  • This video shows how to install an aftermarket Android Auto/ Apple Car Play box in a 2nd Generation Nissan Armada, Y62 Patrol, QX80 Infiniti. I can't endorse this supplier of this particular Android Auto box but it did work for about week or two, then it started having issues. I would get constant pop-ups on my phone for app connecting. I ended up deleting one of the connection apps. Z-Link was the go to app on this box for connecting but would only connect with a wired connection. After I deleted the problem app, I was only getting sound out of the small speaker. I disconnected the speaker and got no sound at all- even after doing a complete reset of the Android auto box, attempted updates and tweaking the settings in all different ways. E-mailing the supplier was a dead end. I would like to know if anyone has tried this install and if it has worked for you. When in doubt, figure it out. Good luck with your next project! How disappointing! I have the same Nissan and am considering adding android audio. I'll have to reconsider after watching this video. Have you found a different solution?

No, I haven't found another solution. The cell phone keeps updating Android Auto on a regular basis. In my opinion, whatever box you buy would be obsolete or not working after some point in time. Possibly in the future, there will be an aftermarket stereo and kit that can integrate with Nissan's systems. Name band aftermarket stereos should have more reliable updates if there's any issues. Right now, I'm using a silicone phone holder mount on the dash or just Bluetoothing the audio from the phone. Nissan has a navigation system, but I don't opt for the service. Thanks for the question, and if you come up with a solution, I'd like to hear about it. Good luck with your projects!- Mike

Where does one shop for the kits that you used?

I bought them off of Ebay and it was from a company from Australia. There may be better options than the ones I had to choose from. Good luck with your project!- Mike
