Also it is important to point out that people shouldn't try to save a couple of bucks by buying the knockoff no-name pocket clips, generally they have a X on the back. They are made from very soft steel and will bend and break as if they were plastic. Buying one of those (like I did) is a false economy as you will then need to buy the proper Nite Ize one afterwards (like I did).
I'm ok with a 2 layer knife in my pocket, but anything more than that goes on a nano clip. I put a tiny quick change clip used for fishing on mine. Makes it really easy to switch the clip to a different knife.
Was looking for something like that for years, only to find that i destroy (leather covered) steering wheels with metal things that are on my pockets when getting in and out of cars. (i never noticed that that part of my body touched steering wheels, but it comes close enough that any metal sickting out does.) So the outward part being bet outward is what made me try smoething else. Not as fast in deployment, but i bought myself some 350 (?) paracord (the thinner one) and i made a loop that i attacked to the pocket knife. So there's the knots attaching the paracord to the keyring, then a little bit of paracord, and a loop big enough that the knife can fit through. The loop goes behind the belt and then the knife and it attachement through the loop and with a few tries i got the length of the whole thing to fit so it stays vertical in the pocket. To get it off i either have to thread it back throught the loop, = first version i made, or take it off the tiny carabiner i now attached the paracord to and the tiny carabiner to the knife.
I'm another Nano clip convert, in my case thanks to @jongadget! I've carried a Victorinox Executive for something like 30 years, before that I carried the tiny Victorinox SD Classic. I used to carry it in my left pocket with my keys and now find it works better clipped inside my right pocket.
