It wasn’t a shot at Jay but it was just saying that’s the minimum you gotta have. It’s not a shot at him but he inspired that line. Nas got that corporate Hennessy check now tho...and I still ain't seen him throw a free block party yet with the NOI running security. It seems like Nas has this vision of Hip Hop...but yet I never see him do anything but talk to contribute to that vision. Jay had a corporate billion dollar vision of Hip Hop (agree with it or not) and he did things in and out of the public eye to contribute to that vision. I love Nas as an artist, but I never really hear this guy do nothing but talk, then shake hands with the dudes he was so against.

    • @NiqZStr8Kinging
      @NiqZStr8Kinging 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The media choosing to not to talk about it. But Nas was trying to get hip hop in the right direction but the industry was Turning against him. If you look at the Hennessey commercial, it's on the train going thru his home (queen bridge). Name me a jay z bud Weiser commercial talking about Brooklyn. Nas been for years trying to keep corporate out of hip hop.but he mature and got smarter and used his enemies as a foot stool. He used Hennessey to pay tribute to hip hop, he use jayz to show that good always overshadow evil. Jay know better to diss nas again.NAS OWNS THE ROC. j.cole made a song called I let nas down. And jay told cole that nas said "work out" was wack and told cole to make that song and make a better project. And plus our 2 best emcee's are nas caliber which is kendrickLamar and j.cole. so nas has tribute to hip hop in alot of ways. now jay on the other hand. He destroyed hip hop by destroying the first hip hop record label ( def jam) by destroying careers of other artist which put the east coast out of business for Atlanta to takeover and destroy rap with this trap shit. Nas tribute to the culture thru his music. He donated money to his old neighborhood. Jay hasn't done that for marcy cuz he's on his strings being controlled. When u say nas didn't tribute to hip hop it's like saying oxygen don't tribute to help us live.

    • @friendswitdadealer
      @friendswitdadealer 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Torrie Butler I never said Nas didn't contribute anything to Hip Hop. Whether Nas is big upping his hometown or not it's no different than what Hov did with Budweiser, what Kendrick's doing with Reebok, or any other artist promoting large corporations. It's all just rich folk who have nothing to do with Hip Hop leeching off the culture. They just cloud it in this pseudo conscious love for Hip Hop in their ads to get us to buy they shit. Actually Nas along with Hip Hop are being used as foot stools. So basically based off one artist signed to Hov (not even his most successful artist) u say Nas owns the ROC? That makes absolutely no sense....so I guess if J Cole was signed to Young Money he would own Young Money too according to your logic. Kendrick and Cole are just as much influenced by Hov as they are Nas. The only reason people compare Cole to Nas is basically rhyme pattern. Cole is nowhere near the caliber emcee Nas is or was, and he's many steps behind Kendrick and other emcees when it comes to lyrical ability. Def Jam destroyed itself from what I remember. During The Carter Administration Def Jam experienced one of its most successful years ever. And by the time Hov took over the South was already dominating Hip Hop as they are today. If you think one city can destroy an entire musical genre then you must not think too highly of Rap music to begin with. All the South did was introduce a new aesthetic to the music, and because of the internet you're not forced to listen to it. Now I'm not one to defend Hov too much cause at the end of the day he's just a narcissistic greedy capitalist. But he has given back to Marcy and many other places around the world. All rich folk donate to or start charities cause philanthropy is the gateway to power. Plus its a great tax write off. Nas is not all that different from Hov and once him n Hov somewhat joined forces it really got exposed. Nas jumped on that corporate machine n hasn't looked back since.

    • @NiqZStr8Kinging
      @NiqZStr8Kinging 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +FriendsWit DaDealer your right he did jump on the corporate machine but Iike I said he use them as a foot stool to brand hip hop becuz over a period of time people forgot what hip hop really is becuz of what the south put in front of our faces which is really Gangsta R&B. They label artist like fetty wap, future and Travis Porter hip hop. Nas was trying to show where hip hop came from and how it was created. Nas didn't do any of his commercials in any fashion. His sprite and his Hennessey commercial contain to hip hop. and yes you did try to say nas didn't tribute to hip hop. I know there's culture vultures but Nas handled business with them about his ideas jay just settled for whatever. And hip hop artists are not foot stools. When the whole culture started an Hip hop label to commercialize the music. A foot stool can't walk but the person can. we can easily take our culture back by Makin it a neighborhood thing again. becuz at first they did'nt even want hip hop on the radio and now it's 40 years that this genre has dominated music period.we got these culture vultures sons and daughters listen to our music and getting destroyed from it much as we are. so we're even. oh yeah by the way Nas do own the roc not contact wise but influential wise. Nas got jay shook. If nas don't like something that a roc artist did and let it be known, jay will correct the problem becuz he don't want the radio the hype up another beef between them again off of nas rants and plus jay don't have that 8 ball to try to expose nas like he tried to do before and failed. I know j.cole ain't near as great as nas was and not better than kendrick but he is in that position to give people knowledge like nas was coming up. Def Jam didn't destroy it's self. Jay did put money into artist like ll cool j, nas, redman and method man that keep hip hop alive. but yet he spent it on his brick album kingdom come which was 20 million. now jay paid the money back but those artist missed their moment to be hot. Becuz when their hot, hip hop is hip hop. becuz of jay ignorance we no longer have an eastcoast impact. but it was a culture vulture (lyor) that was working thru jay z to destroy the label becuz he was bitter that they fired him. bet you didn't know that. Hip Hop is not a foot stool to culture vultures, Jay is. I know you defending, you simply another jay z fan that can't see the light that he is not perfect as you think he is. You can't lie, you are sitting here calling him hov. do he pay your bills, NO, YOU PAYING HIS. He has not given money back to marcy. The city rebuild marcy into a suburb now. He work with bill gates to give Africa contaminated water. Their using him as a foot stool. Our government been trying to get Africa so if we ever made up our mind to go back, we will still be in their control. that was the shit that nas was trying to tell us on "it was written" on "if I rule the world". Their feeding us this trap / gangsta r&b to keep our minds from their plans. But you sitting up here trying to correct me problem listen to jay thru your headphones and not comprehending on what I'm saying. that luxury rap was suppose to been dead after biggie 's death and mase retirement. but jay z, cash money records and etc. kept it alive. puff was inspired by both big and mase and open the door for jay on no way out so he can come in in 98 along wit cash money to bring in the bling bling era. before 97 nobody was talking luxury in their music. It was all Gangsta Rap. and after pac died master p was talking over the gangsta rap while jay was picking up after biggie. dmx, meth and red, onxy wasn't talking luxury in their raps, jay was. But it's alright to be a jay fan but don't ignore the fact when they looking at you. and y'all stop calling him Hov. it sounds gay to me. It like calling another man your daddy. that beyonce 's job.

    1000000000% agree with Nas man....what he said still go on today...If it ain't on stations it ain't hot...and you also got a shit load of niggas on those stations sounding the same on some bullshit...Fake rappers with no talent throwin up signs they dont know the history of wtf man...and yes Nas to me is one of the best MC's

    This sounds like 2002. By the way Come Home With Me is a great Hip-Hop album. Killa Cam and Dipset is great so I don't know what Nas was smoking back then.😂😂😂💯

    • @sambanelly25
      @sambanelly25 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Bobby Care I didn't say that it was better than those albums. I'm not comparing it to anything. It's just my opinion. 🤷‍♂️ All I'm saying is that its not in any way AT ALL bad the way Nas is putting it. It is one of the greatest NY Hip-Hop Albums I've ever heard and I put it on the same level as Purple Haze.🔥🔥🔥 Because it shares the same depictions of the Mafioso and street life and how the gangster way affects Cam as a whole and his life in Harlem with Dipset. Also the way he displayed the imagery via his lyrics was straight up ORIGINAL NEW YORK HIP-HOP.💯💁‍♂️ It is a very underrated album. So Nas saying that, maybe it was just him being salty at Jay-Z and The Roc Crew since Camron was in Roc-A-Fella at the time. 🤷‍♂️

    WHEW, NASIR! I've never heard this before. I'm *SOOOOO* glad you slowed his role and quit speaking out against the powers that be. As dope as you are, you could've very well ended up like Mic Geronimo and them. Outta sight, outta mind. Just blackballed. Truth is, you were the baby of the group and you were a threat. Jay-Z and them tried to mistreat and bully you. Doesn't surprise me. He always tries to phase out competition. In the end, you're still a working man in the business so play the game and just do the best that you can. Oooh, and Auntie Wendy Williams... She don't play about her job/career. All y'all muthafuckas gotta go.
