The most bizarre thing about growing up in America is realizing we’re just as corrupt as other major countries and then realizing most people never recognize it.
We lost that Light Upon The Hill status a long time ago..
I'm always shocked when I meet people who don't realize this.. full grown adults that think the U.S. is just "the good guys" all the damn time lol
There’s a false equivalence here. I get it. America is corrupt, but there are levels to this. There are degrees and a spectrum to corruption, and it’s just not accurate to say that America is equivalent to the Saudis in this regard.
@@ATLsF1N3ST91 the corruption was coming to an end in the early 70s and then NEO-LIBERALISM arrived in the 80s and never left creating a completely corrupt society & world
I've had this same thought many times. Well said.
There is no way they should be allowed to keep their non-profit status if the deal goes through. Absolutely tax the living hell out of them.
Did you read the graphic? It said a for-profit entity.
@@nldmaster but did you listen? They still filed for nonprofit tax exemption after claiming to be for profit.
Did you read it it’s say they retain tax free exemption and still are a for profit
Shoot first, ask questions later
They're likely losing their tax exempt status (under govt investigation). What the hell, let the Saudis pay the taxes.
What kind of Bribe Money did Jay Monaghan accept to allow this? The man should be thrown out of his job. He is a total disgrace.
I'd bet good money the Discovery phase of the lawsuit would have exposed the nature of the PGA tour business and led to the challenging of the PGA "nonprofit" status.
They just brought golf. The PGA tour is in trouble aside from LIV. PIF may have just made the most fortuitous move ever.
@Andrew Gillie Yep. The PIF reportedly has $700 billion to invest in sports/business. We don't know the number but say they bought the PGA for $10billion. It's a drop in the bucket. Scary money
@D C that's it mate, there's very few sports they can't "own".......or countries for that matter
PGA's whole thing was how terrible LIV was. Now they go from "Funded 9/11" to "Hey we are partners with these great people" Very Very QUICK.
Like everything else in this life, it comes down to money. The Saudis threw enough of it at the PGA till they hit the magic amount.
Get with it. After 9/11 everyone BUT the Saudis were targets. Went after Iraq for no reason other than use the attack to exploit an irrelevant nation for its resources and to establish a permanent base in foreign territory. The Bush family flew Osama bin Laden's family to safety within the states for f***'s sake because they were cash cows for America. US hypocrisy in the face of capitalism is a tale as old as the nation itself.
That was BS propaganda to hide theiir real reason for opposing LIV Golf: Control of all golfers. The PGA Tour wanted a monopoly. LIV Golf was becoming too strong to the point that the PGA either merged or slowly go out of business.
The morality of the thing was always destined to go out of the window. I'm just shocked they found the right price so quickly.
Yep. They always went for this moral argument when the XFL argument/critique was much stronger. Now they look like complete shills.
Imagine being one of the golfers that turned down a 100 million dollar Liv offer only to end up merging with them anyways 😂
lol
Rory
Hahahahahahahahahaha
They chose poorly! Like not buying Bitcoin early and dumping it.
Tiger Woods was offered equity in LIV & 1 Billion. If he said yes he would literally own the PGA now.
Phil and his gang sipping champagne, Rory and his gang recovering from the right-left-uppercut they just received, and The PGA Tour sold out again.
HUH? Those LIV guys now gotta reapply for reinstatement in the PGA... lol! There is no LIV Tour anymore.

I’m a total casual when it comes to golf. I won’t pretend to be a hardcore follower or anything. I was under the impression it was economical issues as well as financial and human rights. That seemed to all go away with the mighty dollar so it makes sense what you’re saying
ABSOLUTEY DISGRACEFUL BEHAVIOUR by the PGA Tour. Players stayed loyal to them and didn’t sell out to LIV for the money. And now that loyalty is shoved in their faces. Disgusting behaviour. DISGUSTING
It was never selling out, it was getting paid what they deserve to play the sport at the highest level. PGA was and has been the villain the entire time, people are just stupid or brainwashed that think otherwise.
Lolz
That was just a narrative the PGA used so they didn't look like such morons, they created this whole narrative. there's Saudi money in everything but they just used it to make liv the Big bad Wolf.
They should have taken the bag lime Brooks Koepka did
That’s business
Thanks for the great input.
This is a story of the PGA not wanting to open up their books to the public.
100% - I don't think this accomplishes what Phil/Greg wanted in the least. I mean maybe guys get to play ryder cup or something which would be a positive.

Rich also stated the Saudi prince didn't want to be deposed in court either.
@@ww2remembered983 exactly it went both ways.
Neither does LIV.
Lets be real. If the Saudis just wanted to sponsor the PGA tour (instead of establishing their own thing), the PGA would have accepted the Saudi money from day 1.
The pga doesn't want to open their books in court. And yes, the pga just wanted to wait til the "saudia Arabia reaction calmed down a lot" now they are all in!
Exactly. I had no qualms against Saudi money but its just funny how quickly people will change their morals as soon as they can eat at the table. Now we're going to see alot of backtracking
And no one would've said a thing.
BTW, Rich says "let's ask the LPGA Tour... blah blah blah" HEY RICH, THE SAUDI'S ARE ALREADY INVESTED IN THE LPGA TOUR... Dummy
But then the lawsuits started and with that came subpoenas for financial records. PGA doin everything they can to keep the books out of public eyes.

😂
Amazing how the PGA suddenly came up with more money once LIV burst onto the Golf scene. 🤔
Phil, Greg and Golf Saudi have completely outsmarted everyone.
PGA tour members should immediately unionize and make this new tour collectively bargain with the players. All that bullshit about the PGA being the players tour means nothing.
Yes, they should model it off how entertainment industry unions work.
That's a good idea. If Jay hadn't been so greedy, he could have done this last year and the PGA would be well protected. And probably a very lucrative to professional golfers as a safety blanket, if nothing else. I don't see how Jay's employment survives this.
@@Golfzilla70 I think the issue is they are considered independent contractors and not employees of the tour and it’s considered a Non-profit. It’s all weird.
I’m generally against unions, but I think they better form a Union or they will get screwed.

This is such misinformation and flat out wrong.
The NFL, does not pay taxes, it funnels money to the teams, which do pay taxes.
It was only the league office that was ever “non-profit.” The teams, which get or generate over 90% of all the income, were always for profit businesses that had to pay taxes.
And I’m pretty sure even the league office got rid of their non-profit status a few years ago.

Not quite, since the NBA still runs the league proper. They just don't try to piss off or embarrass the Chinese. With this deal, the PIF/Saudis are a full partner with the PGA, and are directly running the tour together with the PGA. And have the right to approve anyone else who wants to invest in the tour. That's an extra layer of control that doesn't exist in the other major sports, even if they have individual foreign owners.

Uhh what? The guys at the bottom are about to become far richer. The guys at the bottom of LIV Golf are making far more than most of the PGA Tour members.
This was exactly almost the same thing that happened years ago in football - with the money coming from the same source: OIL. Texas oil tycoons in the 1960's wanted to own football franchises but could not get a foot into the door of the NFL. So they started their own league and opened their wallets to pay top players more money than the NFL. Those early AFL franchises were losing a million dollars a year (big money then) but the owners did not care since it was the cache of owning a football franchise that they were after. Eventually the NFL had to settle and merge with the AFL to create modern league we now have. The same thing just happened in golf - with Saudi oil replacing Texas oil.
