
How is the relationship between your standard and toy? We have a toy and would like to add a standard to the fam
Is the temperament different between a toy vs mini vs a standard?
Also, what made you go for a toy vs a mini again?
In my life I have been lucky enough to have owned 6 poodles. Two standards, 2 miniature, two toy. Loved them all. They were all wonderful.
which version do you recommend?
That’s a proud doggy Daddy right there. 👏🏽
When I die, I want to be reincarnated as one of this couple's poodles.
we are on our fourth standard... tough great athletic dogs...great hikers and smart smart smart smart...easy to train
They are the best dogs. I have 2 right now. Have had 4 total.
We even have one, Paxton, who looks just like your Rosie and watched the whole video with me…because that what he does!☺️❤️
I inherited my mom’s 3.5 year old poodle. She enjoys her walks and running around the yard
Thank you. Very nice video! We're getting our 2nd Standard in April. Best dogs in the world!
I have an apricot female standard. I LOVE her. She is so loving and she is over 13 and still acts like a puppy. She is a great tracker.
Your poodles are delightful to watch! I have a mini poodle and I love him to bits. Don't think I am ever getting anything but a poodle!
Wow! So beautiful there. Cheers from Bermuda. I’m an Aussie Labradoodle dad. Audrey came to me from Tasmania 3 years ago.
Byebye
I love standard poodles. I just got a prospect for service work that is a poodle. His name is Sage and I absolutely love him more than anything!
They are so smart and all around great dogs. Is he your first standard?
@@YAYMargaux Yes, he is. I am an experienced dog owner but this is my first standard poodle. I have done research for almost two years before finally getting one. I'm prepared and know their temperaments, how much exercise they need, I have the time for him, and I'm just overall ready to take care of him and train him. Your videos have helped a lot and are continuing to help a lot. Any advice?
I get my poodle in December. I'm so excited and anxious and it's been a long time coming. This video was amazing.
I love poodles! Very clever dogs!
People think poodles are not "macho" because of the way they're groomed. I love my mini poodle.
Nice to see the Ketchum dog park so full of snow. Our dogs had so much fun when we lived there.
Many different lines of standard exist. Differences exist even in those lines. Some are couch potatoes, some need a job or they'll drive you nuts.
@@heathermallard9197 I never said they dont need exercise, Heather. Every dog needs exercise.
Poodles are such great pets-all sizes! I have had all 3, now have a toy (she’s sooo tiny!!!) and she is as rough and tumble as my standard and minis!
I just got my standard poodle puppy yesterday. I also picked up his sister for my aunt. They are 8 weeks old and my other dog absolutely loves them.
Being a man, I will be not be ashamed of having a standard poodle even though most of my friends have the "labra-doodles"
One time while I was waiting to pickup my kid from after school club, I watched this dog owner bring her two standard poodles to this wide open field near the school and they were just having a hay day out there playing fighting running around the field several times with high energy and fetching the ball that was launched across the field several times.
Juliette, my toy poodle sits on the arm of my chair & loves to watch your channel She loves the poodles!
I love my standard! I will ALWAYS have a standard awesome dogs and I loved watching your pac running in the snow!
i have had 5 poodles over the years-amazing and fun and wicked smart! they are challenging and become your best friend as they try to understand us humans!

A dark poodle dog on the white snow comes into my eyes.
It's amazing that you don't go far even though you loosen the leash.
Oh you are sooo lucky to have Cloe live so long. We have had poodles and poodle mixes since 1982. The miniature does not need as much exercise.
Just walked one today that may be up for re-homing. I am totally impressed with their ability as a watch dog.
Every Day I walk with her 1-2 hr( except when it’s too hot, she’s black)
As an added benefit, this keeps me in shape as well.
after having had Olde English Sheepdogs for 30 yrs (3).
Thanks Scott for the awesome video! I would like to know what kind of food you feed them. Poodles are the best!
We bought a Standard Poodle puppy, and we are having him trained to be a service dog. This breed is so smart they can problem solve.
Your poodles are so lucky to hike in this extraordinary landscape, woh it is amazing!
Beautiful dogs you have. I used to have a standard brown and a silver mini poodle. Since long I have wanted a poodle again.
Did you know a team of poodles competed in the Iditarod? That's how athletic they can be.
Napoleon used them as war dogs. Groups of soldiers had their own to take care of brushing out their hair to present a huge false target and they would charge at the enemy and go straight for the throat. Instilled fear in the enemy.

Just got an 8 month old black Standard Poodle, 60 pounds! Very smart and easy to train. Have you made a "How to Clip You Poodle" video yet?
Thxs this helps alot! I've been thinking of getting a standard and trying to study the breed.
They are such BEAUTIFUL dogs!! I am going to get a Mini or Moyen Poodle :) Fantastic!! :)
I came to love the real poodle after I met one and got a big dose of lovings from her.
doodles are the gateway drug to poodles....lol. I got a goldendoodle 8 weeks ago and now have a standard poodle on the way! You speak truth my friend!
Great video mate. I’ve just purchased a puppy red standard poodle. This is extremely helpful
Very informative. I learned some more things about these delightful animal.thx.
I want poodles and OH MY GOD I want to live where you live!
My mini was fine indoors we had a terrace and there were standards in the building.
