I've listened to a few PGA hacks, which I now believe Brandelis, and I am amazed at their stubbornness that they think they've won. To state that Koepka and others LIV golfers are going to be left out in the cold is the most insane talk I've heard yet.

How did they lose? They got rid of the lawsuits, got rid of LIV, kept control of the PGA Tour, and are getting a boatload of cash infused into their tournaments. It's going to come out that this was PIF's goal all along -- to strongarm their way into the PGA Tour. They used Norman and Mickelson to form a bogus league that would force the PGA Tour to defend itself in lawsuits and in the court of public opinion, for as long as it took for Monahan to heel. This was absolutely a non-hostile financial 'takeover', and Phil and Greg fell for it.

Has someone told you otherwise? It'll probably work itself out by 2024 when they're eligible, but as of now they're going to have to pay a large fine to get back in. And they may have limited access for a while for qualifying. These guys tried to bury the PGA Tour -- they are not coming back so easily.

The LIV guys "are out of a job" is some pretty ridiculous copium.
The guy who funded LIV is paying billions to the PGA Tour and is now also the chairman. There would be zero reason for him to not want Brooks, Phil, Cam, DJ, Bryson et al playing somewhere, be it LIV or the PGA Tour or both.

I don't see how the PGA Tour was in a "power position" when they were essentially the ones who folded and agreed to take the money to end the litigation they were under caused by the LIV Tour. There is 0 percent chance that the LIV players are going to be out of golf after the merger. Brandel seems really uninformed and the fact that he is acting like the sponsors of the PGA are morally perfect companies, furthermore he talks about players who joined LIV as greedy, I don't see how accepting an offer from a competitor (LIV) should be considered to be greed, it seems to me he doesn't understand how the rest of America especially corporate America works, people jump companies for a bag of money all the time being salty just makes you seem weak.

This whole clip is Brandel saying over and over again how PGAT won this and how LIV golfers shouldn't be celebrating...and then him hedging his bets with an "if I'm reading this correctly". Here's what we know. PIF will financially own the PGAT. Money rules the world. PIF has no financial reason to keep the best golfers excluded from the PGAT. PIF didn't acquire more than half a trillion in funds by being dumb with money. It's not a leap to suggest that PIF will not prevent Brooks, Bryson, DJ and the other LIV golfers from joining the PGAT as desired. Those guys helped PIF get to the negotiating table to buy the PGAT. What reason would they have for then penalizing those guys and weakening the PGAT fields? It makes no sense. Jay may want that. Rory may want that. PIF doesn't need to satisfy their wants though. I don't know what this merger is going to look like exactly, but I'm very confident that PIF cares only about money. They don't care about the feelings of the PGAT players who didn't leave for LIV. They don't care about Brandel or Jay or anyone else. They care about making as much money as they can make.

@@wadesnyder9368 - Brandel is as entitled to speculate as much as anyone else. And he's better placed to point out the potential problems than most people.
PIF's LIV enterprise was *never* going to make money in a million years. There's no way that business model could have worked. But making money wasn't the point. The Saudis think this is a good path for their sportswashing aims and were prepared to throw away a lot of endless money to achieve those aims. LIV was never going to do it, and they probably knew that from Day One.
Brandel is right to highlight the contentious issues that will inevitably arise to the further detriment of the game. He's also right that the only way that Saudi Arabia can *truly* improve their world image is to start treating human beings properly.

The PGA Tour appears unfazed by China’s appalling human rights record, which currently includes accusations of brutal persecution of its Uyghur Muslim population. The PGA Tour’s failure to file a 990 form disclosing its financial dealings with Chinese private equity firm Yao Capital As a tax-exempt organization, the PGA Tour is required to disclose such business dealings in China. It seems a clear case of the PGA Tour trying to have it both ways: gaining entry into the lucrative and largely untapped Chinese golf market, while flying under the radar of U.S. regulators and the IRS

Jay stay for a few more months, a year max posing he is trying to prevent LIV golfers to return PGA. Whether you agree with the players who took the money and left the PGA knowing they were giving up their future considerations and some cancelling their tour cards, It is not their fault that Monahan decided to merge with LIV and now everyone anti LIV are saying they got their cake and are eating it too. Monahan is the directly responsible for this as he disavowed these players and then made a deal with their boss to merge and bring them right back while the wounds were still fresh. He brought them back into the fold by partnering and he alone is the one who needs to tell all the PGA holdouts that the LIV players are not to be shunned for making a personal business decision (whether we morally agree/disagree with that decision). I hindsight you can now say that you put your allegiance in a man that sold all of you out with still no good reasoning as to why he did it. Looks like LIV has very very questionable moral issues and it seems so does the leader of the PGA at this point.

Golf's "favorite sons" have always existed, but "payola" only became a sin in golf, when another entity was offering it.
Offering larger purses, in the past, would have done nothing to stop this, because the majority of the field would still have been playing for free, while top players career's, were never in jeopardy.
