Loving that Great Sage is flawed and getting a bit of character. Also interesting to see that Rimiru is regarding it/her as a person instead of a tool.
one thing i've always loved about slime is they know how to handle the antagonist's backstories and motivations. vesta was a man who tried so hard to please the person he admired that somewhere along the way it was warped. shizu never even wanted to come to this world in the first place and was forced to do atrocious things for most of her early life which she tried to make up for in the following decades. geld was a king who was willing to go to any lengths to save his brethren, even if that meant taking the devil's hand. even gabil only did what he did because he was misguided, used, and underestimated his enemy. it wasn't so much that he just wanted the throne and power that came with it but he truly thought what he was doing was what's best for his race. i think what really makes all of them good (at the very least better than average) villains/antagonists is simply because none of them ever actually wanted to become the villain. none of them are evil for evil's sake.

I loved this episode because they changed the interactions between Geld and Rimuru because during the fight they changed the dialogue from the manga and I love that because it keeps the show fresh and I love TTRS for doing this
How to make an good ending of the villain characters: Put the line "now you're free" or "you had enough, you can rest" at the end of their scene. Jk, but it's effective on me.
There are two reason why rimuru wins in eating contest. 1st "Starving One" was inferior to Rimuru's "Predator". 2nd was Geld stop resisting at the end when rimuru said that he will eat all his sins. EDIT : don't read here There's a lot of spoiler.
SoloTOV sorry my bad I am not a native English speaker and even if I should know better, in my head the words inferior and superior just switch. Again, I am sorry for writing before thinking enough and I am feeling fucking stupid right now.
I think you got one thing backwards, Geld didn’t ask Rimuru to take the sins of his people. He only stated his worry that if he died his sins would fall to his people, which was why he was fighting so hard. Rimuru offered to devour the sins on his own, and that was what gave Geld the peace of mind to allow himself to die.

I'm still amazed at the fact that all these episodes had only covered 2 volumes of the LN (there are still a chapter and an epilogue remaining of volume two). What a fantastic adaptation this is.
Geld feeding those 3 starving orc children with his arm is a reference to Dante’s Inferno, specifically one of the inhabitants of the 9th circle of hell who sacrificed themselves to feed 3 children, I believe. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
I like how where Ainz has loyal followers from the get go, Rimiru had to work to earn their trust. Same to come with Shield Hero. Geld's backstory was actually pretty short, but it was long enough to get us invested in his passing. There's also Mob Psycho to watch, not a bad way to start 2019.
When I heard this series was getting an anime, this is where I thought it would end. Back then I didn't know the series would have 24 episodes, so I thought this would be the best ending for 12. When I saw the first episode, the intro surprised me by showing things that I would expect further down the line and then I learned this series had 24 episodes. I still thought this would end up taking place 2 episodes ago, but after seeing everything in this arc, I'm extremely happy with the pacing, them taking their time with this story has really been worth it. The story has been adapted beautifully so far. So far, my only concern is what the anime will cover in the next 10 episodes, whether it will have filler or not, and if it will have another season, but those are things to be covered on another forum, as to not spoil the story for those anime only people.
It is clearly popular enough for a second season. I doubt it will go to Volume 5 as I heard some information that the person Rimuru was fight and the Shadow smiling guy were just teasers. I guess it will go until Volume 4, though, apparently the voice actor was picked for them... maybe they are already in work for a season 2 or (more accurately) are Preparing for season 2. Let me tell you mate, shite gets dark and Rimuru gets boss.
Geld kind of reminds me of the "Bad guys" in Star Ocean 3. They kept raiding the peaceful valley kingdom form the mountains every year, so their are the Bad Guys. Than you find out that the mountains may be rich in resources but has very little farmland and the valley kingdom refuses to trade with them. So they raid for food every year because kingdom would rather horde the food and watch them starve. Famine can make anyone do make people do bad things in order to survive.
@@nicohimxe5004 Actually, he uses it once, kinda, when he's fighting two enemies that are well too powerful but he still has a nice chance of victory, so he lets "Great Sage" taking care of defense against one while he focuses on the another.
@@nicohimxe5004 I think against veldora's older sister and a kings navil fleet that captured veldora and used his power. Veldora is the only young brother in his family, so needless to say, his sisters like to use him
The show *very much* I think showed how being the Orc Lord had messed with his intelligence and made him dull and slow. It also made it clear how he regained his senses become the Orc Disaster. He also isn't *entirely* a savage cause of the arm ripping thing, as it regenerated and he knew it would. But that's still pretty fucking bad ass.
lgabrielcs Not a guess, I’ve been reading this series since 2014. Or was it 2015? Anyway it was before the anime was announced. My friend introduced me to the web novel the. I found the manga. Really wanted the Harvest Festival to be animated too. Oh well, maybe in Season 2.
*sad music* "ok you're not gonna do this" *geld starts having a flashback* "no way you're not actually gonna fucking do this" *starts to explain his background* "why did I not see this coming gODDAMMIT I'M NOT FALLING FOR THIS--"
Some villain was never evil, the orc was aware of his sins and doesn't know what to do other than eating because of the Starve, all he cared is for his brethren to prosper, in the op and ed, you can see rimuru came and turn any disaster into a vast grass field, which is beautifully presented in this episode as well
Geld was still a Demon Lord Seed, though, not even a True Demon Lord, but he was probably strong enough to be accepted as a Demon Lord. In 2 or 3 episodes, they'll explain a bit about how Demon Lord politics work.
Great Sage fighting was the highlight of this episode for me. The way she toke over and Rimiru taking a back seat to watch + the music and sound effects were amazing! Wtb more Great Sage battlemode.
Kinda lost me in the beginning cuz geld never offers his sins while being devoured he struggled saying "I can't die otherwise my sins will fall on my ppl" (you nailed the part about the sins I just thought about the starved effect) rimiru said he would "devour his sins along with him" geld looks up and says your "greedy huh" and rimiru replies "yeah I am" after which geld gives in and succumbs to peace and he thanks rimiru for what he's done. the beginning of your vid was way different from what I experienced
3:23 i think it was said clearer in the WN, but when he asked it he was also implying if "The Starving Ones"' effect would end. Because that means his people would be saved from starvation and hunger, which was his wish. To clarify, "The Starving Ones" is a skill which makes hi and his subjects absorb the skill of creatures they eat, but it has the side effect of making them always starve.
Dont know for sure, but Im like 99% he's going to let the orcs join his village :p He basically absorbed their leader, and he has that tendency to unite the world.
It's was a sad episode to see how far he would go for his people n I'm glad the ogres are staying with him n what's going to happen to the lizard guy for putting his father in jail in being a fool
Not just the pacing, storyline and fight scenes were really awesome but the Sound Effects was AMAZING as well, not many animes have such crisp and distinct sound effects in their fight scenes!
The two "OKs" are: -Recieving consent from the target Or -Being more powerful than the target Thats one other reason Rimuru was able to consume him. Orc Lord gave up the struggle. Seen also when Veldora consented to being vored.
What a FANTASTIC episode. Literally. Nearly perfect. The animation and themes nearing the end of the episode...wow. They humanized the Orc Lord in such a few short minutes and actually made me FEEL for him without overwriting his dastardly deeds.
I read the manga before all of this however this part was really touching and it was very heartwarming to me. However can't wait for what's up next in the anime because i love the reruns xD
I just got into the anime and I am absolutely loving this, it’s so clever and fun and has all this subtle hinting at something greater beyond the surface and I love it.
I hope it doesn't reach there, cause that' a lot of rushing, the author already said vol 5 of the light novel won't be adapted so i'm pretty sure it won't happen, it will go up to vol 4 though since character designs for that arc are out. The anime is probably gonna end on a cliffhanger with hinata vs rimuru.
If you like the way they handle a villain with Geld, you REALLY should keep watching. The manga haven't really gotten there yet but trust me, while Geld is done by this (pretty clean in all media forms) this style of villain is something we see a lot of... not going to reveal when and where but as I said keep watching, if the Anime does justice to the Novel then IT'S GUD!!
I don't think you'll regret it. The action is amazing, the characters are very easily liked, and as you can tell from this, even characters introduced for only a brief moment are handled with love and care. Plus, Dem tiddies tho? Oh yeah, its also a very nice concept and probably my new favorite anime.
They also changed up the ending credits. New animation/song. Now, Rimuru will have the allegiance of: Hobgoblins, Tempest Wolves, Ogres/Kijin/Oni, Orcs, (who here thinks it'd be awesome if the "super form" of them were Uruk-Hai? (I know it's not, but it's still fun to imagine.) Would be a nice LOTR reference.), and Lizardmen. Next thing we know, Rimuru will find this world's Excalibur.
@@sandenson That is way into it. Damn. Especially when you consider the anime's only on 14. Hell, if they make the whole thing into an anime, this'll be a LONG anime. Like, they'll have to take years.

I always hear people say stuff like "yeah they're not the BEST villain I've seen but I liked it" a villain doesnt have to be THE BEST on order to be good or even great. Geld was fantastically written. I loved his background and motivation and how we see as an audience that his situation was based on absolute "starvation" both figuratively and literally. Super excited to see the orcs more in the anime
The anime didn't show this however here is some information. 1) Hakuro was actually surprised at how Rimuru was moving and at his use of black flame. He even stated that it is as of Rimuru became a completely different person.. 2) Rimuru was actually suffering through a lot of pain during the devouring of Geld( Orc disaster) . He had to continuously use his skill Ultraspeed Regeneration to save himself from being devoured by Geld. 3) Rimuru himself says that if the 4 Kijin and Ranga used the same moves and skills on himself, Rimuru would be heavily injured and very close to defeat. 4) Gelmudo despite claiming that he was a high class majin. He was actually only a weak named lesser demon that evolved into greater demon after receiving his name and among the demon race, there are beings that can easily crush Gelmudo. One such would be Rimuru's "Demon Butler' even before receiving his name.
3) it's rimuru we're tlkn about , he has tendency to underestimate himself . thus we can't take his statement with a grain of salt . the kijins was unable to bypass orc disaster's regen hax , the orc disaster was unable to bypass rimuru's ultra speed regen hax . hence the kijins won't be able to beat rimuru , he will eventually outlive em just fine .
@@aiya5777 oh that is true. However Orc disaster and Rimuru were in a almost stalemate position after the intial surprise . It was only after Rimuru talked to Geld that he let himself be fully devoured by Rimuru
Just to make things clear, the demon hyerarchy (from stronger to weaker) is as follows: Demon god (there's only one demon in this tier) Demon king (aka d devil lord, do not confuse with Demon Lord) Demon duke Demon marquis Demon earl/count Demon viscount Demon baron Arch demon Demon knight Greater demon Lesser demon Gelmud was a greater demon, and the most Rimuru could probably fight and win would be an arch demon or demon knight.
@@sandenson That is true however Gelmudo was an ordinary named greater demon. The ones that will serve Rimuru all were given corporal bodies and trained to the bone. So they were elite greater demons.
this show still going on? Can someone give honest thoughts for me please. Is it worth the time? Is it worth binge watching is what I meant to ask?
It's considered the best isekai anime in a long time by many, myself included, and while it has its serious moments it's also very happy go lucky in many aspects. Basically if you want an anime that will make you smile and even cry at times, this is a must. ... It'll also make you want to DICK a slime. 😋
My guess. Slime enslaves the pigs as punishment. But like how willy wonka enslaves the oompas. Comands them to build a city and put up a big ol wall. Then those slaves evolves into soldiers and that pig with the cape becomes war lord. Slime becomes a king
WARNING! WARNING! BEST GIRL INCOMING WITHIN 5 EPISODES... all comments aside, there is that last female seen in credits so far but not in show; I think of her as Best Girl, because of what she means to the Tempest Community. If I say more I will get into spoiler territory. She shows up around the time we learn about a new threat, that is why my guess is within 5 episodes; if I am wrong it is because I am incorrectly guessing how much happens between next episode and her arrival in the forest.
@@MrStarba3 when I was reading meeting Mill made me happy because there was still at least a few that Rimuru was not stronger then... meaning that I did not need to worry that we would never get a fight that our friendly neighborhood slime was a true underdog for. Orc Disaster was not that great of a challenge just time consuming... the "purposefully not named next threat" was large fast and crazy strong but had enough exploitable weaknesses that he almost did not need help as far as I am concerned; but the next major fight I have yet to see is promising given the pattern that each is an exponent stronger than the previous, so he should be forced to get others help in the next for a finishing blow and I cannot wait.
How could you not mention when Rimiru basically told The Great Sage yeah yeah, I get it. The dejected response actually got the biggest laugh that episode
I could tell you what happens next, regarding the Orc's and Oger's/Oni's. But, I do not wish to spoil for everyone since I have read up to manga chapter 50. Also, the uncertainty of the anime going exactly as the manga is not 100%.
Well... HELL YEAHHHHH I mean um... Well it's a revenge driven emotional rollercoaster, if you're into those stuff and epic character driven story than I guess you'll like it lol.
i really hope this show gets the green light for a second season. it seems like the novel is miles ahead so i'm pretty sure theres enough material to balance out a few seasons before they have to take a break.
yah but i dont think the anime is based off the web novel which means unless the light novel is nearing completion the anime has a chance to catch up. if that happens we're going to get either a shit ending or we'll have to wait a year until the show can finish. they're doing really good with the show, much better than other novel to anime shows out there, i would hate to see it get butchered. also, if its based on the manga rather than the light novel the show will likely catch up real quick. it could be the site i use but as far as i know the manga is only on chapter 49 which at the rate the show is proceeding wont be that far away. at best i think we'd be looking at the middle of a second season to catch up to where the manga is now. unfortunately thats one of the drawbacks to sticking so closely to the source material, theres little stretch room to play around with. 14 episodes down and we're already pushing around 20 chapters in.
@@thepax6096 well true but I meant more like them as the character , their back story, motivation, not just the orcs, also all the other monsters. Usually your only dealing with human characters and their conflicts, while hear it's more monster focus and their perspective.

We have a saying in my language, goes something like "to hold on the blade". It's like you're about to fall of a cliff, and you're too desperate that you'll just grab anything even a blade that will wound you, just keep yourself from falling
In my opinion, the fight in the manga was way better and the fight in the web novel was even better than the manga. I think what I disliked about the anime was, that the auto-battle mode was such an epic cliffhanger in the manga and just some little thing in the middle of the episode in the anime. I think its mostly the little things like the geld eating his own arm to regenerate after the attacks of Rimuru people or on the web novel that Rimuru sword melted too but he just created a new one.
I know. In the manga, the auto-battle mode was so hyped up with Rimuru talking to himself about his companions are using their own abilities that's why they are so strong but he himself using his own ability now too. And it was so awesome when he switches into auto-battle and the chapter was finished.

EDIT : don't read here There's a lot of spoiler.
Dark frozen the first one isn't a reason why he won

Please correct me if I’m wrong.
you know what, back then when i'm reading the novel... I cried
when i'm reading the manga... I cried
and now this... Ah
I like how where Ainz has loyal followers from the get go, Rimiru had to work to earn their trust. Same to come with Shield Hero. Geld's backstory was actually pretty short, but it was long enough to get us invested in his passing. There's also Mob Psycho to watch, not a bad way to start 2019.
not necessarily Rimuru's followers are pretty quick to worship him.
@@pforgottonsoul Well, they have a reason.

Great episode for the year of the pig
Really oh shit

The manga haven't really gotten there yet but trust me, while Geld is done by this (pretty clean in all media forms) this style of villain is something we see a lot of... not going to reveal when and where but as I said keep watching, if the Anime does justice to the Novel then IT'S GUD!!
I have not watched this anime as yet but I want to give it a try, I hope it's good.
I don't think you'll regret it. The action is amazing, the characters are very easily liked, and as you can tell from this, even characters introduced for only a brief moment are handled with love and care. Plus, Dem tiddies tho? Oh yeah, its also a very nice concept and probably my new favorite anime.
It is great, good luck Bingeing.
This series has prob my most favorite magic circle animation, not too overly done or lacking, just perfect

3) it's rimuru we're tlkn about , he has tendency to underestimate himself . thus we can't take his statement with a grain of salt .
the kijins was unable to bypass orc disaster's regen hax ,
the orc disaster was unable to bypass rimuru's ultra speed regen hax . hence the kijins won't be able to beat rimuru , he will eventually outlive em just fine .

Demon earl/count

I'm not sure about the light novel but it shouldn't be that far behind.
yah but i dont think the anime is based off the web novel which means unless the light novel is nearing completion the anime has a chance to catch up. if that happens we're going to get either a shit ending or we'll have to wait a year until the show can finish. they're doing really good with the show, much better than other novel to anime shows out there, i would hate to see it get butchered. also, if its based on the manga rather than the light novel the show will likely catch up real quick. it could be the site i use but as far as i know the manga is only on chapter 49 which at the rate the show is proceeding wont be that far away. at best i think we'd be looking at the middle of a second season to catch up to where the manga is now. unfortunately thats one of the drawbacks to sticking so closely to the source material, theres little stretch room to play around with. 14 episodes down and we're already pushing around 20 chapters in.

I was so hyped for the auto-battle mode. They didnt do it justice in the anime.
I know. In the manga, the auto-battle mode was so hyped up with Rimuru talking to himself about his companions are using their own abilities that's why they are so strong but he himself using his own ability now too. And it was so awesome when he switches into auto-battle and the chapter was finished.
