Potential history you are a cod zombies fan what the fuck. I have been watching you on and off for over a year and i never knew what the. I am so shocked and amazed omg my day has been made already and its only 12:30 am right now lol. Love uuuuuuuu
I feel like it’s also worth pointing out that dead of the night and voyage of despair are much closer in art design and style. They have a sort of fantastical early 1900’s feel. So if released as intended, the sense of escalation would be maintained, going from more grounded (ish) settings in voyage and dead of the night to the much more fantastical IX and Ancient Evil. You would also get that similar feeling to Shadows where you have a one off cast introduce to a new world. Scarlett even shows up at the end of DOTN like Richthofen at the end of Shadows. It’s just such a shame that Black Ops IV started the way it did.
It makes sense gameplay wise since DOTN is the most complex bo4 map with IX being the most simple other than classified but that’s a dlc map also they are 1910s map with the others being ancient
I've said it before and I'll say it again: bo4 trying to do two stories at once was a bad idea. They should've either abandoned aether and go full in with chaos, or finish up the aether story and then move into chaos in the next game.
I love the contrast between Voyage and 9. One is extremely isolated and makes you feel very alone and the other feels so alive with the crowded atmosphere. Just shows the range this gameode can do.
Rizzo, no joke you've made me respect both Chaos and Saw a lot more than I use to. Your reviews on DOTN and AE have given me new insight on the maps and story. I'm actually genuinely saddened that Chaos might not return, especially since AE introduced Medusa as the main antagonist. I kinda wanted to see where the story would go. (Also Scarlett Rhodes wink wink) In the past I genuinely thought every movie after Saw 1 was just a cash cow like every other horror movie franchise sequel. After hearing you praise your love for the franchise and talk about how you're making a review I've decided to give them a chance since I tend to think of myself as a film buff and after two weeks I've seen every movie! Saw Ranking: Saw Saw III Saw II Saw VI Saw IV Saw V (They kinda feel like one movie tbh) Saw 3D Jigsaw I can't wait for the Saw Retrospective!
That's exactly how I feel. After looking at the stuff John puts on his twitter, I felt completely out of the loop. I decided to watch the Saw movies to feel like I'm a part of the Rizzo community and I gotta say, it was worth it! I was always interested in the movies because my mom had all the movies and she loves horror films, so when i asked my mom if it was okay for me to go through her collection of movies, she was really happy. So not only did i get a chance to enjoy a well-written movie franchise I missed out on watching sooner, but I got a chance to bond with my mom some more.
@@mybadcarter Yeah same! I still feel like Lionsgate still meant for the Saw franchise to be their cash cow, but the writers and directors making the films were like "Let's make sure the story is still good." (Except for Saw3D and especially Jigsaw, those were tragedies.)
I honestly didn't hate BO4 Zombies. In fact, I've never hated any Zombies mode. No matter how flawed some may be, I could still find enjoyment in them because the core of the Zombies mode itself is so good. I'm lookin' forward to Cold War and am excited for your review.
BO4's zombies mode, in my perspective, is the most fun because it offers the most gameplay interaction. Cool amazing weapons and tough enemies to use them on. They heavily focused on the content up until Ancient Evil, like the Catalysts were one of my favorite additions and it's a shame we never get to see them again.
Love this review. I will say though, I'd love to see a review of Mob of the Dead at some point whenever it tickles your fancy, mostly because I don't want you to suffer through a map you don't care too much about, and also because I'm genuinely curious what all you like about it. Genuinely enjoy all of bo4 unpopular opinion but yeah :P Fighting on the Titanic for me just feels good and being OP in a horde base mode is fun even if the progression isn't long its nice to see a game where high rounds can start fairly early
I'll miss Chaos. The only thing I didn't like was the catalyst zombies. Literally everything else I adored. Even this map and DOTN id rate above every Aether map in BO4. The aesthetic, more, map layouts, and main quests are all some of my favorites. Plus it justified the 4 perk BO4 thing.
I really appreciate the hard work but laid back feel of Rizzo's videos. They are professional but they also feel genuine. It's rare to see channels like these but they are always my favorites
Great video, Rizzo - and amazing editing this time around. I mean, it always is, but this one was next level. I really want to comment on your "dominant strategy" topic. This is something I've talked about for years with people, but no one agrees with me. Imo, Gumballs ruined BO3. The classic "don't like em, don't use em" argument simply doesn't work for me. The reason is because it doesn't matter if you USE them or not - it's the fact that they exist as a gameplay feature. You can say the "don't like em don't use em" on anything, yet I only see people use this argument on Gumballs. If a map is too easy, I've never heard people say "Well just don't buy Jugg, duh. You don't HAVE to use it". For example: The perk-bottle EE on Shangri-La where a Monkey transforms a Max Ammo into a perk is something I always went for in BO1, because it can be tricky yet it's rewarding. In BO3, I did this once, and never again, simply because I didn't feel satisfied. Why? Because I KNOW that I can just hold Square on Round 1 and get all perks for free. Use it, not use it, doesn't matter. Why would I go for this monkey EE when there's a much, much easier way? Let's say you had a map with a fairly long side quest, but you got rewarded with the Thunder Gun. That's fun and rewarding, right? Now, imagine that on the same map, you can buy the Thunder Gun off the wall for 10 points. You don't HAVE to buy it off the wall... But why would you put yourself through the quest when it's totally uncececarry? Games need barriers, otherwise the satisfaction isn't there if you just try to make it harder yourself.
I absolutely love this map. This was the one I played constantly when the game released and I could never understand why everyone else didn't like the map
I honestly think it's because people listen to what others say and just follow that, i was one of them. I saw people saying VOD is the most complex and annoying map and just followed that. I recently started playing it again and figuring out some of the ee by myself and my god is this map beautiful. The layout is so perfectly thought about, shortcuts where they fit in, fast travels to every single point on the ship, YOU CAN GET THE WW by filling 3 chestss!!!! and it's in the box. So good and so much effort put in just to be trashed by some youtubers
This was great. Like all your other reviews, it makes find out stuff about the modes and maps that I didn’t even know were there. I can’t wait to watch your Saw series review since you got me into the franchise.
The zombie respawn mechanics are so infuriating it makes me think "how did I die there was no zombies in my way" instead of "I got trapped in a corner and could've used my wonder weapon instead of just trying to one man them with a Dingo"

The editing quality is so immensely flawless I cant believe this level of quality existed and I'm just now finding it. Not only is the video editing and video itself superb, the person behind it (aka you) has such a expert way of delivering what you're talking about with a bunch of passionate personality to back it up. No singular thing is carrying the content, everything is equally carrying the content.
I completely agree with rizzos comments on scarlet she kinda reminds me of how alice from the resident evil movies constantly has to do cool shit and is just a bad lead.

A really great and Fair take on this map :D But I have to disagree my friend I really liked Scarlett! Her dialogue was fantastic and I was enammerd by the mystery of her father. Your takes are all fair man. Great video
Good video, but I feel like you could given more evidence for why you disliked scarlet. I never ready paid attention to the chaos storyline when I was playing them and didn’t know she was so unlike able. So when you said she was a Mary Sue I was hoping for some lines of dialogue or any evidence of her marysueness.

Tranzit is so popular and many people started zombies with it so nostalgia will make people buy the game chaos will remind ppl of bo4 and whilst I personally think bo4 is great it wouldn’t sell well
Still to this day "oh s***" is what I mutter when a blightfather comes through. They actually did a good job with this one as compared to say Brutus from MOTD blightfather is terrifying
I do wonder what might've been if they had changed Scarlett a little and made her a bit similar to Misty. That no nonsense badass who's dealing with the disappearance of her father. She could be that jokester who's got depressing jokes, talking about how hopeless their situation is, but in a jokey form. She leads the group, because no one else will. The others could bounce off of her, with Diego trying to womanise her, but also keeping her spirits high. Shaw could try to help her feel better, reminding her that they will find her father. And with Bruno being the quieter, dry humoured of the group, he could talk straight to her. In short, while she could be almost depressing at times, playing her should be that case of "If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me. But I ain't going down." kinda feel. Moving on from Voyage, she could grow more and more each map, to be more confident, less depressing and lean fully into that "I'm going to get my father back, no matter what." side of things. I think seeing her grow, and the others almost mellow out their bad sides, would've made the crew more enjoyable
voyage was the best chaos map. no stupid dog rounds, great wonder weapon, characters, decent layout. kinda depressing but still it's the titanic it was great

Honestly I think the biggest problem beside in game progression at least in my opinion is that they focused on two different stories honestly after ancient evil I wanted to know what happen next
I went to the Titanic Museum in Ireland and there was a room that digitally recreates the Titanic and man is it obvious that someone in Treyarc went there because it was uncanny how much I could recognize my way around it due to my Voyage map knowledge, the major changes they did made sense gameplay-wise such as making the Bedrooms and hallways slightly wider, and the engine walkways bigger (they were TINY in the actual ship)
Blundell did an interview pre-launch where he was talking about how they took a small team to one of the "sister-ships" of the Titanic. I can't exactly remember the name but they went in there to take pictures and record sounds just like they did with MOTD.
Any time I see a single glimpse of Willard Wyler, his entire mysterious bullshit dialogue just PHASES into my brain. "DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT HAS TAKEN PLACE? YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE MAGNITUDE OF WHAT YOU'RE DEALING WITH!"
I do have one question Rizzo. Do you plan to make more Dead by daylight stuff? The reason why I asked is because the last time i ask you about it, which was when ghostface was first coming out, you seemed to really like playing the game. And now that a FNAF character (Which i don't believe in some form will come but it would be funny as hell if it did.) as a killer is coming out. Do you plan to maybe Play it more? Maybe make guides or shitposts? That's all i wanted to ask. Keep up the good work you goofy dude.
"This map is too hard!" When did the Zombies community become such babies? Of the 4 starting maps, is the second easiest to play behind Five which was a reimagined map to begin with. Yeah, the EE was obtuse, but you don't even need to play it to get to high rounds.
Exo Zombies and BO4 Zombies (i can't even remember the name of the fucking saga/series.) Were seriously interesting takes on Zombies, but were bogged down by so many different aspects that the potential it has gets squandered by the negative response. Therefore, they won't likely be making any maps under this saga again. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Tbh, I don’t think you seem conceited by being proud of your work. You’re damn good at what you do, and I’m really excited for your saw retrospective because I’ve been thinking of getting into the saw franchise for a while, but my personal fave is still the Friday the 13th franchise. i literally did that cataclysm challenge two weeks ago when i was playing this game again, and i first played on Dead of the Night, but didn't even get a third of the way done by round 20.
Growing up, I fixated on Titanic and COD Zombies. I always thought a map on it would be amazing. You can imagine my disappointment when I learned it’s considered one of the worst maps in BO4. To be fair, it IS quite accurate to the actual ship, so that’s a plus.
I also really liked the characters of Chaos and the map Voyage, but everything you've said is so true that explained why I really disliked Black Ops 4 as a Zombie game. A shame we won't get to see the cast again because I would of loved to see where Treyarch would go with the storyline of the Chaos crew, so let's hope that what we'll get in Cold War might be something like the characters in this game but executed better. Same with the mechanics, those respawns are atrocious. Also, I look forward to the Saw series retrospect. It makes me want to do a big ass project on one of my favorite video game series one day, if I'm being honest.
I did this main quest without ever going down. Clutched up for the boys big time, one of my favourite memories playing zombies. Sad this story and game got such poor treatment. At the time RDR2 was coming out in October and the studio was worried everyone would be too invested playing that game it would affect the sales of BO4. When you talk about the botched release of the game it always makes me upset because of all the potential this game had and how drastically they moved on from this game. I still want chaos continued zombies chronicles 2 and blackout 2 but it ain’t gonna ever happen

Scarlet and Misty would've benefitted from being in the opposite crews. Misty is over the top, fun and a badass who has a menagerie of great lines; but she's put with a crew whose primarily overly serious like Marlton and Stuhlinger. Russman is the outlier. Scarlet is overly serious, stern and a badass with no qualms making her voice the loudest, yet she's stuck with the wacky, zaney Chaos crew especially with the likes of Shaw. It's a bit like of Borderlands put Zane in B1; and Roland into B3. The personalities of each character clash drastically with the tones being set by everyone else.
I was really hopeful of Chaos, I never hated it, I hated BO4 because it disappointed me more and more as the season went on and reminded me why I never bought Season Passes before all the maps came out until IW, I know now why it turned out so crap, but its still left me ambivalent, to the point that I bought WW2 (which I had previously ignored) and have been having a blast with it
Excelent video, the editing was great and those shots damn... by the way seeing Chaos getting killed by it's own marketing and everything around it was so bad to watch back then
I could never get into any of the chaos maps because they always felt cluttered to me. There's so many special enemy types, Voyage was cramped, there were so many side Easter eggs in DotN, IX was good, but I was already done with Chaos by the time Ancient Evil came out so I've only played it like 5 times max.
The map design was fine, even the point system and enemies were fine as well. What was never ok about all of Black Ops 4 zombies was the enemy spawns. That one simple aspect from being in front of the player far away to teleporting animations that were busted just ruined the experience. Take that shit back to the old system, add actual reparable windows that mattered in tight places and I’d honestly have very little to complain about in zombies for most maps in BO4.

I’ve always thought that the spawn rates of the Catalysts were upped on Voyage for the Kraken upgrades to be more easily accessible.

As a long time zombies player, I really loved voyage of despair. Its ambience is one of the best ever in zombies imo.
This was a pleasant surprise to find in my notifications tab. Good video, Rizzo. I really enjoyed it and I just wanna say that Nick was wrong in the exo leftovers when he said that he was the funniest. Sam is the funniest and I lol every time he speaks

Good video, but I feel like you could given more evidence for why you disliked scarlet. I never ready paid attention to the chaos storyline when I was playing them and didn’t know she was so unlike able. So when you said she was a Mary Sue I was hoping for some lines of dialogue or any evidence of her marysueness.

I do wonder what might've been if they had changed Scarlett a little and made her a bit similar to Misty. That no nonsense badass who's dealing with the disappearance of her father. She could be that jokester who's got depressing jokes, talking about how hopeless their situation is, but in a jokey form. She leads the group, because no one else will. The others could bounce off of her, with Diego trying to womanise her, but also keeping her spirits high. Shaw could try to help her feel better, reminding her that they will find her father. And with Bruno being the quieter, dry humoured of the group, he could talk straight to her. In short, while she could be almost depressing at times, playing her should be that case of "If I'm going down, I'm taking you with me. But I ain't going down." kinda feel.
Moving on from Voyage, she could grow more and more each map, to be more confident, less depressing and lean fully into that "I'm going to get my father back, no matter what." side of things. I think seeing her grow, and the others almost mellow out their bad sides, would've made the crew more enjoyable

I went to the Titanic Museum in Ireland and there was a room that digitally recreates the Titanic and man is it obvious that someone in Treyarc went there because it was uncanny how much I could recognize my way around it due to my Voyage map knowledge, the major changes they did made sense gameplay-wise such as making the Bedrooms and hallways slightly wider, and the engine walkways bigger (they were TINY in the actual ship)
Blundell did an interview pre-launch where he was talking about how they took a small team to one of the "sister-ships" of the Titanic. I can't exactly remember the name but they went in there to take pictures and record sounds just like they did with MOTD.

When did the Zombies community become such babies? Of the 4 starting maps, is the second easiest to play behind Five which was a reimagined map to begin with. Yeah, the EE was obtuse, but you don't even need to play it to get to high rounds.

Exo Zombies and BO4 Zombies (i can't even remember the name of the fucking saga/series.) Were seriously interesting takes on Zombies, but were bogged down by so many different aspects that the potential it has gets squandered by the negative response. Therefore, they won't likely be making any maps under this saga again. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they did.
Tbh, I don’t think you seem conceited by being proud of your work. You’re damn good at what you do, and I’m really excited for your saw retrospective because I’ve been thinking of getting into the saw franchise for a while, but my personal fave is still the Friday the 13th franchise. i literally did that cataclysm challenge two weeks ago when i was playing this game again, and i first played on Dead of the Night, but didn't even get a third of the way done by round 20.
Growing up, I fixated on Titanic and COD Zombies. I always thought a map on it would be amazing. You can imagine my disappointment when I learned it’s considered one of the worst maps in BO4.
To be fair, it IS quite accurate to the actual ship, so that’s a plus.
I also really liked the characters of Chaos and the map Voyage, but everything you've said is so true that explained why I really disliked Black Ops 4 as a Zombie game. A shame we won't get to see the cast again because I would of loved to see where Treyarch would go with the storyline of the Chaos crew, so let's hope that what we'll get in Cold War might be something like the characters in this game but executed better. Same with the mechanics, those respawns are atrocious.
Also, I look forward to the Saw series retrospect. It makes me want to do a big ass project on one of my favorite video game series one day, if I'm being honest.

I did this main quest without ever going down. Clutched up for the boys big time, one of my favourite memories playing zombies. Sad this story and game got such poor treatment. At the time RDR2 was coming out in October and the studio was worried everyone would be too invested playing that game it would affect the sales of BO4. When you talk about the botched release of the game it always makes me upset because of all the potential this game had and how drastically they moved on from this game. I still want chaos continued zombies chronicles 2 and blackout 2 but it ain’t gonna ever happen

Scarlet and Misty would've benefitted from being in the opposite crews.
Misty is over the top, fun and a badass who has a menagerie of great lines; but she's put with a crew whose primarily overly serious like Marlton and Stuhlinger. Russman is the outlier.
Scarlet is overly serious, stern and a badass with no qualms making her voice the loudest, yet she's stuck with the wacky, zaney Chaos crew especially with the likes of Shaw.
It's a bit like of Borderlands put Zane in B1; and Roland into B3. The personalities of each character clash drastically with the tones being set by everyone else.

I was really hopeful of Chaos, I never hated it, I hated BO4 because it disappointed me more and more as the season went on and reminded me why I never bought Season Passes before all the maps came out until IW, I know now why it turned out so crap, but its still left me ambivalent, to the point that I bought WW2 (which I had previously ignored) and have been having a blast with it
Excelent video, the editing was great and those shots damn... by the way seeing Chaos getting killed by it's own marketing and everything around it was so bad to watch back then

I could never get into any of the chaos maps because they always felt cluttered to me. There's so many special enemy types, Voyage was cramped, there were so many side Easter eggs in DotN, IX was good, but I was already done with Chaos by the time Ancient Evil came out so I've only played it like 5 times max.

The map design was fine, even the point system and enemies were fine as well. What was never ok about all of Black Ops 4 zombies was the enemy spawns. That one simple aspect from being in front of the player far away to teleporting animations that were busted just ruined the experience. Take that shit back to the old system, add actual reparable windows that mattered in tight places and I’d honestly have very little to complain about in zombies for most maps in BO4.
