Thanks Dan. I’ll have to watch those!
I was just listening to Eddie Vedder and everyone in the comments was talking about how Into the Wild changed their lives, myself included. 💕
Ps I can’t watch Big Fish anymore. I’ve hit my capacity. I can’t take the tears. Tip- don’t watch that right after your dad dies!
@@kateashby3066 I bought an old boat and raised my son on it for 4 years after seeing Into the Wild:}
Mulholland drive is literally one of the stupidest movies to have on a list
If you liked all these you should watch The Invisible Guest! A majestic thought provoking Spanish film
Thanks will do. I enjoy international films (even if it's subtitles only), so let me know if any others come up. Thanks.
Graet list. A lot of Denis Villeneuve's films on there, absolutely love them.
I would suggest Oldboy, Edge of Tomorrow, Ender's Game and Alien.
If you're into Anime watch Satoshi Kon's films. Paprika and Millenium Actress blew me away. Haven't seen Perfect Blue yet but will get that covered soon.

Being There (1979) - Haven't heard of that one. I will have to check it out! Thanks for the suggestions.
@@wisdom-for-life, Being There is one of the greatest movies of all time. Your list is excellent but the earlier recs of David Lynch movies are must-sees, as are the above recommended TV shows Dark and 1899 (same creator), and the OA (mistyped above as the AO). Also excellent TV shows in keeping with your theme are: Amerrican Gods, Beforeigners, Messiah, Severance, Devs, Bodies (2023), Mr Robot, Brave New World (2020), The Man In The High Castle, and Counterpart. Enjoy😊

Really appreciate your list, thank you. A movie called The Possessor, is a wild movie! New Canadian movie, let me know what you think.
Cool, thank you. Will check it out and let you know.
This is a wonderful list of thought-provoking films. I am most familiar with "Dark City", one of the best films I have ever witnessed. I think "2001 A Space Odyssey", "Blade Runner [original only, not the sequel]", "Fahrenheit 451", "Donny Darko", "12 Monkeys", "Fight Club", "Minority Report", "Mysterious Skin", "Sixth Sense", and "Source Code" are almost as good. However, I wish "Matrix" had never made this list; Keanu Reeves holds the dubious distinction of receiving the Golden Raspberry Award (for _worst_ actor in a given year's releases). William Gibson's "Johnny Mnemonic" was one of the best short novels I have ever read, but the film was ruined by Keanu Reeves' horrible acting.
Brah, the girlfriend and I just watched Mysterious Skin... That was such a fuked movie, dont watch this off this dudes recommendation. Hard pass on that pos movie smh, waste of 2 hours of our lives. Its just some weird pedo movie with a shitty storyline. Now you dont have to watch it. Congrats lmfao
Instead watch Hard Candy. Thats a much better weird movie
The Truman Show
Bump
:)
Altered States
The Congress 2013
Catch me if you can
Quite exhaustive collection of very good films, with only a few I did not (yet) know. I would also recommend:
- Shutter Island (US 2010, psychothriller with Leonardo DiCaprio)
- Never Let Me Go (UK 2010, dystopian but rather slow-paced movie with Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley & Andrew Garfield)
- The Girl with all the Gifts (UK 2016, postapocalyptic horror movie)
- 28 days later (UK 2002, post-apocalyptic horror)
- 28 weeks later (UK 2007, post-apocalyptic horror)
- Rumble Fish (US 1983, by Francis Ford Coppola)
- Metropia (dystopian animation movie, Sweden / 2009)
- Akira (Japanese Cyberpunk anime, 1988)
- Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (Postapocalyptic anime, Japan 1982)
- Fantastic Planet (very weird Frensh SciFi animation movie from 1973)
- On a Silver Globe (Polish SciFi, 1988)
- Dead Man's Letters (Postapocalyptic, Soviet Union, 1986)
- It's hard to be a God (Russian SciFi, 2013)
- Paranoia 1.0 / "One Point Zero" (Cyberpunk psychothriller, filmed in Romania 2004)
Plus a couple of recommendable psycho / mystery thriller, mostly from the 1990s & 2000s:
- Jacob's Ladder
- The Manchurian Candidate
- Mystic River
- Being John Malkovich
- Paprika
- Take Shelter
- 8mm
- Room 1408
I will stop here.
