For almost 2 years I've been dealing with motor problems. Turned out to be nothing wrong, just need to use all the parts they give you! E Tech running rough, shut down mode, overheating, stalling.
So on my two-year-old 90 hp Evinrude ETEC❤️🔥 I EVERY TIME I start the motor I wanna make sure it’s pumping and with that telltale stream come straight out behind the motor. You have to walk back in the boat to see it so what I did as I bought One 8th inch threaded fitting and in that I put a piece of copper tubing that was 2 inches long and I bent it and 90° so I have it pissing water six or 8 feet out to the right or left side of my boat whatever side I wanted it on, so not only can I see it easily I can hear it hitting the water so I know it’s pumping anyway just my thought! Set my mind at ease every time I start the motor I KNOW IT’S PUMPING❤️🔥
Just for the sake of information, not all of the engines need or have the water flow restricter. Only those with certain VSTs. There was a service bulletin put out by Evinrude concerning the VSTs (an updated version for certain engines) and the kit, which included the restricter.
@@FRERABRETZ1 Sorry, I must have missed where anyone asked for your opinion. . . But, apparently you believe it is very, very important and must be shared. . .
FRERABURP who the hell asked for you opinion? I still run two 90 hp Etecs and as a retired boater I can assure you that my etecs outperform any other outboard I have ever used. I just swapped out a 90hp merc 4 stroke for an Etec and boat is now awesome. If you ever get the chance to go for a boat ride make sure it has an Etec

I just changed that little plug to the gray flush out plug and when I was out it struggled a few times to start. I had to floor it and the oil light came in and it's full. It went out after a minute or so. Do you think it could be from changing that flush out plug.
I have no idea if it wasn’t broke before I wouldn’t try to fix it. But that gray flush out plug is not meant to be run. I don’t think I’m definitely not a mechanic.
It is only used on engines with the newer / updated Vapor Separator that has the enclosed fuel pump. It is needed to help cool it. It is included with the new style vapor separator kit.
Your right, I have two etecs and the newer one with the larger combined VS has a restrictor, the earlier engine with the separated VS has no restrictor
How do you flush your motor since you leave it in the water. And they where supposed to sell that property for millions I wonder if the contract fell through.
Thankyou for that I'm from Downunder and have 175 etec 2007 mod .when l start the engine and idle for a couple of minutes the overheat alarm goes off .l also dont have a restrictor on my motor .but l will definitely buy one now once again Thankyou
Waterflow Restrictor is 360520. However, there is an o ring that has to go in first, PN 360529. These parts come included with the new style Vapor Separator Kit. PN 5010818. When they changed the style and manufacture of the VS they apparently decided the waterflow needed to be slowed to allow it to cool better. If you do not have the new style VS, then you are not supposed to run the restrictor.

Just for the sake of information I would not let anyone even give me an evinrude let alone would I pay for one, what a piece of sh1t those things are.

I have same problem with my 2006 115 Etec. By any chance to do you have part number for that fitting? Struggling to find it online to order.
Nvm I found it thanks to DolphinWatch comment below. This helps a lot! Hopefully this does the trick, thanks!

I have a similar 2006 90HP etec, but don’t see that part listed in any diagrams, mine also doesn’t have it, maybe it’s not included in our models?
could be I'm not sure

My 2008 90 E-Tec I bought new. Must not have that in it from the factory. As its always just spilled water out. Never has put out a stream.
My 2010 has the restrictor and the 2008 doesn’t

Not sure about the place being sold. I flush it every trip with harbor water lol.
Whats the part number?
Not sure the dealer gave it to me
brp-360520 Restrictor & BRP-360529 O-ring

No I don’t. Try looking up the tell tale assembly.
