Go back to the junkyard and get the throttle cable from the explorer, it is right length and has the correct ends and will work with the Ranger throttle pedal.
@@MotionAutoTv Cool deal, thing is I’m actually swapping my 92 Explorer with a 96 Explorer 5.0 And the throttle cable even works on the earlier rangers and Explorer’s.
I like that the 5.0 is different. Lots of LS swaps on TH-cam. Glad to see you stuck with the Ford purity and threw a Ford motor in the ranger. Can't wait to see how it turns out! 👍👍
@@userANAKINthe explorer 5.0 is a better option because explorers and rangers are essentially the same platform. You can take the entire explorer dash and slap it into a ranger and the engine bays are almost identical. It’s an easier swap with minimal fabrication
I've loved watching your channel since day one! It's made by real DIYer's so it's easy for us to follow. I have a 2003 Ford Ranger Ext Cab Tremor with a second 3.0 V6 that I rebuilt 40k miles ago.. I have finally got to the point that I can do my swap so I'm watching this series again. After you've worked on the same truck for almost 20 years (yes I've own this one that long) you learn tips, tricks, and shortcuts that you want to share. Like cutting a window into the heater fan box in the interior so you just have to remove a panel to replace the core instead of the whole dash.....lol! Another is for removing/replacing the engine or trans....or both. Of course take the hood off but mark the hinge placement with a grease pencil first. The one that no one seems to do but saves so much more time and allows you to angle or level everything easier is to remove the front bumper and radiator support. Two people with electric impacts can do this in less than 30 mins. Then you have a hole that is open between the two tires and completely open at the top. If you do this, honestly you don't need an engine stand but just a hoist. You can also mount the tranny up and then bring in everything at a level steady pace. I've even took the fenders off during a swap I helped with and then we had access to both sides of the engine. I'm not criticizing at all I promise and yes, I know it's been 2 years since this was posted. I'm just hoping someone new here with see this, as well as other tips in the comments, before starting their project. Thanks for always doing cool shit!
That Swap is Awesome up in the North East here in Vermont everyone has swapped a small block 350 into a Chevy S10, but I have only seen one V8 Ranger. I like the fact that this is a competition and you talk shit, but at the end of the day you got each other's backs and even help each other when it's needed!
I wrecked my Ranger so when I put a new core support in, I made it a bolt in instead of weld in. When you pull a V8 engine on an Explorer the transmission and flywheel need to be removed. You are going to have issues with the fuel pressure. The best thing to do when swapping is to have the whole Explorer because it has almost everything you need. Such as the proper throttle cable and radiator. The easiest swap to do is 1999-2000 Ranger 4x4 with a 1999-2001 Explorer because everything is plug and play. Fuel pressure, VSS, and antitheft are all the same. 4.2 V6 4x4 transmission is hard to find.
I seriously love how easy it is to engine swap these little trucks. These 90s vehicles from Ford were just like Legos if you want to swap them out. When it wouldn't start and you said it's a 1998, I immediately knew what it was. 1998 was the first year Ford used Passive Anti-theft System (PATS) on the Explorer but not the Ranger. If you swapped the steering column and used the Explorer key it would've fired right up.

you could always check the wiring at the key and find where the start wires go and make shure they are corect. they probably go through that plug that didn't quite line up
For the starter its probably the anti theft module. i think in those years only the 4 cylinder rangers had the starter cutoff. all you need to do is either run the red/blue from ignition switch to relay or straight to the solenoid or go behind passenger airbag find anti theft module and ground the black/green wire and it should start. There is 2 pink wires in the body plug that run to nutrual safety that might need to be twisted together . Been a bit since my last swap so its hard to remember everything . Let me know when you want to figure out the a/c wiring also lol
Good evening. Besides the black and white wire to be grounded and use other for alternator. What othe wire needs to be modified. Any help will be greatly appreciate,
No crank is probably just missing the inhibitor switch, some guys take the gear position sensor off the old auto chuck it in neutral and plug it in, otherwise you'll just have to figure out where the wires are for it and connect them together. Or just run a wire from the key to either the starter relay or straight to the starter trigger

I'd gamble that your no start is due not having the neutral safety or the clutch switch. Start signal from key would pass through those before getting to the start relay. And also if it was one with transponder, it also runs through the anti-theft controller. If you run a wire straight from the ignition switch to the relay you'd bypass all those potential breaks in the circuit. Or just go push button as you said
