Brandel is the one who is not very bright. There is NO WAY the PIF and its director, who is Jay's boss, is going to leave Koepka and the boys hanging. He is completely off base just like he has been with everything else. I don't know if he's so arrogant or in denial or both. It's embarrassing to even listen to him at this point. Please keep these conversations so we can play them back when he's proven wrong once again.

Liv has the unlimited funds but no experience in tournament television production and presentation. It took the PGA 70 yrs of trial and error to achieve their tight broadcasts. You didnt realize how good their production value was until you watched LIV try to pull it off. That's why their viewership was pitiful. Between the enormous kitty from the Saudis and the PGA's experience in television tournaments, I'm really hoping that the product can be even better after all of the messy details are worked out.

"All about the money", to me, means that the massive money from the Saudi's is an unstoppable force. It doesn't have anything to do with the Saudis needing to profit from golf. The PGA wants the money (and the end of legal fees). The Saudis want to control their financial destiny when the oil money runs out. They are seeking a long term dominant position in sports, entertainment, luxury travel, etc.

LIV is fully aware that those PGA golfer's that defected to LIV for the money.... gave the LIV tour all the leverage it needed to tear down PGA ratings and dilute the product to the point where Saudi Arabia could sports launder it's reputation successfully and moreover buy the tour. There’s is no way that they’d risk not allowing these high profile players from getting back into the PGA Tour, especially after Phil and Brooks won recent PGA Championships (2021, 2023) and almost won the Masters. The PGA tour was being sued for Anti-Trust violations and collision with the media, sponsors and courses to prevent any LIV coverage and events. The PGA was going to lose those lawsuits. One major sponsor admitted that Jay asked him to not invest within LIV...2 weeks later the deal was done...following the money is exactly what the PGA did...and to save their business.
News flash! LIV is not going to pay money to come back. The whole reason is to “unify” and bring the best golfers back together.

I hope LIV would be converted into a structure of an F1 where the team is run by golf companies or owners. PGA would turn into a pathway system supplying LIV. Jay was never going to pay a salary for the players, PIF will not let LIV die after paying so much for players to convert. LIV is also in a position where the equipment rules can be changed so that those companies play with different prototypes. 500-yard 1-on will soon be normal.

Why would PIF end LIV after they poured billions into starting it. The more likely scenario is that they run both but don't compete. LIV players continue to play the 12 event schedule and jump in whatever PGA Tour events they wish.
Brandel is beyond stupid. The PGA’s untenable position had nothing to do with the cost of litigation. It was caused by Jay Monahan stupidly reaching out to all the governing bodies and vendors in the golf ecosphere to enlist them in his effort to strangle the LIV baby in the crib, thereby creating the specter of a classic “combination in restraint of trade,” which is an antitrust violation. If he had stuck to merely terminating the tour memberships of those who defected he might have had an arguable legal position. When he involved others, the Tour was legally dead in the water. It was going to lose and so they settled.
PGA Tour talent pool decimated. This week's Canadian Open Leaderboard looks more like a Korn Ferry event. PGA Tour needs these marquee players back. They will pay no penalties. Brandel is a nut.

I find it that when Brandel says " far reaches of the world" it comes across as very arrogant. There are players from these "far reaches " that have contributed to the pga tour over many years. Golf is a world game and needs to be seen in all parts of the world live.
If what he says is true that "Liv will end" it's because it becomes a part of the PGA tour. A season long team competition that comprises a handful of events. Hate to break it to you but the Saudis have always been in the room. A cursory internet search will show all the companies the PGA tour does business with that have Saudi money. Now we know for sure the PGA tour has it directly. You bring that up to any PGA tour anti Liv simp and you get nothing but excuses.

PGA Tour wasn't upset with Saudi money in 2010-2011 when they went to play a tournament there.

He's saying the Saudi's just wanted to own golf and help their image. They could care less who is playing. After all, Greg Norman was suppose to be the Commish at LIV, and he was told about the merger 5 mins before it happened. Chamblee is saying Jay Monahan can let play who he wants, the Saudi's don't care. They've got what they wanted now. They have BOUGHT relevance.
Saudis goal was to control the professional game of golf, in time they will do that. LIV will disappear because the players, fans and sponsors want the best against the best, no need for another tour. What happens in the short term will be interesting.
