Golden! "Life is like a toilet roll - the closer you are towards the end, the faster it runs out".

It was my manager at work who said that to me. She is a life coach now, I actually learn't so much from her on outlook on life and work I wish I was still in contact so I could thank her.

I'm 66years old and suffering from ME/Chronic Fatigue, which I've had for five years, and unable to go for walks. But it was very helpful for me to hear you talking about having to make allowances for getting older. I have convinced myself that if only I was well I'd be able to do what I could five years ago, but that wouldnt be taking into account that I am an old lady now! So thank you.

You are welcome. Age comes to us all, some of us can keep going longer than others but its going to get us all eventually!

    Good advice.
I am 71 but still think I am in my twenty’s😂
Still enjoy going walkabout in the wild and woolly bits of the UK.

That's great to hear. I'm hoping when I (eventually) retire I'll still have enough get up and go to continue.

You've obviously put a lot of effort into improving your video quality , well done fella and good luck.

Much appreciated. Yes, I made a pretty significant investment in camera kit in the last couple of months. Partly for video quality, partly to focus me on paying closer attention to what is around me and encourage me to get out more and use it.

I am 53 and still get on my overnighters very spontaneously as my plans never work out 😂 However, I have destinations in my mind which are manageable for my fitness. I always avoid heat and much UV light btw - really knocked me out one time

I know what you mean, being a 'large' guy myself I'm prone to heat injury now so its something I'm always wary of. yeah, if you can do stuff well within your fitness....and you do it regularly that's no drama. Its when you've not been out in 6 months and suddenly that hill feels a lot steeper than you remember.

The best advice I can give you is don't overthink it. The hardest bit is leaving the house, once you are there you deal with any bits that come up and bad decisions and disasters make the BEST stories!

I’m 59 only took up hiking in October last after a week in The Lakes. Came back to Kent bought lots of gear now every week I do generally 5 to 7 mile hikes with my dog it’s quite strenuous for me but love it.
I’m hoping to do the Surrey Three Hills Challenge in a few months. Also intending to start doing a few wild camps. My fitness level is OK ish it’s my flexibility that lets me down although I work on that nearly everyday.
      Great informative video

The ageing process plus wear & tear gets us all eventually, nobody is getting out of this alive! Some of us are luckier with genetics or job/choice has allowed them to live more active lives which can also prolong how long we remain fully active, but if you can still do everything at 60 you could at 18 you are doing well either way!
